That moment that the Tonal is dinged for only having 100lbf per arm when the Forme Life only has 75lbf per arm but isn't dinged for it. Bias detected.
Nahh, forme life has a place in the market but tonal is still the machine I'm currently after. The only things I see that attract me to the forme life is the screen and live classes. Supposedly tonal will offer live classes at some point and personally I can live without the impressive screen. Lacks a bench too but I suppose you can just get one. That's more money though and it's already higher priced than tonal.
This review is not right, biased towards Forme Life - it criticizes Tonal for only having 100lb per arm and doesn't mention how much Forme has (much less) = Each arm offers up to 75lbs of resistance (or ONLY 50lbs if youre using it freestanding!!!).. Tonal's full features were not mentioned such as its amazing AI tech (Eccentric, chains, spotter modes), the camera is there because they say they will implement live classes soon, a TON of new features are continuing to be developed by the day, new updates, new coaches, new cool and smart features. Oh and Forme is about $1000 more than Tonal. Forme seems to be hitting the web hard with marketing $$$ and biased reviews all over the place. Tonal has proven real-life reviews all over YouTube while Forme is still on PRE-ORDER...

I feel that your review is biased since you dont own a Life Form machine and you only use tonal. A little less expensive , but how much? You didnt say. Not a fair review .

The designer part of Forme and the look seems to be very "Apple Like" Not sure I like seeing the trainer and me in the reflection. Feels like a lifestyle statement. I also thought the Forme was digital weight. Thank you for clarifying. You are building the case for Tonal for me. But the warranty issues need to improve.
AGREED!!! Mirror is a glorified YouTube exercise routine tho they do have feedback. but how much is that really worth? i did TRX workouts from YouTube for months during the pandemic...and still believe Tonal's form factor and AI environ is best of class so far...
Ah, i found you review. I think Life Forme Lift is still in the pre-order phase. Basically it's a hybrid of Mirror + Tonal but a lil uglier in physical form bc it's so much more "present" in one's home.
Thanks for the comparison Joey.It's been 6 months and Studio Lift seems to be vaporware still.One thing I have noticed that no one seems to be talking about is HOW the arms are attached to Tonal vs Studio Lift. Please keep in mind that I have seen neither in person, however when I look at the webpage for Studio Lift and all their promo materials it seems to me their arms do not move up and down. They rotate up and down, but do not move. So it is basically unusable with a bench - because with a bench you want the arms to be not just low, but also "far out", but for Studio Lift they are only far out when at the shoulder height, can't be far out when at the ground level - so no bench press.Now, I can be wrong on this - again, there are still no reviews of it and I can't see one in real life, but if that is indeed the case that feels like a huge limitation of the Studio Lift.
Im with you. If I cant find legit reviews on something especially at that price point, Im hesitant. At this point it feels like a Kickstarter/Indiegogo project.At this point Im interested in watching for the development of the Tonal (version 2 in the future?) and selling my Tempo.
That thing is not even "flashier" than the Tonal. It's a high-def YouTube screen that you can use to follow YouTube exercises...The cost is $4,495. Their attempt to approximate the Tonal AI and weight system is the real gimmick. If they can get 100 lbs of tension, per arm, without the system being mounted on the wall, that would be the only advantage they'd have over Tonal...and I still would not buy it. "Me Too" products rarely live up to the original. THE COST IS $4,495. This must be for Instagram models and sugar-babies on a daddy budget.

Hi Joey, thx for the work reviewing tonal. I can't believe there are so few YouTube videos on this product. My concern with it is that all the reviews I see for it are either by those who work for the company or women. And I'm not saying that offensively, just that the weight amount they are used to is far below what men usually lift. Is this machine good for intermediate experienced weightlifters who usually bench press (as a guidance of weights) between 185-225 lbs. My ultimate goal is to become healthier and back in shape, get stronger and look and feel better. I've had the bow flex and always felt that device to function different than actual free weights mainly because you don't utilize the stabilizing muscles. And I realize this uses different principle than bow flex. I've seen, for example, people use the bar attachment on the tonal and it looks slightly wobbly, something you don't see with free weights. What's your take for someone like me, described above? I would be excited to get it with more reviews but at the current price, I can't see myself just jumping in without more information. People are thrown off by the cost but you don't need to spend much.I pay 200 a month, 0% APR financing.Included everything and a 2 year membership.I pay 110 a month for my gym membership, has pool, tennis, indoor track, etc etc.I don't waste anytime with this machine, and one interesting fact is single number weights, 21, 22, 23 etc. In the gym, it's every 5 or 10 lbs.Lastly gravity versus magnetic weights.I noticed I lift less weight on tonal then the gym. I can bench 180 at 140 lbs of body weight but here I can barely do 100 lbs?

This was a topic I was just talking to a friend about earlier today, regarding the forme studio lift being somewhat of a comparable competitor to the Tonal.You actually clarified some things about the studio lift that I was unclear of before, mainly the weight limitations and how it's a motorized pulley system vs the digital weight system that tonal is. I also thought with the forme studio lift you could have it either free standing or mounted to the wall but didn't realize it was two different versions of their machine (50lbs free standing vs 75lbs mounted) and I was originally interested in the idea of the free standing one due to the fact I might be moving soon and unsure on ability to mount something on a wall that I haven't seen yet.Long winded comment I know but ultimately I really think I wanna invest in the tonal and invest in myself with this device when I can. I'm not sure if you touched on it in this video and maybe I just overlooked it but I also believe from my research before that the forme studio lift has about the same price tag as tonal. Thanks to your review of both of them I've come to realize that you just get a whole lot more bang for your buck with tonal than with the studio lift as of now, especially since the studio lift isn't even out yet and as you said might have to wait awhile and see what the forme studio actually ends up being like.I'm like you in the way that I don't wanna buy something completely new to the game without any legitimate reviews but this was a major point on why I haven't invested in tonal yet (when I was interested probably about a year ago or so) and as you covered in one of your latest videos about tonals marketing/advertising, those videos made me more skeptical and concerned about it than make me more interested and enticed to buy.Your channel and reviews about the tonal are the best I've come across and seen Joey. It's really cool to see the progress you've made with tonal alongside you putting in more effort to inform others about tonal and how it works and it's capabilities. If I would've seen someone doing what you're doing a year ago or so I probably would've had my own by now but to this day I don't think I've seen anyone doing anything like what you're doing with tonal dude so keep it up my guy!
