for god's sake rename this to something like ink cartridge problems, as this sure as hell is not Epson cannot recognise a cartridge, it is no wonder you have so many dislikes when you have more dislikes than likes you know you have got it wrong,
This is the most expensive printer I've ever owned and also the worst piece of crap printer there ever was. When I first bought right out of the box the carage will start moving back and forth for no reason the door on the front will open and Carage will move back and forth like its going to print something it did this in the middle of the night I thought someone was going through drawers in the kitchen. The display panel works when it wants too atough it went out and stayed out for 3 years it recently turned on. I spent the money for a printer that could print Cd s and DVDs but again completely unreliable. So I bought new ink cartridges for it. but it won't print because it says it doesn't reconize the cartridge instead of a print job I have a new job for a boat anchorBut it's so light weight it'll probably suck at that tooprobably wouldn't reconize the water.gonna tie it to the back of my truck drive down the highway and see if it reconizes the pavement. Kudos to the useless people at epson who know even less about there printers than the idiots who built them. I agree with the previous comment. I could not get past printing the test pages. Bought replacement cartridges but still won't print. I just use it for a scanner now and print docs at Officeworks.

Do NOT buy Epson.
Do not purchase Epson unless you plan to always have a stock of all the cartridges at hand. Epson is updating all their firmware to block printing if any of the cartridges run out of ink. So, lets say you have a full black cartridge and want to print black and white, Epson will block your printing if any of the other color cartridges are empty or missing.
Do not buy an epson printer. I purchased a workforce630 one thinking it was excellent, They dont work if all the ink cartridges have ink, You cant print black only, All ink colours drain even if your only printing black, Almost everyday it says print cartridge not recognised, I have spent more time working on the printer itself more than anything.
Anyone else using Windows? Haaaaaaaaaa Fuck me, you must think we're idiots with these suggestions. You forgot to say to make sure the printer is plugged in & switched on.

It is so clear what Epson does, you did not spend a ridiculous amount of money on a few ml of ink so we tell you we cannot recognise the ink cartridge. A variable timer in the software disables printing unless you buy the original ink, then you will buy a new Epson printer because you do not want to throw away 100 £, $, Euros . and then you probably learned your lesson. DO NOT BUY CHEAP INK, ONLY EPSON INK! Fucking Bastards!
I reviewed this video and instead of doing everything beginning with step 1, I just unplugged the printer for 2 hours. Problem solved.
I bought original Y cartrige 702 and it worked. The 702xl was working and all of a sudden it didn't work anymore. 702 original worked. The bad thing is that if a cartridge doesn't work the printer is completely useless. I couldn't even scan to email or computer.

I would say ink tank printers are better. I have been using for 4 years and haven't refilled it much and nor did it dry up
Guys, liquid ink require certain minimal flow all the time because otherwise narrow places like printheads would dry up and get blocked. That's why printer insist on spending all the ink regardless of kind of image it was given.

Yeah, I love the cartridges that come with a new inkjet printer, they are purposefully smaller on the inside so they have reduced capacity. I'll only use laser printers myself, but you guessed mom only uses inkjet.

i remember growing up our mother had us play doctor with the printer and inject ink into the Cartridges. this work around obviously was before they could detect the intrusion.
These days you can get refill ink bottles for 5 dollars in amazon that injects color ink into any cartridge
