thanks - the bass was what I was interested in cos I currently have the creative a60s and their bass is almost non-existant making home producing impossible. How do these compare to the numark n wave 60? are they good for laptop producing? (I don't have a Hercules controller)
This is for those who would like to purchase these so-called studiomonitors:DO NOT use them as studio monitors. These were manufactured as DJ-monitors. Not as Studio-equipment.I run a little studio (Ramteam Records) in our small appartment, actually in our living room (my wife loves it though, so that's a plus). I bought these approximately 4,5 years ago. I tried using the set as Studio Monitors, but as the front description already gives away, these are DJ-monitors, not Studio Monitors. The SPL is just too much off on this set.Also, for use with DJ equipment, these are not the best. But on a budget, the pricing in the Netherlands currently range from 69-75 euro, this set is quite good. I chose this set over Behringers back in the days (which were some 40 euro more expensive), due to its looks and size. A 3 inch woofer, pretty nice for under 100 bucks (I actually paid 99 bucks for 'm).A bit of advice, if you order this (or already have), the supplied RCA cables are CRAP. C.R.A.P. Do not use them.I am however, using a very wicked cable (these were 40 euro).Before I bought this set, I had the Hercules XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor set. I didn't like them, apart from their better specs, due to the crackling issue with many professional soundcards. I've got the Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ soundcard and the /80/ didn't like it. The /60/ does.As for producing, I use a Philips Studio-headset (which was some 180 euro).

Thanks, great reviews in quick fashion, lot of detailed content in little time.I've got the older JBL LSR 305s and thinking its time for an upgrade. I still love thier sound but after a few years and with the type of stuff I am doing requiring super balanced sound think it might be time. I've seen the Adam monitors near the top of the heap for a long time now, so thinking of perhaps going with them and see they make a 5.5 inch version too, whihc might be better in my small music room. Any opinions among your viewers would be appreciated.

How is presonus E3.5? E5 is quite expensive here.. So E3.5 seems more reasonable option in budget..

I'm running 2 Tapco 120 watt 8" monitors, and a Tannoy 300 watt 10" sub-woofer.And that works just fine for me.

I would choose KH120, Sceptre or Genelec over Adams. And in the midrange there are really more options than Yamaha and Eris (Eve, HEDD, Kali has released new model I think...)
2 way vs 3 way..... the problem with crossovers in 2-way designs is that they are typically set in the 1 kHz - 3kHz range. This area of the midrange is critical for vocals and many instruments in a mix. All crossovers create some degree of phase distortion. With 3-way systems, the two crossovers are usually set outside of this critical range. So any phase distortions introduced, are in less significant ranges.
