HP Elite 8300 SFF Gaming PC Upgrades!!! Graphics Card, SSD, RAM
Macbook Air M1 8GB vs 16GB - How Much RAM Is Right For You?
The NEW M1 Macs 8GB vs 16GB - Don't Make a HUGE Mistake!
16GB ram vs 8GB ram MAC (noob test)
Having issues with my RAM install. I put both in but the computer just beeps on startup. Even tried putting the old ram in and no luck. I also noticed my ram was in the white slots and yours in the black. Any idea?
I’m planning on getting an optiplex (i5-3470, 500hdd, 8gb ram ddr3) and installing a gt 1030 lp with 500gb of ssd. I don’t wanna have to upgrade the psu which will most likely be 250w, will it be okay?
Wait it doesnt need a better PSU? The standard unit will power all this?
Got mine for 60 bucks 20 bucks to double ram to 16 gbs and added a 1030 gt 120. Then a new ssd yesterday.. got the pro off the label on it.. for 250 I get a near ps3 level play at 720 med settings get near 35-45 fps on warzone.. it's playable.. :) Dual channel boards.. add that ram bro.. it can go up to 32 gbs which is crazy.. 😂
Where would I find a small bracket like that
Before you proceed with any hardware upgrades, first check if latest bios is installed. Hit F10 key on startup and check information menu. If bios shows version 2xx, it is old and you need to upgrade to latest 3xx bios.
What if this blows up
Does it game well
So, after all this, can I remove the flash drive or it has to stay in there?
Im thinking of buying it but am probably going to upgrade the ssd and graphics card to a gt 1030 low profile
It is ok for the gpu temp to be at 82 degrees at full load?
What if you get a 2 or 3tb ssd does it make a difference
Will the GeForce gtx 1050 ti oc low profile4gb work cause there sold out of the other ones
watching but no money :(
hell i thought the old model was ivy bridge and they only run at 4 GB let alone where is the power supply leads for the gpu cause there is none in mine 8300 . my guess is 16 GB will burn the chip out, there is no power leads in 8300 to supply the GPU and the imbedded on has a bios that wont let you switch it off so only maybe hybrid system if the computer recognizes the new cpu and run it though nividia system
Hey I’m wondering if I can use the 4 dim slots! 4x4
Hey man, I'm extremely new to pc upgrading and currently I installed a gtx 1650 LP on this exact system, One thing I am pretty unsure about is How could I change the CPU on this? As I am currently stuck with a i3-3220 and I desperately wanna upgrade to an i7-3770, Any help regarding this would be great! (sorry if this is a dumb question)
Hi i have i5 version of this, can i use 2 of 8gb ram also total of 16gb? Thank you
Does the braket for the graphic card matter? Like is the big one still gonna work
DDR3 OR DDR4????
Blimey. Talk about making a point...! Great video, and amazing what you put the base model 8Gb through to get it to stress the memory. So for most normal users using native Apple apps, a light photo editing and the occasional iMovie video editing on imported 1080/4K GoPro footage, 8Gb should do the trick...? Just don’t want to over-invest in what is clearly an excellent computer, but an entry level one none-the-less
Really a diamond quality content 🔥
You deserve more subs man, the only YouTuber who doesn't drag us along for views; Much appreciated.
Would you recommend a 16 gb macbook pro with m1 chip and 256gb for moderate usage of Final cut Pro? Or does it have to be 512 gb if it's a 16 gb upgrade?
Hey... Great video... Really well made... You should get more views... One question... Photography is a hobby & I use Lightroom Classic only for editing, creating HDRs & Panoramas. I have been recommended 8gb ram Macbook with M1. Do you think I'll be well served or I should stay with windows?
This is a really good review; thank you! I think I wanna get a M1 Air (8 gb) for video editing (not 4K, more like 1080p) and school tasks (coding). Does this seem like a good option? I only want one computer but I would like to stay within the 8 gb budget; this would also my first laptop from Apple. Thanks!
Overall 8gb M1 Air - recommended? Or 16GB the way to go?
This is much more helpful than most of the videos on the subject. Although you had helpful timestamps, I ended up watching the whole thing because your analysis was so clear.
So you are just another one who use 8 gb air but compare 8gb and don't have 16gb air version, aren't you? I can't find any video with 16gb air. WTF?
It’s a real review, without any useless talks. Subscribed, you deserve more applauses. Keep it up!
You are the greatest of all the other M1 reviewers on the web.
I really wonder why you are not getting the same views as other reviewers out there, this is the kind of review I want to see when I want to buy something, keep up the good work.
waiting for the second gen MacBook air it will show major upgrades I think
Amazing review. I've got the 8GB Pro as I only work in Cloud and do hobby video editing once in a while. For me it would me arhi sufficient.
So you are using a mechanical external HDD and then wondering why you are having crashes not even allowing the transition to render and then expecting it to be instant? Hmmm may want to rethink your testing methods in FCP...thousands of reviews show the M1 air 8gb does 4K timelines with luts and graded footage just fine.
Yeah, these things are like Dodge Hellcats... they’re fast, not the fastest, and likely not worth it, due to the amount of time they have issues.
Thanks man I bought 16gb air base varient thanks to u you were so straight forward unlike other a holes youtubers
that was such an in-depth and useful review.
everybody just get 16gb , its not worth the risk of getting 8gb.
Nice video. Thanks for making the time and excellent motivation.

As a music producer the 16gb is the only option
Jobs would have never switched from the mainstream processor market again; apple has been there before with the PPC and doing so again will not end well. Intel macs will be dead in the water within a year or so, leaving many users feeling angry and disenfranchised. Once Intel release their next M1 killer, which of course they will, apple users will once again be relegated to the computing underclass. With Jobs gone, it was only a matter of time before apple went back to making the same old mistakes.
Can you explain why 16GB M1 safari constantly runs onto memory problems when using Facebook or streaming FoxNews. I always get a warning saying “this page is using a significant amount of memory.”
I had problems when using my old MacBook Pro 2017 with 8gb of ram. It eventually started slowing the flow of the work I was doing (even typing) then it started freezing whatever I was doing when multitasking or get super hot or the ventilator would make super loud noises. Even though they say M1 works better... I’m considering the 16gb ram just to be sure it won’t cause me same issues as the older version of the MacBook Pro did. Fingers crossed this time I won’t have a problem! Thank you for the video!
700 android users with 32gb ram and lagging are angry lmao
Thanks man for making this useful video and I will stick with my MBA M1 8GB. But there is one thing. I notice that in activity monitor, data keep writing on disk even the laptop put to sleep. do you know the reason? from apple website, the written data also counts that is not limited to internal SSD but for all SSD connected to mac. but even though it keep writing 3 to 5GB even the laptop is not using and without any external ssd attached. hope to see some some answer from you.
Great vid If using voice over and magnify and zoom with MS office and safari etc i.e. accessibility features always on, what are performance considerations on M1 Air or pro?
I have a16 GB of ram on the air and it’s still using swap. It’s just how Mac OS X is by design,
Ow 8 gig version, yet to overload it :))) Runs very smooth dor my use, inmanage tabs well and heaviest i use is logic.
So if I'm a fullstack engineer which will be only using the macbook for web development purposes, I think I prefer keeping with 8gb of ram and increase my ssd storage just in case... I had worked before with a dell with 6gb ram and 512 ssd, and everything worked perfectly.
Interesting points and I get it. The one thing I like about old Macs is that they're so upgradeable with SSDs and RAM, breathing new life into them. I got the M1 Air with 8GB and 500GB SSD. So that's £150 more than the base spec. I couldn't bring myself paying another £200 for more RAM, considering that it is 20% of the base price which could go towards saving up for the next model if so needed.. Do you think a 500GB hard drive can sustain the hard drive longer? I don't plan to fill it up above half it's capacity, or load, offload occasional video projects.
Great video and very well explained. Thank you!
Waste of time
So do I need 16 GB for FL Studio and Omnisphere?
Couldn’t do it guys. Got the 13 air. Love the performance but after using 17 or 16 inch macs since 2003 I just can’t do it. Feels like a dinky toy and I can’t see shit. Gonna have to wait for the 16 and she’ll out probably way too much $$$. Sticking with my i9 for now.z
Bro! With that Whiteboard and Paper analogy... u can even explain it to my folks ! Super simple n easy
Its never made a difference
8GB ram is usable on windows, on mac 8GB ram is nothing due to poor optimization
Would 8GB be fine for long term use? Let's say atleast 5 years for Apple? I am just a college student and won't be using it for editing. I will be using it for school documents like Word/powerpoint/excel. Netflix and YouTube. And ofcourse teams for meetings. Currently I have a HP stream notebook with 2GB, I have been using this laptop for atleast 5 years. Its been a long time and I dont remember exact. But right now it says I still have 1.71GB available. It is very slow 🐌 though unfortunately.
we need this in 2020, please bro i have macbook 15 core i7 mid 2012 with 8GB and i aske me every day (do i need more ram or need up to 16GB ram)
This tests will only result in an upgrade if you are runing softwares that changes the USE of ram from 8gb to 16gb using 100% of his capacity ... like render a 3D scene with lots of vertices....
8 or 16 ?
I think OP misinterpret the role of RAM. Open Final Cut + Photoshop After Effect + Word + Safari + Mail, etc then go from one to the other and you’ll see the real effect of more RAM.
I have an old MBP mid 2012 with 4GB ram, going to upgrade the ram.. Can anyone advise if i should get 8 or 16gb. Thinking about buying Corsair ram. Also upgrading the dreadfully slow HD for SSD. Hopefully I’ll see improvement in speed.
This was extremely helpful to me...thank you. I appreciated the demo as well as some of the comments other people made so that I (a technically challenged individual) could be more informed before my iMac purchase. Thanks again!
Wow... This video was uploaded in mid 2012 and my Laptop from 2015 still has only 4 GB of RAM...
pls delete this stupid video...
You need an SSD, not more RAM. That's how you see the difference.
Do not upgrade with more ram unless you use more apps in the same time or you use 2-3 operating system in the same time your system use only 3gb of ram check activity monitor app ...your system become faster only with a faster processor i7 and best ssd only
l have a mbpr 2012, does bumping it up to 16GB RAM, make a significant difference? l can get it done, but its not as straight forward as a normal computer, as have to solder on the RAM? but if worth it l will do, as if l open up a 3 major softwares, it becomes sluggish
Large textures, huge couple of GB files in PS where more RAM could make a job. Rendering is GPU.
The 8GB of RAM is little bit faster sometimes is Definitely because of something working or other parameters on his Mac 🖥
llol
I render not using the Apple Mac but I render with a AMD Ryzen PC with 8Gig DDR4. RAM doesn't make your machine faster but it does make it more expensive and slower. The funniest thing is using 4 RAM sticks actually slows the entire machine down not up. Some people are cooling the MAC Book Pro in a walk in freezer during rendering it apparently helps a lot there are few videos online on how to do this unfortunately you may need a Winter jacket for this and the freeze uses a lot of electricity.
Thank you for helping me save money on RAM.
I’d like to see this test between 16 and 32
Apple hardware is known to be upgrade unfriendly. although like people have pointed out, you need to use more than 8GB to see a difference! Like content creation and gaming! Your "elder's" laptop is probably fine with 2 or 4 gb for chrome and facebook. :) If you're going to game at latest games in steam and windows 10 store on a GTX1070, you might has well have 16GB of ram before buying a SSD. If your content creation oriented, defenitly buy a SSD before the RAM.
Haha :D
It was funny to watch how you start like ' that's weird' and then to ' alright sometimes 8GB wins' :) Very fair video. Thank you!
