sounds like a fire alarm lol
Thanks Adrian for this great review. i know the product is a little old now but I found it helpful and learned a lot - even a bit about uPNP. Good to know about the audio recording/playback problems as this is an important feature for me and one which I would have taken for granted.
I think you can get WIFI on this by using an usb wifi dongle. At least someone one some review said that wifi options will be enabled if you stick a wifi usb dongle in it.
Wow this is one of the best reviews i've ever seen!
Hello Adrian, I'm writing from Rome (Italy). I viewed your GREAT review several times. Just a quick question. I have 4 foscam cameras connected and all of them have the same problem; every 5 to 10 seconds there is a VIDEO LOSS, then the video comes back again, then VIDEO LOSS and so on. Any chance to know if you had the same problem ? Thanks a lot!
Adrian, may I ask you if a router or Network splitter is needed, or does the cam connects directly to the NVR? I am looking for a solution that does not involve any internet, just a simple off the grid live view. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you
as far as i know its linux and to watch you may have to do only via software , not hook it up to pc
I bought the fn3004H nvr and started it up. Foscam has been working and giving me motion detection since last March to my iphone but I recently setup the fn3004H to record the motion. I can not see it on my screen and cant figure out why. both are ethernet to my router.
Really useful review, which answered many questions for me!
Will this work with a Foscam FI9828P camera ()?
Thanks.
Did you ever get the audio working ?
Edit: The manuals for the FN3004H (which has the FN3104H on the cover as well) don't mention any support for it but the manual for the FN3104H and FN3109H do. hu? XD
Edit2: The global site doesn't even mention the FN3004H, same with UK, the french site has a grid for each NVR showing that none of them support audio recording, is the manual for the FN310xH wrong ? I guess I'll have to give a call to be sure.
Can it record continuously to a HDD? Also, have you tried connecting a 2.5 inch HDD to it?
thanks for the review, what kind of foscam camera did you use? And what are your camera settings and keyframe interval settings? I have 2 x fi9805w camera and use the 3004 with a 320GB 5400rpm disk have you tried that and noticed differences?
hi adrian, many thanks for your review on this mini nvr. You are correct that this is kinda "rebadged" products from china. I am currently looking at another nvr kit, this time it is "Cotier" brand but it looks quite the same as the one that you have reviewed. But the "cotier" one has a power button on top of the box.
It is good to know that USB hub works. For the storage, the way I understand it is the SATA drive serves as the primary storage for the device then if you want to view the video on another machine, you export it to USB
I have one question though, can you confirm if there really is no audio recording? Thanks!
Fantastic, comprehensive review. Thanks a lot!
Bro if those are inside/outside foscams, the nightvision option works amazing. You gotta mess around with it because mine was full black outside showing nothing when i put them up, now its like looking in the daytime. Not sure if it works on that box though.
thank you, this was exactly as thorough as i needed it to be

Saludos.

See our review of Foscam's camera with artificial intelligence: . How do you connect a hard drive to this NVR ? And could someone recommend which one to get please thanks
How do you ground a outdoor cctv camera?
Please show pictures, I've heard of it but never seen someone ground a outdoor security camera. I'm starting to think it is not worth it.
1080hp is poor , why not cut the US plug off and put on a uk plug?
that houses pipework ! OMG its so janky ( of course older houses are ,way before the modern regs on how pipes and wires are laid in str8 lines
Have set the cctv up with no problem, but I cant get the App or the web interface to recognise my NVR, what am I doing wrong ?
Thanks for the awesome review. What is the delay on the camera image when using the mobile app?
When am trying to connect the nvr device to my iPhone it shows connection time out I don't know why ?
Hi i need help please
How do you set it to send alarms to the App? It seems to only allow emails to be sent. (I have iphone version of App)

VERY complete video , thanks!
CAN I ACCESS MY CAMERAS FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY ? I WILL BE GOING ON VACATION AND I WANT TO KNOW IF I WOULD BE ABLE TO WATCH ON MY PHONE OR LAPTOP IN REAL TIME WHATS GOING ON AT MY HOUSE ? THNAKS
Hi Skill Builder. Can you add a siren to this NVR? can you also add extra cameras to it? Thanks.
Depends what you mean by high definition. The box is clearly labelled 720P, which means 720 vertical lines scanned progressively that is, one after the other. True UK high definition has rather better resolution, with 1,080 vertical scan lines but is interlaced - every other line scanned, then the missing ones done. A progressive scan is better for fast action and probably more suited to a security application. Also with a lower resolution these cameras shown may have bigger pixels (picture elements), making them more sensitive in low light, quite important in a security application. Rather depends on what the customer really needs and what their budget is! High resolution daytime or slightly lower resolution but good night vision? Or both? Which starts getting expensive, especially with eight cameras. UHD is something else, four times the resolution and a progressive scan. Not so good in low light though. Now, I should have muddied the waters completly! Bob.
Watch out for the Foscam dome cameras that record to SD cards. All the literature says you can access it fully from the phone app but you cannot. I wasted a lot of time trying to get 3 working properly including over an hour with their technical. I prefer HIKvision myself.
Handy being POE as some houses are now rigged with cat5e/6 these days a you won't need to run any more cabling. Or at a push you could use you could dril a hole through a wall nearest to a plug socket and use the power line adapters which do POE.
North or South Circular?
should hide the main cctv processing unit so that when burglars breached into your house, they will not able to find the harddrive and destroy it.
