FOTODIOX Leica R Adapter REVIEW
Mount Retro Pentax K-mount lenses on your DSLR with the Pentax K-Mount Lens Adapter from Fotodiox
Hi ! is it comabitble with a Helios 44M LENS ?
i cant seem to find these old 8mm cameras anywhere
May I know what is the equivalent mm to Pentax q on d mount 0.5”, 1”, 1.5” ?
Hi there, I have Pentax ks-1 and I want to use a cctv lens 50mm. I have c-P/Q adapter but its not fit with my camera. Can you please tell me which adapter I can use to fit the lens? Thanks in advance.
How do you focus with the old movie camera lens
The lens looks a little soft...
Hi , that old D mount lens of yours is old school yes , but they will give a fantastic colour when the light source is behind the camera. Thanx for your videos.
Would this work on canon eos m? I was planning on doing D mount to C mount and C mount to eos m
I just bought a Q10 on ebay and a fotodiox f-mount lens adapter from Fotodiox to use Nikkor F-mount film lenses with the Q10. I love the Fotodiox adapters. But on this video the example pix shown using the D-Mount adapter were terrible. Very blurry, nothing in sharp focus. They looked like pix from a 1950's Brownie camera with a plastic lens.
Can you please make a Pentax Q to m12 mount? I made one up by adapting to C then C to M12, but I had to take apart the Q to C adapter to make it focus to infinity. Using a 2.8mm webcam type lens gave a surprisingly good quality fisheye effect.
The fotodiox AR to Q adapter does not focus to infinity. Kind of makes it a piece of useless junk.
Wonders,... has anyone tried to adapt a Canon XL lens to a Pentax Q mount ?
just got my Fotodiox adapter for Pentax QS-1 to 42m. So I'm waiting for the Pentax Q camera to turn up from Asia! I already have a stack of 42mm prime lenses from back in the day i'm dying to try out. The Fotodiox is clearly better made than the Pixco I already have. So what will happen when I drop Ziess prime glass on the "Q".. watch this space. I snap wildlife so the 4.6 crop factor with 250mm lenses gives me 1150mm. This is like being a National Geo photo journal on a budget... :) I love the concept since ART will drive the resulting images instead of money
Hi, I would like to know, will this adapter be suitable for Canon CL 8-120 mm 1/1.4-2.1 (video lens)? Can I use this adapter with Canon CL 8-120 mm with Pentax Q mirrorless camera?
I love this concept. Thanks Fotodiox I have a BUNCH of vintage lenses for sale.... Picked them up here and there ... Just an  FYI
Interesting video, thanks.  Can you tell me if the Keystone cameras that have 3 lenses on a turret, are all individually D mount lenses, and therefore would work in this application.  Some of these cameras are out there for a few bucks also, and would if adaptable provide 3 times the fun, or something.
No video?
Myself, as well as many other Q users, would love to see a micro four thirds adapter for the Q cameras.
Sorry but the photos and video are horrible, out of focus and blurry !
That's not "doughnut" bokeh, those are dust motes. Thanks for the video, but either you're out of focus or that lens is as sharp as a nerf ball.
This is such poor quality
Why didn't you just get a pentax fit t2 mount then a pentax to pentax q adaptor?
The timelapse effect of your speeded up video was my favourite shot. I think this might have worked better with a sharp 135mm or 200mm and some cropping (provided the shots were just for YouTube or sharing on social media). I find the longer the lens (x crop factor) is, the more likely it is that even the tiniest movement of the tripod can kill the sharpness of an image. Sometimes, using a shorter focal length, even with heavy cropping, just turns out a lot better. You could even use a cheap consumer x-300mm zoom, like the Tamron 70-300mm - I've managed to get some acceptable shots of the moon my K-mount telezooms mounted to a MFT camera - it might work out on a Q. I've wanted to pick up a Q for YEARS and try it with long lenses though!
Small sensor and F8 500mm lens is going to be pretty slow. I'd try it on a Nikon v1 which is a 10mp 1 inch sensor interchangeable lens camera, you'll get a 2.7 crop, so about 1300mm equivalent, about the same you'd get with 50/60x optical zoom on a super zoom bridge camera. Other alternative is to try it on a lumix gx 80 being a 2x crop larger sensor, that'd give a 1000mm, more light plus that camera has inbody I.s, unfortunately most mirror lenses aren't that sharp, but the trade off is they're lightweight
Thank you for this video
It's a shame that most mirror lenses on the market are cheaply made, yet mirror optics are more than capable of achieving phenomenal results and even outperforming refractors if made properly. There's a reason why so many of the world's greatest telescopes use mirrors instead of lenses. I wonder what a mirror lens made by Celestron, Orion, Meade, or some other telescope company would be like.
Well, that mirror lens doesn't have quality, that's the reason it can cost around $40, but thank you, to show the quality, was exactly what I'm looking to know about this lens, nice video
Cool. It makes me want to go out and buy that camera set up and try it myself.
You probably need a better screen with good magnification zoom to properly focus the moon. I've got good results from my YI M1 micro four thirds camera with a Canon FD 70-210/4 lens. This camera can do 10x magnification and it has a more modern display than the Pentax Q one, so I got a better focused moon although lacking such magnification. My next try will be using a FD 100-300/5.6 lens with a teleconverter. This way I'm planning getting a 1200mm equivalent field of view. Not bad considering it's a MFT mount with a 20MP Sony sensor, which allows better cropping than the Pentax Q.
Why couldn’t you get an area where there was no tree in front of you?
Thats a bad quality "lens"....
I wish your future adapters have aperture control rings for Pentax k mount to q
I tried to use a mirror lens during the eclipse, biggest regret of the whole experience. It wasn't properly aligned at those ranges. I even bought 3 beforehand and returned the others that were very clearly not focusing correctly, kept the best one, but it apparently still wasn't good enough :( I wish I had just picked up a sigma 150-600 instead :(
Hi! I would purchase that lens for my Sony. Could be posible that you send me some moon photos taken with that lens? Thanks!
Pretty cool, was thinking of getting a mirror lens
hello….. sr. is it adaptable for Nikon d3400?
I have a mirror lens but I bought one with a screw mount. With adapters I can mount it on more than one camera.
guys i wanna do the same on a vintage Pentax k1000 do you have an idea? it could be my first time. I thought to a double converter pentax +adapter+500mm lens... i can't find vivitar 500
Spot on
Liked for the haircut.
Hello Sean, I got an adapter, but it does not seem to work on full frame, I bought it in December 2018 and your video is pretty old. It seems to work on my EOS M3 and Old Rebel, on my 6D it looks dark at the bottom. Any help?
How about reverse situation - I need to mount Canon EF to Pentax K. Is it possible?
I have pentax k 1000 mkII camera with 55 mm lens and i want to use this lens on my canon rebel sl2 Please help me to find out cheap and good adaptor !! I m from india
Hi, thanks for your video. Very clear and promotes the fun to be had thrift store lens hunting too. I'm selling an ef adapted lens on ebay and wondered if you'd mind me linking your video to my current listing to provide knowledge to my buyers. I have a PK to EF mount adapter. I used it on a t2i but now I wanted to upgrade my kit to high speed af and recoup my money from my excellent Tokina PKa 60-300 lens for this project.
Guess there isn't one for canon full frame then aye 😑
does your company make pentax adapters for nikon bodies or just canon? and also do you lose any f stops with an adapter?
Need help... I have several old lenses I used on my Pentax K1000 years ago.....Tou/Five Star Mc auto f=28mm 1:2.8, Tou/Five Star Mc auto MACRO zoom 75-200mm 1:4.5, Tou/Five Star 1:8 f=500mm, Pentax-M 1:2 50mm, Tiffen 2x telephoto converter 37mm, and Gemini auto 2x tele-converter. I am looking to buy a new Pentax DSLR that I can use these lenses on. I want this for vacations & shooting outdoors. Any recommendations?
Hey! I just bought a Pk-Eos mount to adapt my smc pentax-fa 28-80mm f3.5 5.6 to a Canon 60d. It doesn't work, the camera doesn't recognize the lens. It was this adaptor http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pentax-PK-K-Lens-to-Canon-EOS-EF-Mount-Adapter-Ring-Camera-Converter-/400947164814?hash=item5d5a50368e%3Ag%3ATeYAAOSwLVZVkQjS
I couldnt use it at all, got asked for firmware updates
Sean, I remain a little confused. Good video but doesn't address two issues. I have a Cannon Rebel T6. You sell two adapter rings, one with a "chip" in it one without. The info on the Fotodiox web site makes no mention of the T6 camera. It does say Rebel and that both will work on a "Rebel". I keep seeing people having to remove the electronic contacts from the adapter in order to correct some software issue. Why? And will I need to do that if I buy that version just to see if it works? And you don't address the tab sicking out on the back of the Pentax lenses at all. People are cutting them off and or bending them over. Other than experimenting and taking the chance of ruining a nice camera by the mirror striking the tab, how can one determine if one needs to tamper with the tab at all? It sure would be nice to be able to put the lens back on the Pentax body and continue to use it as intended.
I bought an adapter, the first week was fine but now my camera ask for a lens firmware update eveytime I try to use the adapter, any help with that?
Hello I have a penkax-K SMC 70-210mm Will it fit to my Nikon d3200 please?
the k mount part that sticks out on the lens interferes with the mirror on my 5d mkii and needs to be cut off
At :30 I saw the entire lens turn when you adjusted the aperture ring ... why doess this happen and how does this effect the focus? Is this a flaw in the mount connecting the lens to the camera?
Hi Sean, I am now looking to get the bests Mount Adapter, M42 Lens to Pentax K Cameras and I see that Fotodiox produce one. Recommendations on most forums state the best is to use the genuine Pentax make (as there are some very cheap versions which are not good) . Can you guarantee with hionesty that your product is as good as the genuine Pentax one?
I now have all 3 Pentax S-M-C Takuma 200mm, 85mm and 28mm prime lenses using - of course - Fotodiox lens adaptors and have managed to capture some lovely images with these lenses. And +dvrapant is quite right - prices continue to rise - so I consider them and investment now. :-)
is that the 43mm fa limited?
what lens is that?
