Train yourself to exercise without food or gels, just water, it takes time to acclimatise, but once you are, taking food or gels on a race day will be like a nuclear reactor.

Definitely take the gel before the 70 minute bonk threshold! I take one every 45 minutes during a marathon. Fun episode!
I am just now starting to run distances where gels might be necessary. Is there a way to buy a multipack of different brands, or at least different flavors/textures from the same brand? So that i can experiment with what will work? Would love any recommendations!

These are also pretty good for people going above 4-5000m peaks as when your up that high you need the sugar and "energy" but the altitude will make you not want food

SiS Nitrate gels, just give you that lift when you need it , apple and blood orange tried and they are nice, not sure about strawberry , not the sort of flavour you associate with gels

I don't like the taste of caffeine gels I've tried. I also drink a lot of coffee so I don't really feel the benefit of the caffeine. My go to gel is the SiS isotonic the orange flavour can't beat it!

When he says let your stomach get used to it he means violent diarrhea. I would suggest trying these on short close to home runs before the long ones. Because the diarrhea will be crippling. CRIPPLING!!!!!
