If you want to know if a pair of sun glasses are polarized or not, hold them up to a pair that are known to be polarized. Like in the video, rotate one of the pairs 90. If the view threw both pairs darkens then both pairs are polarized. If the view threw both pairs stays the same the the first pair is not polarized.

Question:Any idea where I can find polarized lenses that arent dark? I do a lot of gardening, so Im outside in the sun a lot. I was told to wear polarized lenses because I have a freckle in my eye. I find when I put on polarized lenses they are too dark and I cannot see the seeds I need to see, nor can I see the root systems etc. I need to be able to see the fine things and the polarized lenses are so dark I cant see. Arent there some polarized lenses that are light in color and still polarized so I can see?

Polarized sunglasses are also a no go with some protective film. They use one in the train that create an impression of "oily reflection" if I wear polarized sunglasses. I make me nauseous. That one of the reason I always carry non-polarized sunglasses in my bag when I go to work.

I buy polarized everything and some of the cuts of plastic are not horizontal in there polarization. I have issues. I have a stigmatism that causes me to so glare and halos all the time. I buy Edge polarized safety glasses for work. Edge eye wear sometimes has good cuts that work well with my light sensitivity and some don't so I have to pick thru whatthe store receives to find the best cut. I hope that makes sense to you. Since i am a Gen X'er I buy Oakleys. My Oakleys are awesome but the are not my work eye wear.

Why is it so challenging to find prescribed sunglasses that can be transitioned into standard glasses with a polarizing feature? It's hard to find eyewear with all three combinations: polarizer, transitional and prescribed. My eyes are light-sensitive, even on cloudy days, so a polarizer is needed.

I tried polarized a couple of times for my prescription sunglasses, didnt work for me. Two issues were not being able to see displays (I drive for a living) and there was some kind of visual compression going on that gave me headaches. Im good with a G15 these days.
I switched to non-polarised because I can't see the screen on my digital camera at all when wearing polarized sunglasses, and had to keep taking them off to take shots.I find *most* modern digital screens I can see with polarised lenses - my Garmin watch screen, my phone screen, the screen on my car computer - but the digital camera screen looked completely blank.
