Any 100% options for fat tyres 20 inch x 4 inch for my Alpine Explorer ETRIKE from Alpine Bikes? Solid Rubber tires or Solid Inner Tubes, etc. I have only had it for 2 weeks and already have had 3 punctures and had a mechanic put tire slime in but nothing works for more than 24 hours before tires are flat again. Anyone know of anybody in Fife, Scotland that can sort the tires for me. I'm desperate for help.
If you poor milk in there it will curdle and churn into a good sealant and it's way cheaper.
Informative as always, thank you! 👌
Side note: Which jacket are you wearing there? Looks good but I struggle finding it at Gore...
Personally I've had nothing but problems with tubeless. Ran them with loads of sealent, decent tyres but would continually get punctures and they wouldnt seal. Ended up sticking tubes back in as couldn't afford to waste tyre with plenty tread left on them
Bad lines, good times
I get micro punctures all the time. They let me know my sealant is still good

Whats your opinion on the cube stereo 170 race, thats the kind of bike I was looking for and I think you get really nice specs for the price.
I have riding buddy who has recently started to get a lot of "snake bite" punctures. The tires on his bike a few years old (~3 years) and the tread is fairly worn down. He runs his tubes at 25-30 psi. Could the age and condition of his tires be causing the punctures.
#AskGMBNTechs I can't reach my forks full travel i have a marzocchi bomber 66 rcv ( open bath, with a spring unside and air preload)
i never had one years lol
@AskGMBNTechs I tried setting my bike up as tubeless I had followed everything correctly and my rear tire is still not sealing why might that be?
Anyone ordered off the UK tannus armour website? Ordered some after reading the comments here and asked some question and have had no response, thinking now I won’t receive anything.
Very helpful is the GMB Tech channel
Tire liners + inner tubes can go a long way. I'm not racing most of the time, so any detriment to tire suppleness or rolling resistance is irrelevant and can be compensated with better riding skill and awareness of limits.
#AskGMBNTech
With bikes being more capable, will riding trails progressively get more easy and less interesting as they improve ?
Is their a point at which better bikes defeat the challenge of riding?
Try Tannus no flat tires ... perfect 👌😜✌️
sg carcass, inlays, cush core for example
Jackets dope
I use tyre liners and in some instances I use 2 plys of liners to add extra protection. Works like a charm.
But sealant doesn't work on road tires at 10,000 feet. I know because I raced Pikes Peak in 2018, not knowing I had a sealed puncture in my race wheel 'till I was at the start line--I saw the shiny spot where the sealant had plugged a hole.
200 feet into the race, the hole opened up. The air pressure different opened the hole and I was fortunate enough to convince the organizers to give me a restart. They'd repeatedly said this was a mass start time trial, so since I was only a few hundred feet down the road, they allowed me to swap wheels and restart.
My mountain bike with anti puncture tyres that seems immune to punctures, my road bike seems to collect them for fun.. have to try something like this. Was considering new tyres, trying to lever off a tubeless ready tyre on a roadside is no fun.
You used to get gunk like this though 20 years ago long before tubeless tyres were a thing SPECIFICALLY just to stop punctures (for some reason I remember it might've been green), I'm guessings it's better now?
I have used stans no tube in an inner tube and had pretty good luck, it significantly cut down on flats.
Sealed it! Been having tube issues alot lately, and was thinking about sealant in tubes, you just helped seal the deal, (no pun intended) but nailed it for me
Hi i have a road bike and i have a schradier valve how do i use the selant on that thanks. 🙂
I use tubes on a 26" x 3.8" fat tire, and no sealant will stop the punctures I get. There's a 1 inch gash into the tire and the sealant just pours out of the tube and INTO THE TIRE, pushing the tire off the rim. Terrible. I have no idea what people are throwing into the streets to cause these kinds of holes, maybe razor blades?? Either that or someone is taking a knife to my tire because it looks exactly like a knife stabbed into it... Either way, sealant doesn't work.
I'd like to see the tire back on the bike and the bike being ridden before I believe the seal is adequate.
I run goop in my motorbike and my peddle bike I never get punctures been in two years still working
I would remake the video to actually show and prove that the nail hole finally sealed. One would wonder why the manufacturer does not recommend their sealant for tubes considering it seals for tubes.
or you know just buy a new tire...
I wish all Presta tubes had removable cores. I gave up and drilled out my rims so I can run Schraders.
I use thick tubes for mtb tires...but this a great method for tubes!
Great Video!
I've tried Stan's, Vittoria, Giant - 2oz bottles into the tube. I tested by pushing thumb tacks into the tire. Either it just doesn''t seal at all or it loses most of the air (I run 60 psi in 35mm CX tires) before sealing. When I pump it back to 60 psi - it starts to leak again. It seems to be more reliable in low pressure applications such as MTB tires or in full tubeless road tires. But take a look at races like Dirty Kanza - expensive tubeless systems being run by many pro cyclists - punctures galore! I would love it to work but it seems unreliable at best. I use 28mm folding tire with sidewalls cut off - inserted into my 35 mm tires as puncture breaker. They weigh about 150 grams per strip (the 28mm insert). So far, only a pinch flat as I ran the pressure too low at 50 psi. You can always carry a 2oz bottle of sealant in your back pocket - for emerg situation - and give it a try instead fiipping your bike over and getting out your tools.
There is some weird plant grows in our area, like a small nails, and hell, i should repair my tires daily, now this gonna be good i hope
Haha how nice
You don't need to remove the valve core, and you can just use an old pump to inject the sealant, just rinse out the pump afterwards.
How does it seal an inner tube because the tube expands and makes the hole
Larger, I can understand it working on tubeless tyres
What is the name of the sealants, getting tired of patching tubes with patches
I have been running Conti GatorHardShell tires with one flat in the rear in three years. Pretty good, but I always have anxiety over getting a flat, always think today is the day and I will be trying this to ease my mind even more now that I installed GP5000s for a change.
I put one of the propylene glycol based sealants like Slime in my street tire MTB. I pulled out roofing nails, staples and a piece of wire coat hanger with only a small loss in air pressure until I patch it at home.
