HifiMAN Re400 Review: What a SURPRISE
Hifiman RE-400 - review
BLON BL-03 Vs HIFIMAN RE-400 (Rant)
HiFiMan RE-400 Earphones Review: Great Value, Great Sound
Buy on Amazon: have these. I like them. Great neutral sound - and no chance of being stolen. Check out Linsoul offerings from CCA or KZ. In the US, 5 balanced Armatures + one dynamic driver per ear for about $50 shipped to the US. Probably more affordable in HK. And the bluetooth wire can be purchased for an additional $20US and voila - the best sounding bluetooth headset. Some have used a FiiO bluetooth wire instead and say it's even better. However, mic quality sucks LOL.
I paid $18. I’m pretty excited to listen to these
Just bought the again after 6 years, the first one broke after a year (was much more expensive at that time) This was a big thing @ headfi at that time. Sounds better than most 100USD IEM available these days.
Boox mining from the habbo hotel mining the gold bars
It looks really awful the cable makes me feel its price should be 5 dollars
Hhhhha the ugliest
When did you make this channel? I just got a recommendation now haha
Hifiman loves the treble a little bit too much
Oluv, I beg you to try the RE600. I know you are fed up by trying sub-par iems but this one is really great. Like a more musical ER2XR but I think they share more or less similar tonality. The RE400 on the other hand is mid-centric and sometimes can sound a bit weird as mid frequencies are presented in an in-your-face manner. However, it's not bad. I also had a similar experience with it with certain insertion depth and tips. It can sound grainy and unnatural if not driven with a powerful source and used with wrong tips! I found it performs best when sitting as deep as possible. The best tips are the Spinfits and Sony Hybrids while a Dragonfly (any version) can reveal its potential. Drive-in also plays an important part with this set. At first, it sounded shouty but has settled after 50-100 hours. BTW, I got to order an Earfun Pro that you tuned and was one of the first to grab it (1st batch) Keep up the great work!
Maybe BURN em for like a year
the FR measurement looks different from crinnacle's measurement. weird since it's the same IEM
Sir kindly review rha iems
RE-400 needs a little bit of EQ and good foam tips. I had them for two years and was in love with them. They sounded warm, with smooth treble and intimate vocals. Nothing like how they sound in this video. :D
did you try to remove the foams inside the nozzles? then try some third party eartips? coming from ety er4p, re400s are not bad for me at all. maybe re400a variant doesn't sound as good.
God dam love this channel! Nearly watched all the videos.
I loved the Etymotic MK5, they sound much louder and I perceive certain sounds that in the HiFiman little notice. Right now I own a Hybrid Pro from Xiaomi and the truth is that I have not yet found a worthy rival to move them, and I'm in search of finding some in-ear headphones that surprise me. The music that I listen to is Pop (British, Australian and North American) Soul, R&B Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Jazz and some Funk. I've never heard reggaeton, I hate it, it's the most pathetic and disgusting! Btw, what's the name of the singer and the song that sounded?
Another great review. Keep wrecking the false "expert" opinions and reviews on the overhyped garbage.
I had Hifiman RE-400. I played with them a lot to get the best sound. I used INAIRS Air 1 foam tips, to drive them I was using Samsung Galaxy Alpha. In the settings, I turned ON the Clarity option and Bass option, if I needed more bass in some tracks. When I did all of that, they sounded freaking amazing, I had tears running down my face. But as soon as I changed the tips, they sounded different. And when I bought Galaxy S7, they sounded boring AF. Weird little IEM's, but I was happy to have them for about 2 years.
Your reviews are amazing, really good work! It would be great if you could review the HE4XX.
I think all iems suck dont they?
Since you use EqualizerAPO, can you give us some impression with RE-400 using this equalization? Preamp: -5.7 dB GraphicEQ: 10.0478 0; 20 3.9; 45 3; 59 2.4; 102 0.2; 201 -1.2; 635 1; 777 1.1; 832 0.9; 1019 -0.1; 1167 -0.9; 1873 -5.2; 2004 -5.1; 2145 -4.1; 3008 5.7; 5168 5.2; 5917 3.2; 6775 3.5; 7756 0.3; 8299 0 I used the result from project AutoEQ () with some minor changes to make the result simpler.
Etymotic is hearing aid manufacturer first.
Sounded like the sea wasn't that good.
Oluv - I really like your test set up but fit plays such a huge role with IEM's. Unfortunately, I can't use Etymotic's because the fit is too painful. While they weren't my all-time favorites, I do think the RE-400's were a very good deal for the price. They comfort and good isolation on public transportation (nowhere close to the Etymotics though). Also, the bass and isolation of the RE-400 can be improved to a decent level if you find the right tips such as the old Sony hybrid tips, although the RE-400 will never please people who like a lot of bass, no matter which tips you use. I could send you a different pair of tips that works well with the RE-400, if I could figure out how to contact you. fwiw - My all time favorite IEM for sound is the LZ-A4, but I rarely use it because it doesn't isolate enough for public transportation. For commuting, I use the MEE Electronics Pinnacle PX which is very comfortable, isolates well and has a very good neutral sound (not for bass-heads),
Will you make review of Sony WH-1000xm2 or xm3?
What do you guys think about 2500$ inears? (Audeze LCDi4) You think it is in ANY WAY justified to ask that much? I would send them to oluv for testing if i had the money
try vsnic gr07
Bro, it feels/sounds good while you review. Stay consistent
I was confused between these two earlier but recently go with blon bl 03. And after watching this video I made a right decision.
blons are great fun iems. been using them since the 2019 chinese newyear sale. if u have problem with eartips try the spinfit cp-100 eartips and any other 2 pin .78 connector cable. trn t2 cables are pretty cheap for a 16 core cable.
I have both of them and they are all great iem. RE-400 is a great budget iem for "specific" listening experience. It's give a nice gentle sound, detail and smooth. Bass (not base) head will dislike this because it not punchy and not fun to listen at all. This is Hifiman so build quality is there so dont worry, and you should be glad how light it is, many iem theseday are weighty and fall out from my ear a lot of time. Yes, cable is not the best but it stay with you for a while. Blon bl03 is one of my favorite chifi "dynamic" iem in recent years. They got so many things right but also many things bad, pretty bad. Form design is disaster, it not fit most human ear (me too), they knew so they bend the cable very tight to our ear. Cable is removeable which pretty nice but ear hook is very tight, too tight, You will feel ache when you use for a whileyou get a hard time when you change cable so be careful if you dont want to break that 2 pin connector. Sound - surprisingly great, it a punchy v-shape iem. It's low end is good you feel the drum rock the band not shy like many so it make band feel big and feel oom!? Mid is clean, a bit forward from the intruments but seperation is lacking. High is bright but rough at the edge also as soundstage but good thing that high is not sharp and spiky. PS. You need more experience, but it long way so keep improving.
Bro good voice and confidence, keep ot up
When you play mp3 with dac Hifiman Re400 is a great buy its precise flat and having a great sound separation audiophile want a clear sound not like bass head who want a booming sound that ruin the sound stage
i agree with this video but how does penis music sound on those headphones?
I read tons of reviews of these on Amazon, a few people thought they kind of lacked bass, in the same way that perhaps, the HE400Is (which I own) lack heavy bass performance, but, nobody seemed to think they sounded bad at all. Definitely some good neutral, reference earbuds that are made pretty well for the price point. I bought two pairs of different model Linsoul IEMs, both have tons of bass, but for some, it might be a bit too much if you're not EQing them to back off the bass a bit. I may buy these just to see if I love them or not, and the price is down pretty low at present.
Today I received these headphones. I took it specially for HIFIMan-603. The sound is just awful, the middle is devoid of bass completely. Because of what the vocals and many musical instruments sound as if from a closed jar. Percussion instruments also play - there is no bass. The only plus - there are almost no sibilants. It's better to buy QKZ VK1, they play better and are much cheaper. Sony MDR-EX450H worth $ 28 sounds much nicer, even if there are sibilants, but only at a higher volume. If vocals with instrumental music are important to you, then do not buy this garbage. We used songs converted from DSD and DSF, the output format - FLAC 24bit 96Khz :(
You see for the left eye.
@lachlanlikesathing how is the re400 in terms of base compared to a beats dr dre or klipsch s4i? So many reviews on the re400 say the lower bass is underwhelming
These are on sale for blackfriday for less than $50. Should i buy it? Thought looking for in line controls
These or dunu titan 1?
Ehi friend, i follow you in every video you make. I need a suggestion: i think that the sound signature of my re-400 is near the perfection for me on the go use. But i have a bad psoriasis inside the ear canal and i must suspend in ear usage. What portable headphones is the most near to re-400 ss? I tried a lot of portable headphone that i sold for the reason i wrote:Cal! - poor construction, boxyK271 mkii - boxy mids, no bassAth-m50s - recessed midsk167 tiesto - perfect sound, poor constructionCa-200 - plastic box soundMeliconi - shitbeatspro - overcompressed and bassyk550 - thin midsmdr-1r - boxy midsSe-a1000 - open, bulky unrefinedUe6000 - too dark in passive mode, too boomy in activeSrh940 - perfection, i still have, not portableHd25 alu - compressed midsK81dj - look k518K518 - too strong overpowering bass, veiled midsK545 - good but bulky for being portable and too similar to my srh940 St-750 - edgy unrefined highs, bulkyMdr-100aap - too cup resonantRe-400 - in search of this sound Crusher - toy to my sonMomentum 2 on ear - veiled mids Fidelio M1 Mkii - it arrive tomorrow, will hear and i'll decide if it is worth the 145 i spent. Have you some suggestion? My priority is the reproduction of the human voice. It must be natural and airy like srh940 and re-400 can do. Thanks
Hi, this few days i got myself stuck in deciding which iem i should get. The choices goes between re400 and jvc ha fxt90. Which one you think should i get? I got a pretty good deal on both. I had akg k550 for listening to a technically-demanding music (unplugged, jazz, etc) and now i need an all rounder iem especially for metal, rocks and occasionally some pop musics. Most of my source are in flac fromat and all of them are played on fiio x5 1st gen. Thank you. God bless you
do you have the re400 a or the re400 i?
The outside "aluminium" Is actually titanium.
Lachlan would you consider this a step up from Sony XBA-C10 And how do they compare to the Fidelio S2? I could really use some help :)
Any idea how these might compare to shure se315's? Im looking for a replacement with good detail of all the instruments in the $200 range . My Shures screwed up after only a month so im not going with those again. My klipsch and Bose dont have all the details my Shu res do but their just not reliable.
".smokey , dry , romantic sound". really helpful and precise reviews :)))
Will you be reviewing the RE-600?
How are these compared to Shure SE215 and Sennheizer Momentum in ear and ATH Sonic Fuel?
Hi Lachlan. Would you recommend these for listening to soft rock/smooth jazz? If not, which could be the alternatives? I have the SE215 and I have to say their sound does not fit my tasteat all!
I'm using the re-400 and it sounds great! The only problem I encountered was the pressure build up in my ears when I insert them. Are there venting issues with this IEM or am I using the wrong tips?
we have eerily similar taste in music. lol How does this stack up against the RHA 750 though?
do u have a link for the sony hybrid tips?
