Is it beneficial at all to soak the pellets first as I was just wondering if dry pellets would swell in the fish once it has been swallowed and gets wet?

Ur koi carps r so very lucky to have you as their parent..the only thing is that koi carps enjoy digging rocks pebbles etc for their peace of mind r playing..n there is no strong water currents to make r force kois to swim against the tide which is also a good for their mental condition..stress free like that..even for all barbs too..is not necessarily in your view?

I have been using Hikari Gold sinking and floating pellets and my fish grow and get color. The food is good but if you overfeed it will make a mess. On the package it says to remove any excess food out of the tank. Now I only feed floating pellets because they are easier to clean up. Also I use Hikari blood worms and fish like it a lot. Should you use it. Maybe for the moment the food works. If I am going to breed the fish I will switch them only on life frozen food for at least 1 month and feed them like pigs. This usually with heavy water changes leads to eggs.

Been using hikari foods of all types for 7+ years on all types of fish. Hikarki has a ton of supplemental foods frozen and dried. Pellets should only be used as like a staple food. All of my fish have grown very big and vibrant. (Flowerhorn, jardini, discus, mbuna, beta, cichlid fry, angel fish, multiple pleco types, Oscar's, jacks, ext) Note: I have always supplemented with beef heart, shrimp, white fish, hikari dried worms, dried shrimp and frozen hikari foods. Hikari is an excellent fish food if fed properly.

I don’t know where you got, “they’re just not of quality.” Our family has used several of the Hikari foods such as the Cichlid Gold and Cichlid Staple. I’ve never had any smelly water before, and I completely believe in Hikari 100%.
I have started using the Hikari Crab Cuisine at add some extra calcium for my snails. My snails will target in on the small pellets. It’s a very good product.
How do you break the habit of fish only eating one type of food? I keep clouded archer fish. They will only eat bug bites. I've tried at least six other types. They just spit it out. They will eat frozen blood worms, black worms. and crickets. I only feed those once a week.
That smell is probably the fish meal.considering hikari is made in Japan and the fish meal made in Japan is made up of mackerel,sardines,pilchard and sauries.
I changed food cause it stunk, I underfed as well. It was horrible (carnivores one)

Wohoooo I got my name mentioned :) Why not get five fish from the same batch of fry and then put them next to each other and feed each one a different food and then you can get a perspective on the best. My smaller cichlids like my Jack Dempsey love the hikari vibra bites
Hikari gold cichlid floating pellets starts to stink my tank and living room out. Still use them but cut down on feeding amounts to reduce pollution of smell. There great for my oscar fish and jack Dempsey colours are brilliant
I under feed and never noticed a smell. Modified HOB and sponge filter no carbon and most importantly no smell.
I have indeed noticed odor about an hour after adding the sinking wafers to my aquariums. The bottom feeders do love those wafers though.
