One potential test you could add to an unboxing, review or testing is a ring tone test using an SPL meter.Test the 'default ring tone' or tones at various distances up to 10 metres giving people an idea of the volume as it's one thing I've known people to ask about phones - 'Am I likely to hear it over all of the noise at work, on site, in the pub/club.. and at what distance?' An old workmate kept his old Nokia 3310 as it really could be heard over the noise at work as it had one of those piezo speaker that had a nice piercing sound.I've not seen any phone review sites/channels use an SPL meter for a ring tone test and you can get SPL meters at about 15 and beyond. It might just be that feature info that someone might want to know that will see them favour a phone cos it can be heard over a generator or digger or at a far distance where electronics may not be permitted in an area.
I'm still on the hunt for a strong simple phone and this has definitely been added to the list of possibilities. It would take me ages to get used to the up/down selection button, having used a directional select & OK button phone for over 10 years now, but it's a possibility.Time to put it thru its paces and see how it performs!
