DDR3L ram are cheap now going for $50 USD and about $70 for gaming branded DDR3 - DDR3L such as these G.Skill (very reliable memory manufacturer). Any laptop or Mac can use DDR3L (Low voltage) when designed to use ddr3 (ddr4 is another story) and doesn't need to be labeled as "Mac compatible", those that say "designed or made for Mac" is a gimmick to charge more to those fools that are computer illiterate!

I dont understand, how many RAM slots does this laptop have ? as i can see its only 2 slots but when i check it on windows or CPUID app it says 4 slots?! i have 8gb of RAM but using two slots ( 4gb each slot) and i wanna upgrade it, so i want to know if i can add more 8gb ram to have 16gb or if i have to replace one of the 4gb ram with 8gb ram to have 12gb ram, i wanna know how many slots this laptop actually have, HELP PLS !

Good video. This helped me install 8 GB of Ripjaws Ram in my Dell to double my memory to 16 GB. Super easy once I knew what to do. The tips about the RAM being spring-loaded and going in at an angle were very helpful.

You're forgetting the ground from your body to the cpu, I usually remove the battery and hold down the power button the bleed off any charge. I just noticed the blue wristband you're wearing which I assume is your ground/earth or i hope so. I would be interested to learn why you choose Ripjaw over say HyperX>

Hello Nick, do these memory kits (G.Skill 2x4GB 1600 Mhz) work at a frequency of 1066 MHz? Are timings lower? I'm asking, because I've got the same laptop and I want to upgrade my memory, but FSB of this laptop operates at 1066 MHz, so I've thought that I have to buy DDR3 1066 MHz memory kits instead of 1600 or 1333.

I've had no problems with using 8GB of memory on my laptop even when I ran multiple virtual machines(Used more than 4GB when I did this). The only problem you may run into is that your system might have a 32-bit version of windows which can't read more than 4GB of memory.

Yeah that's a good spec list. Though many stock HD 6950's(reference cards) can be bios flashed to a HD 6970. I only suggest that if you feel fine with the possibility of bricking your GPU. The ram should be at a speed like 1600MHz. Also look into getting a Z77 chipset mobo. That has the features of a Z68 mobo but with the extra SSD caching feature. I know it will make your HDD act faster since it will be using a small SSD as a cache to load data into and make it load nearly as quickly as a SSD.
