As a producer these headphones do the job quite well. Certainly could be better, but absolutely could be worse.

reviewing by comparing to other products is not useful at all. just makes you feel like everything is the wrong choice.
I own these headphones also. They're really great for what they are at the price point that they're at. I'm currently in the process of getting materials gathered to fix the "fixed wire" issue. I'll be soldering in a 3.5mm jack headphone side and installing a detachable cable. I was considering purchasing a pair of ATH-M40 or M50X, but the only complaint I could come up with personally for these is the darn wire. The more I thought about the "upgrade", the more it made sense just to fix the wire. I game with these (COD MW/BO Cold War) and I also listen to music with them. For the $50 price tag, you can't really go wrong if you're on a budget.
Are they good for gaming?

Just bought some only 40GBP .. not tried them yet but I'm sure they will be fine for what I will used them for!!
There's nothing wrong with these headphones. Internally they are using same quality elements they put into the M50X and M40X but just not same size drivers. If you don't like pads then replace them, for around 10 bucks a pair. Shocker, most consumer headphones are plastic because lighter materials and cheaper to make plus more comfortable for wearing long hours. I have had or have all 3 and they're great for music, in studio monitoring, media of all types and for gaming. I like them all but the M40X is my favorite. As well, the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 ohm are my top pick for gaming, need an amp to drive them but the softness of the ear pads cannot be beat.

These headphones are not for regular use....you can use them for regular use.....but these headphones are made for studio purpose....mixing mastering recording etc....
