Guys this unit has an accuracy of plus or minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit at the temperature range where your measuring the temperature this will not work accurately for any covid-19 applications please read the specifications industrial ir units are not made for this application and in my opinion will put people's health at risk when used incorrectly please search how to use an infrared thermometer to understand how to use it

Common emissivity tables suggest an EMS setting of .95 to .98 for human skin.
I verified this setting using a (calibrated) contact thermometer. It still is just a first and fast check. please don´t rely on only an infrared thermometer for private use.
Put some water on the boil and calibrate it to 100C (or the F equivalent) IT still might not be totally accurate back at room temperature, but it'll be a lot closer.
Take the reading inside the ear, it is less prone to being affected by the outside air temp (think your son and the heater).

The Chinese make IR has some resolution issue at different temp range ex. around 32 F it has poor accuracy

we have 3 new fluke 59 max IR meters . its being used for screening corona patients for high body temperature but apparently all the 3 of them are showing wrong temperatures simultaneously .so if you can kindly help us set the settings correctly it will will hugely helpful. thanks in advance.

As per the label on the GM550 Thermometer, the blue one, the distance to spot ratio is 12:1, while the Fluke is rated at 8:1. To get accurate comparative readings, these two cannot be held together and measure the temp from the same distance. Could you please redo the tests in your video by measuring the temps at the correct distance per thermometer? It would be helpful to see the differences then.
I know what the problem is... you. You are using them incorrectly, your technique is off and we don’t even know what the ratio is for the chinese knockoff.

WHAT USE ? Answer: Use an infrared thermometer, and put your home upgrade money to the spots you are wasting your energy. Do it yourself energy survey using the infrared thermometer during the coldest days of the year, to see where you need to put your house renovation/insulation money towards. If you live in a home 30 years plus, do that soon, and then don't keep wasting money losing energy out of your house which will add up to tens of thousands of dollars wasted energy over 30 plus years. Find your own heat loss areas, and put your money fixing those areas!
I do 3-5 thousand home gas meter inspections a year, and one of the customer tips is do it yourself energy home heat loss surveying yourself. Put your home renovation money where it will save you energy heat loss savings long range.
Other tips to longrange stop wasting money losing it through bad insullation, etc, are windows. The modern windows are only better than the old "farm style storm windows system" if the old farm style storm windows need replacement or framing massive gaps, but usually the old farm style sash windows have lost their storm windows from the house, so all that is left is the single pane inner window that loses of course more energy than the modern double pane replacement windows.
But the new double pane windows do NOT beat the energy bills of the properly maintained OLD farm style storm window system, I know from customers' telling me their gas bills and showing me their properly maintained old farm windows system.
I have done tens of thousands of home visits, and the best gas energy bills homes are 1) Old Farm style homes with maintained old style storm windows in place, which act like little greenhouses around the home, due to the 6 to 8 inches air gap between the inner and outer storm window, huge gaps, but the windows tightly properly maintained. 2) The "Aluminum Storm Window System" properly maintained with the typical 4 inch air gap between inner and outer storm window, also, properly maintained.
Modern double paned windows have less than a 2 inch air gap between inner and outer pane.
It's physics. Modern windows don't match the aluminum 4 inch gap, nor match the old farm window 6 to 8 inch air gap. It's simply modern windows aren't air gaping enough to produce that natural green house effect.
I base my above on thousands of customer feedback answers to who has the best winter "high" gas bills. .
I'd say the modern windows system has been wasting energy overall, my on the ground guess. They might be convenient and require less or no maintenance, but energy lost costs just aren't discussed, and no one knows about how good of a saving the old farm style wooden framed and properly maintained storm windown systems which still are in use, actually are. My "best" savings customer is an old farm house, their old maintained, all flloors and basement windows also, on average are 8 inches window air gaps for their storm windows to inner windows.
Use the infrared thermometers to see where you are losing your heat energy to the cold outside coming through and see what the temperatures are from the top inner walls and ceilings and windows of your home, top to bottom. I'd start at the top of your home from the inside, of course, since heat rises and you lose a lot of heat air rising out through your attic floor and roof. Then work down from the top of your house on the inside, your inner walls and windows in your home. Use it and save yourself tens of thousands of dollars over the life of living in your home if you live there for decades.

The thermal diode in the cheap Chinese one has to cool off for 30 mins. Also the diode light is huge. You have to be close to keep it small. Why the Fluke has a rated response time. Distance from an object. Yet still be accurate to it's rating on the Data sheet. You get what you pay for...
