Is this laptop good for Aftereffects as well? Its 16 gig RAM but I'd prefer a 32 gig to be on the safer side.I'm a video editor...I dont like the Envy 15 cos its too big..I want a cute laptop like the Envy 13 or 14 but which to do After effects.

I want to sell my Tuf gaming laptop with a ryzen 5 8gb ram with a amd 560x gpu that I paid around $600 for in 2019. Its still in pristine condition since I didn't use it much and I still have the original box. Today they are selling new for around $850 on Amazon. I see they are being sold on ebay for around what I paid for it. The reason I'm thinking of selling is because I'm going to university this year and I don't want something necessarily for gaming. I wouldn't want to carry my heavy and bulky gaming laptop around. Instead I was looking at this that costs around $1100 for an I7 with 16gb ram and a gtx1650 gpu. I also like it because it has a smaller screen (from 15.6) and its super slim and portable like a MacBook. What are your thoughts?

hmmmm what should I take ENVY 14 (*at a price of 1099 € aka 1323 $*) with an i5-1135G7, 16 gigs of ram, 512 GB ssd and its dedicated graphics card that can't do thaaaat much on that size of a laptop (60 hz screen, not that much vram) or an ELITEBOOK 845 G7 (*at a price of 1199 € aka 1443 $*) with a Ryzen PRO 4750U, 16 gigs of ram, 1 TB ssd and the possibility of swaping ram and stuff... but no dedicated graphicscard...
Please someone help me T_T I dunno what to do ... since both a pretty attractive and both got its undeniable advantages and disadvantages

How does Envy 14 compare to X360 Spectre 14 ? Which is more powerful, and more quiet ? Did you have a chance to compare them ?
I know I'm a month late to this, but I'm looking for something to replace a 13 inch Surface Book 2. I have the i5 w/ 8gb of ram. Size wise this looks comparable and so does the display. My main question to this is, is this a laptop you could recommend to a Mechanical Engineering student that runs Solidworks and Matlab? My i5 Surface Book struggles and tends to get extremely hot. And if this isn't what would your recommendation be for something powerful, light/portable (for classes), and reliable?
Not a 2-in-1, almost perfect... Good processor, dedicated GPU, thunderbolt 4, HDMI out, good display, very good ram. Almost perfect.
I wold like it black because of the keyboard problems with light in night. But it look like amazing pc.

Hp has a poor quality control these days. They have not displayed ram frequency for some models like this one. I had a flickering screen problem and dark screen problem with the envy 13rba100. I returned it after much waste of time with hp people. Their costomer care seems to have gone bad too. The task manager did not show the ram as advertised whic was surprising too. The laptop was bought from hp website which came from china and had a made in china logo at the back.

I'd let you know how I think about this new Envy 14. I think I am going to buy it, with the same specs as your unit, Andrew. Oh and I definitely love that cam shutter feature, and the GTX-1650 Ti, and the premium matt finished metal body. In fact, I almost love everything it offers.

That's a seriously bad keyboard... The power button is just at the wrong place... I was hoping envy would really make me envy to purchase this laptop.

A mid-spec HP Envy will last a really long time. I've got one that's my beater that's still going strong after 7 years of abuse.
this thing with ryzen 5000 would be a blast...
but also not available for like 1 year

I need help with buying a new laptop. I purchased a HP that had audio issues. I want a really excellent graphics screen, great sound, for watching YouTube etc. Not a high end gamer. Plenty of storage. In Australia prices are inflated like crazy. Can you recommend any brands?

SO I got my 15" Envy.... yeah, they don't tell you that MICROSUCK bitlocks the SSD, and codes it so that it's difficult to install Linux on it! Ridiculous. Secure Boot and UEFI suck!
Be careful with those claims as companies are way more likely to throttle next iterations.. instead of improving cooling efficiency of costlier models.

These type of laptops are perfect for me.(Acer swift x for example) They are sleek with aluminium, they are powerful, they offer gpu which spectre doesn't offer. These type of laptops are jack of all trades. They are "good" at everything but they can be passed in special tasks. Can you game on it? Yes. Can you edit on it? Yes. Can you do casual things on it? Yes. Is it sexy with that aluminium? Absolutely better than cheap plastic gaming laptops. I love these type of laptops

Great idea to try Fedora alongside Ubuntu for the Linux test. Ubuntu LTS tends to be a bit behind in terms of hardware support. Fedora does not have an LTS release, so the latest version will support alot more hardware as it will be running a newer kernel/software stack compared to Ubuntu LTS.

The envy 15 is much more expensive than the envy 14 in my country : the GTX 1660ti is 1600 euros and the RTX one is at 2000 euros, the envy 14 is at 1200 euros with I5, GTX and 512GB SSD, and 16GB of RAM. In this case the envy 14 is definitly worth it!

Engineers. You can recommend this laptop for engineers, the 1650 Ti with 4Gb vRAM combined with 11th gen cpus is perfect for engineering apps like Solidworks, Autocad, matlab and so on, plus 16:10 aspect ratio, battery life, i/o, portability, build quality and Windows OS, all of those things make it the perfect laptop for me

From the hp users manual it seems that the thunderbolt port does not support power delivery. This is the only thing holding me back from buying this laptop.

Josh, this is a great review but for some of us there is a dealbreaker I think you didn't mention.
The right ctrl key is removed, replaced by the fingerprint reader.
Some of us actually use that key, especially among left handed users.
I would not even be able to comfortably zoom with the scroll wheel using this laptop.
I was about to buy it, thankfully I noticed this problem before hitting order.
