*Edit* I realize the transition between a generic 'IADS/IAMD' and the Russian Joint CIS Air Defense system is a bit awkward, a better comparison would have to explain IADS, and then mention examples like NATINADS and Объединённая система ПВО СНГ. #inb4
Why do we have to help Ukraine in the first place? :|
Could Ukraine use a Patriot missile type defence system?
Unfortunately I think the answer in Ukraine is "stop the war now".
The best outcome for Ukraine is to be a neutral state.
Ukraine is being destroyed, as we speak. I don't think that there is a military solution that is acceptable.
Talk of a "no fly zone" is outright dangerous.
For the reasons given in this video (it would involve direct NATO intervention).
It doesn't mean I support the invasion or that I like President Putin.
I just think you have to acknowledge the fact that Ukraine isn't winning, that it's difficult to deliver weapons were they are needed and that the price of the war is increasing by the day.
I wished Western media would contain more specific information (like the above video) and less sloaganering. I live in Sweden but I get the impression that mainstream media in the West is basically all the same. If you want more detailed information read The Financial Times or listen to experts in various fields.
While agreeing with you in most aspects, I think this war will be a way longer affair than we all wish it to be, and thus also long term solutions, or system which will need a lot of time for implementation and training, should be considered.
And if it is for a peace time Ukraine. Russia can never be trusted even if a diplomatic solution should be in reach.
I see you included Patriot in the "long range" SAMs, go ahead and tell us what MIM stands for ;)
At around 18:06 they light the whole field on fire around their vehicle lol. I assume they are probably Russians because they did the same thing in a video posted from Ukraine, it wasn’t as much fire as this one though. I wish the clip had kept rolling I assume they had to move or put the fire out.
1:00 : the "slidy thing" (sic) is called a "scrubber" in English.
I think Ukraine could operate most systems relatively fast if there were a live connection to some experts in the donating nation ready to give live support and advice!
Maybe they would not have full effect as the operation was slower in the beginning. But on the other hand, it's always faster to learn things by doing it than by having theory and simulation.
There is no need to show your photo
I don't have money to help this channel but I highly love his content, people who have money, consider supporting him.
I love air defense systems because they defend the air
...Slovakia gifted all its soviet era S-300 SAM sys it had, ...1 battery ~50 missiles
There’s been a lot of talk of sending weapons like SAMs and other heavy weapons. Poland was thinking of sending some mig 29s. I wonder how practical it is to actually send them to the front lines. Were they going to sneak them across the boarder by land? They can’t exactly be sent over in a large transport aircraft into Ukraine. Because those transport aircraft become a target for the Russians etc. What are your thoughts?
You might want to have a look at the Norwegian NAMAS system it's very flexible also it's in the short/medium/ and medium+ range. Also it can use both IR and radar guided missiles.
About the training issue, are you able to give numbers on what is required amount of hours of training for a soldier to become dedicated operator of certain equipment (here: various parts of AA defense)? I know such figures exist in militaries, but it's hard to find it on internet if one doesn't have proper books or documents on that topic.
What I am thinking of, is that if NATO could start training Ukrainian crews on new types of equipment that they could send them. If they started training them in first week of the war, maybe by now they'd be close to be ready to come back to Ukraine in, say, new IFVs? With advanced AA it might take longer, but maybe it would be possible. But by delaying it more and more that chance is becoming smaller. But they're still holding, so maybe it's better to start late than never? What do you think?
Training, maintenance and logistics (in general) are factors we shouldnt ignore when talking about sending over to the Ukraine..
They were asking for MiGs. Just give them MiGs. We have them they want them. Doesn't seem that complicated to me.
Air Javelin...that's the shit.....
Thank you Tellydine for shutting down there coms....and now I
Some people came for Arma 3 and many came from actual military footage... that's the big confusion🤷♂️
Who's doing the shootin'??? Ray Charles???
FAKE

Quil creve dans le ciel ces encore une trop belle mort pour eux
Gg
it just looks like the jets following the path of fire n sounds like a long fart!!
Игрушка прикольная!)
シウスみたいなのに全然当んないね。弾の大無駄使いみたいに見えますが、普通ですか?
Way too much shooting to not hit that plane. I thought the thing was radar controlled. Is it the same as CIWS? That was 2-3 million bullets!!!
I know you have to lean forward your shots but it seems it was leaning way to much forward on that first fighter plane
There are too many people thinking this is real. This is from a 2013 video game Arma 3, and the gun and jet are AI controlled. The AI sucks, and it's radar guided in reality.
Very ineffective..
Why doesn't it target All areas the jet could fly to.
Not just lead it around.
Scatter shot everywhere it might go.
Thats just sad . Fly in a circle you wont get hit
한심한 인간이군 점사격해도 맞추겠다

Is this the play station 5?
Just another game footage folks, not real.

If it had been real I can only imagine what it would have been like in the cockpit of the migs with all those 20 mm rounds tearing through the sky around you.
That thing is nasty it literaly sprays bullets like a hose
Qatar will soon discover they have bought a lemon, they should have purchased the S400.
