Hi Damian, What do you think of getting Fringe EF-FX Pro2 Adapter with Sigma 100-600mm Sport-final price almost the same as Fuji 100-400mm but with extra zoom of 600mm? Plus open up whole cheaper varieties of Sigma/Tokina/Tamron lens? Such as Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 Pro2 instead of Fuji 8-16mm f2.8, with huge price difference & weight?
Hi Damian, a new friend here. I was thinking of buying long lens for my X-T4. I am considering between 2 lenses - 1st is the 50-140MM or the 100-400MM. I don't which one should I buy. I love both landscape and wildlife or bird photography or any nature photography. I am a beginner in photography and just learn it from youtube and attending some full courses. Which do you prefer for me to buy and why? Thank you.
Nowadays it's an excellent lens for street photography. I've got this lens myself and I must say that I was blown away with the image quality of the pictures. I took it on a trip to Antarctica and I got some really spectacular shots with this lens. The only major drawback is the sharpness at the far end of 400 mm, but even then the sharpness of the center is still quite good.
I have a question. What to buy? Expensive fuji 100-400 fuji, or fringer adapter and tamron or sigma 100-400 ?:)
looks very good, is that sharper than a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM MK1?

I just heard a video where the guy says to set the I S mode to 2 when using this lens. Do you agree? I have the Xt1 and he thinks Fuji should put a note of this for consumers.

This wasn't a lens "review", merely rattling off specs. As you stated it's a lens for sports and wildlife so it would have been more informative for viewers to test it out for that purpose and then report back on its performance and results in what would actually be a review.
I borrowed a 100-400 fuji lens, on my xt20 it was heavy but not too much i took nice bird photos and  as long as I lift the lens and not the camera is it ok i  owns 23mmf2 10-24mm 18-135mm and 55-200mm fujion lenses perhaps im purchasing the 100-400mm
Why convert to Full Frame?! It's a 100-400, end of line.

Hi Damian, I've been watching some of your fuji reviews and I wanted to congratulate you for the job well done, man. One thing I'd like to recommend would be for you to enable the focusing sound when testing the focusing speed. That makes it much easier to understand how fast it is. Cheers.

Afaik, the Fuji X-Trans sensor gives you exactly 1.5x crop, which would make it eq. to 150-600mm.
Living in the UK (Wales,Neath) this lens is 'farrrrr toooo slowwww' for sports. Tried it with my XT2 and too many blurred or very soft images because, as we sports shooters know- F2.8 is a must! My Canon F2.8L IS 400mm lens and 70-200mm f2.8 lens looks like still being my go-too sports gear I'm afraid!

I bought my copy of the 100-400mm lens last year. It really is a very sharp lens. At the start of 2020 I was in Antarctica and the images I took with my X-T2 and this lens were amazing. I compared my pictures with a Nikon D850 that were taken by a professional photographer on board and the only noticeable difference is the depth of field that is (considerably) better with the Nikon. Regarding sharpness I saw no difference whatsoever and the better resolution of the Nikon pictures was negligible. The only major drawback is the price of 1800 euro which is a hefty price tag for a lens most people will use only a few times. I purchased mine with a cashback of 350 euro when the lens was 1600 euro so in the end I only paid 1250 euro which is imho a more correct price for this lens.
You can get very good telephoto landscape shots with this lens. So keep it. I'm not sponsored by Fuji either.

Thanks for the review of the lens. I have XT1 and am planning to buy this lens soon for wildlife photography in Southern Alberta. I wish I had the lens when I was in Australia as the wildlife there are less afraid of humans.

Thumbs up but I'm sure on some of those shots you could have used a much lower shutter speed in order to get a lower ISO

I’ve just moved and I’m surrounded by woods, I went for a wander which was supposed to be a landscape scouting mission, but I spent more time wishing I had a longer lens, birds everywhere, and some deer. I’ve only photographed birds or animals when in Africa (3 trips so far) but with so much on my doorstep I’m going to invest in a long lens and broaden my photography horizons.

Using this lens with the Xt4/IBIS on a tripod, do you suggest OIS on or off? What if hand holding? OIS on or off?

Wildlife and bird photography is my hobby, and my XT-2 camera and 100-400mm lens combination is perfect for it. My profile pic is one of the first shots I took after I bought the camera and lens almost 2 years ago. Since then I have been experimenting more with getting off full auto - lots to learn! But each day I understand a bit more about using my camera and I really appreciate your videos which are not only full of good tips and advice but very entertaining too!
I've been using this lens for a few months and it has blown away any doubts I may of had about using this system for fast paced action photography. I mainly shoot birds in flight and this lens on the "old" X-T2 is awesome for that. Just waiting for more local sporting events to start up again so I can try it out on that, but I have no doubt it will perform just as well.

note that on the overblown highlights (inevitable on a day like that) were bloomed, or it certainly looks like it.. heck maybe their camera actually does that, I doubt they shot on film.
And the most important question of all, How is the focus speed?
Should be a little pricey
