I have done this on so many thing on my bike over the years, like if you have a Potts mod you can zip tie the front cable out of the way and its not hitting your bars.

Hi there Cable Guise just remember if you're putting your spares kit together always have 2 spare gear cables at home and consider taking 1 cable with you when 20km away from home and yeah those clean looking cable caps if without them a tube of Liquid Nails you put a drop on the tip of the cut cable ultimately the best is leave 25-30cm of cable and loop it up like when you purchased the thing brand-new with the bit of glue on the tip, some people say "What about these spares? What about those spares?" The short answer is always answer a question with a question "Why not bring a spare bike? What if your head falls off?"

I have another YT channel, Ranging Rover, which is about the Terra Trike Rover recumbent Trike. They no longer make this model. It will become a classic Recumbent Trike, as there are many of them out there still. There are few videos out that tell us about doing specific maintenance on Trikes, let alone specific models. I too have park tools, because when I added my Bafang Mid drive to my Rover, I needed proper tools. I was a tool maker for the auto industry. I don't mind paying good money for good tools. Now I take these video's for regular bikes and apply the lessons to working on my Rover. My vids are not as professional, in fact, I they are more like a shade tree mechanic than anything as I tend to work on my trike while its sitting in my apartments small living room. But I am covering a lot of the same subjects as these videos do. And my viewers are thankful that someone is finally putting out useful vids for our specific need. Meaning us Recumbent trike riders. And I am thankful for Park Tool and Utah Trikes, both of whom put out great videos for us to learn from.

I've just invented a fantastic way of replacing an internal brake or shift cable. 1. Take the inner cable out, leaving the outer cover in situ. 2. Cut a 2" length of old inner cable and feed it into both the old and new outer cables, forming a single cable. 3. Crimp both outer cables to hold the inner cable in place. 4. Push, (Mainly) and pull the old and new cables through. 5. Once through cut off the damaged end of the new outer cable and feed the new inner cable through. Et Voila! I thank you, I thank you.

i couldn’t get a close enough camera shot; but I didn’t know how meticulous the cabling process requires; now i know when i get brake adjustments at whatever bike shops i’ve been to, the adjustment is solid for on avg two days..they are not putting in the precision you are. I have to learn to do it myself. thnx..
If you aren't grinding the ends of the housing flat & perpendicular, then you aren't doing it right. It's an entire additional step, but worth it. Cutting housing, especially wound brake housing ends up with an angled end. And worse: oftentimes the wire will fold over on itself, so you have to really pay attention to removing that AND grinding. When the ends aren't flat & perpendicular, that's when you get flex in the system, leading to squishy braking and questionable index shifting.

Why plastic ferrule caps? It is the easiest I can find to buy on Amazon, but my Google searches say to buy metal, as they have less squish and are stiffer so the tension you set on the derailleur stays steady.

No offense, but as opposed to wasting a bit of my time there at the end of the video (it was actually even longer since I found myself having to replay that last part a couple times to figure out what the hell I was watching seeings how the informative portion just ended abruptly) You could have taken a moment to go over using that crimping tool for those of us who haven't used one before, which I'm going to go out on a limb in assuming that refers to the majority of us watching this video to begin with yeah? I'm not trying to be a cynic, it's just that was the whole reason I'd clicked this vid to begin with & you failed to even cover it...
I used this method for pushing the end-cap (Jagwire) on the housing (Jagwire) and... there are still 5mm of gap inside. Really, make a test and see for yourself. Your method is VERY VERY WRONG.
A premium ferrule/cable/housing assembly, as mentioned by Simon (below) goes like this: Insert Cable into housing pulling out sufficient excess to work with. Place hard plastic seal ring seating sleeve onto cable. It fits around the cable and into the ferrule. So it is a very small part. Next, work the rubber dust & water seal ring (even smaller) onto cable. Insert prepared cable into ferrule. The compression of the rubber ring by the pressure of the housing keeps everything nice and dry.
OK but not remotely close to a guide to ferrule fitting, eg. did you know that there are ferrules that have in-built washers to exclude water & dust?
