Good stuff. I got the Six6 Joe Root Players Edition. Absolute gun!
Maybe I can offer some input on the bat breaking issue. From what I been reading ,the higher the grade the willow, the shorter life the bat usually has. So while a GM players edition or Original or Original LE will perform better than say a 707, 606 or lower , they  have a short life expectancy. This since the is willow is slightly less flexible than the younger willow,which is indicated by the number or grains.( 10 + grains better performing shorter life) vs ( 7 and fewer not at good initially  but longer life).  However this is what I do when preparing my cricket bats If I spend 4-6 hours knocking them in, I try to spend at least 2  hours on the edges and bottom 3 inches of toe alone, while still knocking in those areas when knocking the rest of the bat face. Of the hour dedicated to the toe, I spend half of the time on the first inch of toe which is most likely to break. In addition to those steps, I usually place 2 layers of bat tape on toe so that a small portion of the tape covers the toe guard. I found this not only provides added protection for that vulnerable area, but also keeps out moisture if there is a small gap between the edge of the bat face and toe guard.   So if or when you purchase another bat, you could try this process. Oh friend had an Original LE, and his bat actually cracked the same way and break off. The willow that GM using now I think they are over dried . I have a GM HERO Original LE . The best bat I've ever own, long handle, I picked it out of 20bats . The 2010-2012 GM are the best quality willow.
