They gels add up to a small fortune over a year training regularly. I go to bnm and buy 200g of Tunisian dates for 37p which do me for 3 hard rides.

It taste really good gave me energy the cons were that the gel was very thick and it is extremlyyy too sweet.i had the salted caramel. The flavor tasted nice but just the amount of sugar was too much

i am training for a marathon. i have a hill at mile 12 that goes up and well haha doesnt stop. I was told to try caffeine gels. At about mile 11 or so i took my first gel, no caffeine, and knew it was no help. At mile 12 i popped a Powergel with caffeine and went for the cruise up. I made it to mike 20 and seemed to slow down. 6 more miles should i take another caffeine gel?

Be very careful with Gu. Any gels produced before July 2015 contain animal derived amino acids and aren't suitable for vegans (or even vegetarians). Gu have confirmed this and there are lots of articles online that detail this. Gu have turned a corner now and have chosen to remove the animal derived amino acid and state that any gel produced after July 2015 will be suitable for vegans (minus the usual cross contamination statement). Worth making people aware.

Thanks for the review man I wanted it for cycling but needed to see the actual size. Way more compact than it looked thank god. The product pic made it look like a caprisun size.
I just went on a ride today, took a GU five minutes before the start of the climb drank maybe a sip of water and really pushed it on the climb I was fine the rest of the ride which was short, maybe 15 -20 minutes for the rest of the ride. Im home now and fell terrible I had terrible time on the toilet and have a very bad stomach ache any clues as to what I should do to stop this on any future rides, or should I just stop eating them? Thanks
