Naka34T lang din ako at kahit nakikipagkarera mga kasama ko kapag patag, di naman ako nahuhuli. Solb yan kasi ako naka 11-46T pero 42T lang nagagamit ko kahit sa matatarik.

Nagpalit ako from 36 to 42T na chainring (Past Ques - Narrow wide oval), 1x12 setup ko 50T. Kaso, kumakabyos yung kadena, hindi ko magamit yung malalaking cogs. Hidi ko sure kung ano problema, compatible ba ang 42T sa 1x12 setup? and ano magandang solution para magamit ko yung mga gears?

Nagamit ko na sir ung 34t chainring at 14-28t cogs, as 1x7 set up, para sken swabe lang ung gaan pag gamit ang no.6 cogs(2nd smallest) ndi stress sa tuhod pag npadyak, then sa no.7 ung mas mabigat na, ok na ok sa bilis,pero n try ko isagad sa no.1(pinakamalaki na cogs) so far malambot sya althought my bitin pa din,. I'm happy with the 9-speed groupset and triple crankset that came with my sport touring 2003 Trek 520 road bike and the 8-speed groupset with a triple crankset that came with my 2000 Norco Sasquatch XC mountain bike. I never liked tapered bottom bracket and was happy with Shimano Octalink and there are many parts to improve and make better and lighter, but who asked for all this nonsense, 11-speed, 12-speed, or even 13-speed?
I like my triples 52-38-30 with 32-11 and 46-36-24 and 34-14 on each of my road bikes. It's nice having a 24/34 on a road bike if I don't want to go up every hill as fast as I can. A 46/14 would probably be a bit limiting on a really fast group ride but I can always change the cassette if it's an option.
I feel that the triple has been forced out and is much underrated. I still use one - I live in a hilly area.

If you're climbing steep hills put on a 40 cassette you will need a wolf tooth road link with a 39 50 cranks i can climb any hill with this set up

You are very good at explaining, but I suggest you use the word "solo" rather than "lonely", rozumiesz?
What the industry will not tell you is that wide range cassettes are absurd for multiple chainrings due to duplicate ratios. They did this to phase out triples and provide gear ratios with no regard for smooth, gapless shifting. The Campy 13-26 or 13-29 ten speed cassettes with a 30/42/53 triple (which they had not long ago) is almost ideal for range and smooth shifting together. Shimano's 12-28 cassette gets close, but only the Tiagra is available as a new road triple (30/39/50). If someone says that triples do not adjust well, then they are just showing incompetence.
hello, can I ask for advice? I ride cx bike with triple crankset 50-39-30 and a 12-25 cassete, 10 speed. Is there some option for a cassete where I can get a higher gear ratio (I have an impression when I am in highest gear: 50-12, I feel that I can put s higher gear and ride a little bit faster). I know that road bike configuration with standard and semi compact cranksets is faster option but i really prefer cx bikes, because of ocasional offroad. Thanks.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm riding a triple crank "touring mountain bike" & I have just found I can upgrade from the standard 42 big ring to a 48. Is that going to make a noticeable difference at the top end or should I look for a 50? I am a strong rider & of course the medium & small ring handle the rough stuff, I'm looking for top end on tarmac sections. Thanks for any advice!

Why standard chainset is faster than compact?
I don't have much experience with many crank options, but it really seems that triples are underrated. I ride a 50-39-30 and find the small ring very useful in those steep hills, and when changing between rings the difference is not as high as with doubles, so it's easier to pick up the cadence.
Which one's gonna pace faster between 52/36 11-32 vs. 50/34 11-28 for hilly terrain with many steep climbs?
