Bought 2 sets of 364xl ink cartridges from eBay. Slotted them nicely on my Hp photosmart 5510 and 5520. But lo and behold, I got a - non compatible cartridges - response from both printers. From the internet, 364xl ink do run on 5510 and 5520. But why this response from these printers when I slotted the cartridges in?? Any ideas anyone?
This may not have anything to do with this video but it helped me figure out what was wrong with my cartridge. I got my HP ink cartridge refilled at costco and when I put it into my printer, I got a missing or damaged cartridge warning. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the cartridge until I saw this video and figured it had to do with the chip. Turned out that when they refill the cartridge, they also change the chip. I eventually compared the chip with one of my color cartridges and noticed the placement of the chip was off. I removed the chip and placed it correctly and that fixed my problem! Thanks for helping me figure this out.
I tried at first exactly as you explained but the cartrige didnt fit inside with the plastic thing. then I remembered that I have very thin double side tape (used for the cell phone display), and I sticked the chip directly on the cartige. and it worked! you helped me alot thanks!

Hi Where can i get the chip blocker ( plastic chip holder )? . i have 3 sets of cartridges ,2 of them original from Hp office jet 6500A empty already cartrdges. i have 1 set from CISS system Tank. None of them works now it shows  missing or damage cartridges i try to  move around the chips, i tried to replace with original chips didnt work i tried factory reset default didnt work  pwoer of on ,no result , can you  give me an idea what to>the only thing i didnt try where can i get the chip blocker( plastic holder to put chip on it ) or where can i get it?
The 364-based printers are ALL in dire need for waste ink bottle! You need just a screwdriver, catheter tube, drill and a bottle. Disassemble the printer (printhead must be put on paper towel with 30/70 isopropyl/destilled water; or printhead cleaner), remove the cleaning bay on your right hand, connect the tube to two output tubes of the ink pump and lead them out to the inside, drilling two holes on the right side. Assemble it, make three holes in small bottle and lead those two tubes from pump inside the bottle. After this hack, all the waste ink will be pumped INSIDE the external bottle, and not around your printer. This increases the life span and reduces ink usage by A LOT - because the printer will remain VERY clean. It voids your warranty though. Have made this mod on b209a and c309g and it worked like charm!
Make sure you match the chip from same colour cartridges. I have been using this method for ages but recently the printer suddenly became fussy about this. I think HP must have performed a stealth firmware update. I am closing the firewall on HP.

Well, isn't that terrific.? "With any luck" the man states. If luck was involved I could have been lucky and not bought an HP printer to start with. I would advise people not to buy their ink from Ebay, because if you read the feedback on the sellers you'd becomes painfully aware that the cartridges are fake, but that would make people buy the "real" ink from HP which would obviously mean more profits for them. So I won't advise anything but, BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND
I have a draw full of "compatible" cartridges with and without chips, with chip extender and in the end I have abandoned this because I can't make any of them work, and now seek cheap (surplus, out of date) real HP tanks, for not much more money.

this solution works only during the chip date life. what happend when the chip date is over ????
This seems too good to be true... and it is. Many new printers have software within them that prevents proper printing if it detects that the cartridge level is low, so regardless of how much the ink level is, it still prints like its empty.
Can I Use the chip from one of the cartridges you sent me rather from an original HP?

Hello, I’d like to ask a question I have about my HP office jet pro 8710 if I may. I have original Cartridges along with a set of aftermarket cartridges. My question is, when I replaced the original cartridges with the aftermarket ones my printer was complaining about them of corse but the printer was not reporting the proper ink level. The replaced cartridges were actually full. The printer says that the “new” cartridges are genuine but previously use and say they may be counterfeit. Is there a way to reset the chip on the cartridge so the printer reports them as full with using the printer? Furthermore I have auto updates off and sending Anonymous information is disabled as well. Any info I would appreciate! Thank you.

Hey! Great video, thanks. I have an Officejet Pro 7740. The cyan cartridge appeared as depleted(all others about 10%), so I followed these instructions and set "Anonymous Usage Information" to Off. It still would not let me print. So I bought a cyan cartridge, and as soon as I replaced it, without printing ANYTHING, magenta and yellow appeared as depleted and would not let me print. Do you have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
My HP564 now prints in light grey. Is this another scam by HP to deter people from refilling their cartridges? 2 months ago I refilled, and hit "OK" when my printer said the cartridges were empty. Printing was fine. Now, the colors print fine, but black is light grey. It's not a clogged head since the quality is very good, and when I print a "Quality test print", it is black. Any ideas? i turned the chip reader off. I still received message to remove and reinstall the indicated cartage. I have tried 3 different black ink cartridges. it wont let me use any of them. do you have any other suggestions?

There is a another that you Heck ink cartridges. But first you have to dissemble the printer and go to the the logic board you will see there is a small battery installed,you have to remove it. I do it with my HP deskjet 3835 printer.
