About battery backup time?
If you are not buying it because of its 60 hz screeen , sorry but you are a stupid as my other companies are providing 144 hz screen but that screen is paired with a weak gtx 1650 that cannot give more than 50 fps in games. atleast you can play games with high graphics on this hp omen

I have HP Omen 15 ek 0042tx. With 10th gen i7, 16gb ram 3200 mhz, rtx 2060 6 gh graphic, and 512 storage. 70w 6 cell battery. But it only last hardly 2+ hours. When it was new like for a week or so it was giving 8 hours of battery backup on normal usage, but after a month now its jus above 2 hours on normal like watch video or idle usage. I tried system restore twice but nothing happens still 2 hours of back on watching videos. And the temp is above 55 degree in ac room, sometimes crossing 70 too in ie stage. I tried contacting hp nd service centre they find nothing wrong with component. Have any idea? What to do?

If HP lowers the cost of the upgrades and improves the keyboard, this would be a very compelling gaming laptop. Also, does anyone know if you can just yoink a 230W charger from a different laptop and use it with this? It looks like a standard barrel plug, but I don't have any other chargers on me at the moment. That could be a solution for anyone looking for more than 10 hours of full system load at a time.

I underestimated its design. I bought HP omen 2018. Its design is great, but its battery is too small, if possible, you should upgrade the battery, not change its appearance. .

About battery backup time
This is a nice gaming laptop for good fps in games. Is it good for editing and recording videos? Does it have shadowplay recording software? Is it good for Minecraft? How much wattage does the graphics card have? How much does it weigh? How much cpu does the games take? Does the graphics card in it come in series 2000 and 3000? How much does it cost comparing series 2000 and series 3000? Till how much wattage do the cards have? Gotta do my full research especially when buying your first gaming laptop nowadays.

Hey Dave, Great overview; however, the deck lid and bottom are both plastic whereas the keyboard deck is all aluminum metal. I purchased the mid 2019/mid 2020 model which has the same specs as the model that Dave is reviewing here, but it's an all metal build (i.e. deck lid, keyboard area and bottom). Ravi Peiris M.D.

By the way the 2019 version (not the ones having ports at the back, but the newer ones - dh0138tx for example) has a very similar cooling system, also three heatpipes and two exhausts at the back and one on the side. But it is a bit thinner so the thermals are not quite there yet, but with a bit of undervolting it already avoids thermal throttling.
What do you guys think of the HP Omen 15? Also, two brain farts in this video. 1) I said 7700k, I meant to say 7700HQ for the cpu and 2) I said Diablo instead of Doom for the game I tested. That is all.

I had this laptop years ago. It was my favorite Laptop of all time. It Was blazing fast. It handled all my video editing, gaming, and battery life was great. It wasn't a big bulking laptop. And the red and black just went so well with since it is called "the omen". Really wish they made a new one with this same design, but the new hp omen notebook looks amazing as well.

I use this laptop and its great your review was spot on, I have the 7700hq with the 1050ti (upgrades 16GB RAM / 120hz 1080p LCD / 1TB SSD) runs games great and very usable as a daily driver because of the weight, its not too heavy and the good battery life when not gaming, keyboard is great and very comfortable (apple-ish pre 2016) for typing and your rite the trackpad is a bit garbage but tinkering with the trackpad settings its gets a little better (not much lol). as of 2nd august 2021 am running windows 11 on it and runs great still. No compatibility issues at all. if anyone has any questions about this laptop reply to this message and I will see what I can do.

I have the same 16GB variant, and genuinely it's working all perfect, though I feel that the touchpad sucks sometimes. I have used it for the past three years, and after so harsh daily gaming, I find the battery output has subsided. Else everything works perfectly.
*I'm only finally leaving this review because I've had this laptop for 2 years and I'm finally upgrading (or, to be honest downgrading). It was my daily driver for all 2 years, usually for 8+ hours a day, and playing Skyrim with Photoshop open in the background. never an issue with speed or processing. Really a great laptop.*
