I know you guys have been waiting for this one! Tones start at 5:20
Is there an output jack to plug it into a cab??
I ordered mine yesterday from Amazon - and it arrived today!!
It’s a wonderful piece of kit! If you’re going to get a practice amp, get one that’s fit for purpose… this has far more features than I shall ever use!
Thanks, this is a Great video. Appreciate it. 👊😎
I never seen this channel before. Im getting back into playing guitar and now am trying to gather some gear together. I seen this amp and needed a review on it. After this Intro i Subbed cause YES.
Could you mic this thing and use it as a decent stage amp?
Will you recommend this or Fender Mustang GTX100 for beginner? Price wise this is cheaper that is all I can say as a beginner... Any input is much appreciated!
I think the Vox AC series must be my *least* favourite amps ever XD
Does a real musician need this amp. Too gimmicky.
This is so helpful! Thank you so much for this. Great job.
Flubby ? :O
Is there a voltage selector ? I am wondering if I can send that back home where they use 240 voltage.
I finally got the Spark based on this review, supported by other good reports. All I will say is that I finally for the first time found the exact tones I wanted for my guitar on specific songs through the app that I haven't been able to emulate through my other amps, pedals, and software in real time! Thanks, Darrell, for giving the nod to Positive Grid.
Thank you for this review Darrell. Looks great!!
If only they had a Tube Pre-Amp then I would be tempted to try it out... But Bias FX with no Tube Amp sounds unconvincing and Solid State... Actually, Playing through Tubes really improves a persons playing, its just more Organic and Soulfull...
Excellent review. I'm convinced to buy one.
Quickly skips past 'Iron Hammer' straight to Blues. Dang, I wanted to hear that one! Great overview of an interesting Amp/App.
My first practice amp was a Kay, it was a cardboard shoebox with an 8 inch speaker, and it sounded just like one.
Just got one and this is perfect video to help me get the best out of it. Have to say that this thing has truly great sounds at room volume and that's coming from someone with various amps and Line 6 gear!
Love these small desktop practice amps? If you do - here’s a whole playlist of them!
SPARK LOOSE ALL THE WAY ??TOO MUDDY BASSY! YOU GOT SHIT IN YOUR EARS PAL
Annnnnnd there it is again.... Spark sounding like muddy crap. (btw I have the Yamaha also.... and one hell of a great wife!)
Spark wins if only you don't mind its bass heavy, or even muddy sound. I got one and sold after 3 months. I was not able to got use to it... and I play bass, but my guitar sounds better on a bass amp than on Spark.
Your demo would have been more meaningful if you had recorded the sounds of the units line in to your video recording so someone other than you could hear what you were comparing. As it is, we have to take for granted that your ears are hearing what we'd hear. Not much help when someone is looking for the best sounding amp. Thanks for the rest...it was all fine.
I will subscribe if you rate my current flavor of the day....Rowland S Howard!!!....he's kinda not with us anymore, so it's not that urgent......and merely because he was'nt with any outfit for long enough...he probably wont make the top 50 or even 100...but cant you review some of the under 50 top guitarists/basists...is that even a word???!!!!....I
all the distorted sounds sound the same with different EQ.
very disappointed... the Flight of the Concords .....comm ''on-Brett and Germain???!!!
I’d love to see a comparison of the Spark to a Fender Mustang and a Katana
I had two amplifi 150’s both were awesome but eventually blutooth connectivity would start being a hassle ... I really liked the tones (close enough to any tone for this adhd sufferer) ...am now researching for next similar and see spark everywhere but the Yamaha I accidentally found on amazon similar items section only...anyways led me here
you must be getting paid by Spark. More does not mean better. Have you heard of the 80/20 rule. The Spark sounds like so rove put a blanket over the speaker. Sounds like crap. i’ll take better sound any day over number of amp models and effects. Sent the Spark back after 1 week. Bought the Yamaha. No regrets.
I prefer the th30ii for one important reason - it has line outs. This let's you create a send/return effects loop with the aux in using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter. Being able to use something like a digitech trio plus properly is priceless. You can use free software loopers with both amps, but I prefer hardware solutions for the simplicity. Having send/return opens up a world of possibilities that you normally only get in larger amps. I'll take a physical effects loop over using digitized internal effects all day.
Sorry your mic is really too far from amps and there are too many reverb... I use thr with all my recordings and i just put my phone and record like this and trust me the sound are totally different. Good work to do what you have done just be careful of the sound of your videos. You can visit me to hear how my thr 10 old version sound with my method of recording
I just discovered you and have subscribed,I love anything with the word gasms in it, anyway your demos are the most precise and easy to understand, you cover everything and I love the screen shots of controls,Ive had everything from the old Fender G Dec,line 6 modelers ,TC electronic Nova System etc etc and for the most part they"re good for what they do, but they're going to sound like digitally simulated amps ,pedals, thats where Fractal Audio Axe FX and othersare changing the game, but thats expensive shite!Ive been using IRig 2 /Amplitude ,which is pretty much on par with The Spark with design, looks and capabilities, cant stand the noise gate on it though.I like both the Yamaha and The Spark, both have their strengths, and you did a great summation of that, but I think for a beginner or intermediate player looking for a practice tool, The Spark is the way to go, its a good value for the price with more options to keep a player motivated,The Yamaha is lighter and sounds more like a real tube amp to my ears, and maybe more geared for professionals that aren't looking for a lot gimmicky bells and whistles, they know what they want and can dial it in, and personally for myself,I rarely use pedals these days, just my fingers, amp and guitar,Ive grown old and simple and grumpy, take care
So from where im sitting the spark sounds further away or over affected and its so damb complicated. It also seems you have to tap out a tempo with your finger to jam with it. I can keep a tempo with my foot or my strumming but im not a finger Tapper. On the other hand if your a tech nerd the spark is the winner
Here are differentiations for the Spark never mentioned: 1. Terrible hum on Spark because of ungrounded power supply. 2. Control knob for amp selection cuts in and out without warning. 3. Turning reverb off still leaves slight reverb effect. 4. many smaller issues when using app. 5. Terrible customer service. Hundreds of people globally have reported these problems, and I've tried to get Positive Grid to address just the power supply issue and they refused. Is this a "PAID in some way" review?
Both sound terrible how you recorded them. I’m using Headphones.
Needed a Bedroom Practice Amp. Finaly not shure: Yamaha30II or Spark 40. After this Video I bought me a (used) Spark. Thanks!
Hope all is well! Just curious if you have found any more pros/cons in comparing the 2 of these amps since Aug. I'm looking for another practice amp and was thinking of the Yamaha. Thanks!
The Spark has more toys but sounds muddier, the Yamaha sounds much better to my ear. I think I'll definitely be going for the Yamaha. Quality over quantity.
Check THIS OUT:
Spark Pop Tones!!
Spark Blues Tones!!
Yes it does work with bass guitars as well
i got mine this month and it came with a link that you can download recording software for free studio one 5 prime it’s very basic the only thing i don’t like is that you can’t use the jam drum tracks from the app on the spark amp on your phone also studio one 5 prime does come with drum drums but you have to program them one at a time like each drum bass kick hi-hat stuff like that using a keyboard that it comes with i’m not goin to sit here and try to do that but other then that the program is really cool to lay down ideas thank you for this demo it was really awesome wathcing it i did hit subscribe
I recorded straight through without any delay noticeable. I think that's Ableton Live's attempt to control the Spark.
Great review, unfortunately for me the biggest issue with delay is after i order it i have to wait weeks to get it, so looking forward to receiving it though 👍
What a great demonstration! I really like your demo...what a fantastic person you are and personality you have! I could hang with you all day my brother...
Thanks for taking the time to do this!

Nice job! I saw a review where they used the headphone out on the Spark to the input on their interface to record. I wonder if that would sound as good as BIAS FX 2? I use BIAS FX 2 in my DAW and when I use BIAS in too many tracks, the RAM on the computer is not enough and it gets real sluggish. If you could record from the Spark, it should record as a regular sound track, although you would lose the option to change the preset in the DAW, but it should not use up so much RAM. I wonder if that would work? And would it sound as good as BIAS FX 2? Thanks.
I can't see the sounds? Is there something wrong with me?
FYI Did you install the windows ASIO driver? That's why you've got the latency toward the end of the video.
Jesus loves you so much that he gave his life for you because you sinned against him! Repent and trust in him and be saved! Have a good day:)
if you get delay like that turn down the buffer size not up
Record with tape
Does Spark have its own microphone? or does it use the tablet's/phone's?
Can I input songs from my PC, tablet or phone?
Can I record my playing using Spark?
I use pro tools , and if you click mute it will get rid of delay.
Bro, hit mute. That will get rid of delay
Watched another review of this amp and they didn't mention the external power supply. That's both good and bad. It would work with an external battery but it's kinda messy to really use next to a wall outlet. Who doesn't have enough wires all over the place. What is the actual wattage or sound level for this thing. Can you use it with a drummer IRL? Good review tho. Sounds like a great first amp or a practice amp. Sounds like a good deal on a lot of fun.
On the DAW it’s latency just turn off the monitoring fo that channel so you don’t here your playing in the DAW
That would be a fun thing to have. I am going to be encouraging my students to get one as a perfect practice amp that would cover all their needs, and keeps the price in a range that's fairly accessible for most people.
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and making this tutorial. I just recieved my Spark yesterday and I am having such a great time with it. I would like to know more about the interface, have you found away to get rid of the delay while recording? Thank you once again. I'll be sure to 👍and subscribe.
Great video! Thank you! 👍😎
Man these small desktop amps are getting so awesome!
are the outputs stereo?
Dude your videos are so useful. Thanks for all you do
I don't get the hype about this amp really. I got my hands on one and I must say the distorted amp settings sound like a mediocre VST plugin - bad overtones, too much bass, tiny but noticeable delay, and they're all basically the same sound with different eq presets.
It just feels very artificial and disconnected from the guitar.
The app didn't work for me, it says connected but I couldn't change a thing with it. Some users reported to use USB first, but I didn't bother. Even if it works after some trial and error, for the price of almost 500 EUR, connecting to it should be a breeze. The app looks like ass too, no wonder it has a 2.8 rating in the Play store.
Don't know if you can play music on it via Bluetooth and jam to it, but when the app was connected, it didn't seem to allow that.
The clean sounds are OK, albeit they too have something unnatural to them.
This is an obvious return for me sadly.
If you consider this amp, be sure to check it out first in person - too bad I didn't have the chance here in Hungary as it's out of stock everywhere.
darrell smiles on hi gain preset ,, I'm gonna get this amp hahahahaha
I love this little amp. It does it all. I took it on vacation and used it as a bluetooth speaker to play some tunes and also brought my guitar along and jammed to backing tracks on the deck. This is my go to amp in my studio, no cables just plug in the Line 6 and ready your ready to play. This unit sounds so much better than the Spark amp. Great review.
Am i right in thinking this doesnt have the intuitive play along feature with drums and bass
Hi mr darrell... which is better this or the boss katana in your opinion ?
I have notice throughput the years people talk about the portability and what its made out of and if its a sound card....blah blah....yeah this is something to talk about.
But could you imagine going to a restaurant and they tell you what your plate is made of..
Talk about amps first... sounds remeber those....and what models are included...then overdrive and tyoe...then effects and then all the other jargon.
I stopped watching the moment you said that you were using the sound from the line outputs. Of course those will sound good, but I can do just as well playing directly through my audio interface when recording. It's a "portable" amp, so I want to know what it sounds like through it's own speakers because that's the way it will be used 90% of the time.
Wow Iam sold..
Thanks for this!
Can you run it through a 4 x 12 cabinet?
You make it sound so boring and muffled, i guess you really have to put some effort on getting a good tone depending on what you are ging to play. I do that and mine sounds great.
Boss Katana MKII review anytime soon? Thanks for all the great videos.
I'm thinking this would be great with the solid body electric baritone uke I'm having made!
Coming in the mail on Wednesday. So anxious.
I have the first version. Love it but this one here is on steroids lol. I need one of these fo show.
Trying to decide between this and the katana air
Just bought this lol lowkey can’t wait for it to arrive
