Thanks for interesting video. Where you show current level dropping when set voltage (4.2v) is reached, what triggers current drop. Is this a feature of all buck convertors or do I need to purchase one specifically for charging Li-ion?

17:07 "The current is really high" - it's because an ammeter resistance is near zero, so without a load in the output you made a short circuit
Does the unit stay set with different inputs? Say I have 2 different power sources, 12v and another 14v. Do I need to set the output for each unit or is the output not related to the input?
I tied spinning the Voltage pot like forever, and still can't get the output voltage over 3V (with 17.8V input). What am I doing wrong?
I would have liked to see the current draw on that 8 amp hour pouch cell when the charge cycle was complete. Someone pointed out that the 18650 you used had a built in protection circuit that was actually responsible for the zero current draw.
May I please ask about 5v input - will it work? (eg. USB port Vin, Vout 1.4v charging NiCd battery)

During hazy days a solar panel can show say 20v but will produce little or no current. When one drops down to lower voltage due to being in shade it will produce no real current.

With full sun my solar panel was able to put 500ma into the battery pack which is a LiFePo4 set arranged in 4P. I set the output voltage to 3.60 and the current to max. When a heavy cloud came along the out volts would drop to that of the battery and amps to 0.0. I plan on putting a boost converter on the battery pack to boost to 6V. This is to drive a game camera. So, Buck from solar panel and Boost to camera. Wish there was a way to cutoff the Boost when the batteries drop to 2.8 volt.
Make a video of using a buck converter to charge a LiFePo4 cell with a 5-10W solar panel. Or, to maintain a fully charged cell. What do these buck converters do when input voltage drops below desired output voltage? (Just tested with some cloud cover. The voltage on the output pins does not climb above that of the battery. Amps is showing 0.0. ). Hopefully I can get some full sun today)
If using multiple of these charging several cells 1 per cell but the cells are connected in series won’t it be a problem are the grounds isolated in these units?
I made a Lab power Supply with those 2 modules: XL4015 + LCD Voltmeter 4 digits ( the good model, cause 3 digits is not the best) When I turn potentiometer to set voltage on XL4015, there is a some delay before the actual voltage is displayed on the LCD. I tried XL4015 + Ordinary Multimeter, this delay is not present, the voltage is displayed live while turning the pot. But as said XL4015 + LCD voltmeter Display combo, there is some delay, like the voltmeter is analysing the new voltage value. I would like it to be instentanatly, no delay, while I turn the pot, the voltage is display directly, without this delay. Maybe somebody encounter this, and got some idea Thx

why he did not tested for 5Amp load?
As the battery gets charged, regardless if you limit the current, the battery asks for less current because the battery potential gets higher, while the batteries internal resistance remains the same requiring less current as the battery gets charged. If there's no current limit the battery will ask for whatever the battery can handle depending on its internal resistance, . So for the mp1584 buck it cycles and heats up but when I get near 100% the converter provides us current and gives a constant charge shows no more cycles of heating up I see this on the meter therefore I know that it is heating up and shutting down and then heating up again charging fast Buck converters taught me about battery charging buck converters are awesome because there's plenty of sources of free voltage batteries, solar panels, hand crank generators, wind turbines, hydro turbines, . The buck converter takes these voltages and lowers them for us absolutely awesome. Love inductors and capacitors
