the wheel scrolling is very choppy and jumpy as well.
I just got mine, and am quite disappointed on the amount of research I had to do to try and find out what software I need to access playlists and such. it comes with NO software for the PC, and so far I think I'll return it and find another unit. The sound quality on several high end phones produce a very neutral sound. Not worth the money.

I bought mine back in 2015. my only issue with it is i still cant figure out how to transfer an entire play list from my computer to the device. It wont let me select an entire album and add it to a play list either. have to do it one track at a time. Other than that I love it. its strong. compact. I use it when i work out and when I'm on the go to listen to music. running errands or at work. lasts long and no issues with battery power. had it in my pocket when doing construction and landscaping. thing is still in perfect condition. came with a rubber case to protect it. no dings no dents no scratches. still has the plastic screen protector on it. DEFINITELY PREFER A REAL MP3 PLAYER OVER A CELLPHONE FOR MUSIC ANY-DAY.
Just ordered mine via Amazon UK.. Can't wait.. love the "old school" design... y'know some of us don't want touch screen this and touch screen that.. love buttons and jog wheels..

Had mine since December 2014, still going strong. Wish it worked with the Dragonfly Red DAC but hey ho, you can't have everything I guess. Good video, thank you.
Pretty neat review. But I think I'll stick to my Chinese junk agptek. It supports wav files as well and it lasts several times longer, at a much cheaper price.
can you use it as an amplifier for pc? i mean connect it to the pc and listen to music from it.i know that you can not use it as a dac.
does it have playlists? can you transfer your playlists to a player? any software comes with it that you can install to computer?
i had the second generation and sent it back. cuz the bluetooth was terrible. And the touchwheel omg. Maybe i will buy the first generation with an extra bluetooth transmitter!

great review. my iPod classic 80 GB is not syncing at all. I've had it for over 10 years and it saddens me that it's not working properly now. not going to lie, i probably could work on it but I'm so sick of dealing with this garbage every time iTunes wants to update. i think i'll be trying out the fiio x1 and see if it's a good fit so i can finally move on!

Something every review is missing and you *almost* got there. What does browsing the library look like? Specifically if you drill down from Artist -> Album, do album and track names get truncated?Classical albums are particularly problematic, when you see five tracks all named "Mahler: Symphony #2 'Resurr" or something like that. So far I've only seen one music player app (Picky, for iOS) that wraps long titles around so they can actually be read. Does the X1 do that, or does it just show one short line and truncate?
