was expecting an explanation of why some have more cores than others rather than a wikipedia readout
Talks about high end cpus and gaming pcs**Plays Fortnite*
Made everything clear as fuck well done
6:14 no core is better than xeon x3430-x3450 at the same price, convince me I'm wrong
Haven't you heard about e5?
Consider this a a point I dont believe was touched on: used server hardware. A Xeon X5690, I may have the number wrong, can be had for around $100 and is breathing on the ryzen 5 3rd gen with some additional features. If you arent scared of aliexpress a motherboard, ram, cpu combo and be as little as $250. Is it the newest? No. Will it get you started with a pretty decent gaming pc? Yes. I built my brother a rig with one and has had zero issues and from what I can tell reviews reflect this too. You also didnt mention Streaming, which is why a lot of people I know are now looking into getting a gaming pc, which requires some extra core count or beefy core clocks (unless you have an nvenc rtx gpu).
Awesome !
My i5 only has 4 core though?
I totally agree with this video when talking about new processors but you can buy old Xeons on Amazon dirt cheap. I got a 3.5ghz quad core for $6.
intel xeon e5430 is a quad core 2.66 GHz
hi but is it worth it as an upgrade to buy intel xeon for me? i have intel pentium E5400 2.7Ghz dual core and i would like to upgrade to intel xeon e5430 i can t to xeon e5450 my mother board doesn t support it socket 775 lga the intel xeon i found is modded for my specific socket
Excellent.
Ayyo x5675 is probably the best bang for the buck processor ever created. 10$ on aliexpress for 6 cores 12T
Soo you are telling me i cant play games on a xeon which has simillar ghz of a core i7 on a same architecture like haswell? And they wont perform almost equally?
Amd Epyc : Hold my cores.
2:47a couple of years ago I upgraded my LGA 1156 to xeon x3440, it felt like common i7 860
You have i5 better than certain i7 so thats incorrect
very informative.Xeon processors are made to process the demand of multiple computer systems at once.Is made for servers with hundreds of Tb of memory.
This girl knows her shit
wheres my ali express xeon family at ?
older Xeon's are great for budget builds now.
You didn-t talked about specific references, only generalities, not even the actuality of the chinese leftovers flooding aliexpress....
Simple answer :-Forget Intel go for Ryzen.
FAILURE ,, the xeons are specifically designed to work in matched pairs ,, you are cutting the xeon in half and then comparing it. A duel xeon motherboard is only about a hundred dollars ,, compare THAT !!
Damn, that old intro cought me out
What exact Xeon chip he is talking about that costs $2.500 ?
I can't choose between xeon e5 2678 v4 vs i5 10400F. Does anybody have any ideas about this?
i7 4960X will be in our heartjk lol i cant pay for that, dual x5570's going strong with a bright future in gaming
Plz review on z800 for gaming plz
Cant watch , will smash screen.
x3480 vs i7 880?
Xeon is not design for gaming
Xeons are 20$ now a days
Woah that intro
2021 baby
Love how this guy says massive
Xeon x5675, 24 gb ram, 1050 ti
I'm almost 100% positive Linus is just an alter ego of Wierd Al Yankovic. I dare you to convince me otherwise
can a Intel XEON X5680 go with a ddr4 ram?
XEON!! XEON!! XEON!! XEON!!
To technically they use old processors and re naming it to i7
I just bought a renewed 2X Xeon 2690 workstation with 96 gb ram. I will have to upgrade the video card but for 600 bucks with the 1tb sad also, I think it is worth it.
i have this cpu
I have a Xeon E5 2.9ghz 2690 build with a X79 motherboard and 32GB of 1866 mghz DDR3 and I can run almost every game on Max Settings. Xeon 2011 Builds are great for budget gamers.
I learned (just now 2020) that used components is the way to go. I have lga2011v3 motherboard asrock x99 extreme4. Which is way better then the current day hot thing (msi 550 carbon gaming wifi) motherboardUsed Xeon is the way to go!!!
Underclock the 9700k, to match the Xeon core clock, and then redo the video....
4:11Xeon & 2070vs9700K & 2080Seems fair...
What would be the best Gpu to use with the xeon without bottle necking the Gpu?
The 1680v2 is a better choice IMO for the same board :)
why would you compare cpu's in such high resolutions! that is just stupid and unusable.
You can piece together a Dell Precision T5810 with an E5-2690 v3 and 64GB of quad channel ECC DDR4 for
I know this was done back in 2018 but I still don't understand why youtubers, in 2020, keep comparing the E5-26xx series against thenewer Intel CPUs, when:1. the 26xx series, as much as they can work by themselves, were designed to work best as pairs to share workloads (hence the "2" in 26xx) and2. their multipliers are locked, so you could only barely overclock their Blck (I've gotten them to all to comfortably/consistently run @ 103, from 100).The E5-16xx series CPUs (same LGA 2011 socket) are better for the comparison, as:1. they are designed to run as single GPUs (hence the "1" in 16xx) and2. their multipliers are unlocked. So comparing the E5-1660 (6 core) or the E5-1680 V2 (8 core) should be a more realistic comparison of power to cost for gaming.Heck, for my 3 WORKSTATION systems (all using AutoCAD/Revit/Lightroom with SLI K4200 Quadros) I presently run (in 2020) dual:E5-2620 v2 - 6c/12t, 15mb L3, @ 2.1GHz - 2.6GHz stepped turbo (OC'd to 2.678 GHz stable) - got it for $7 used on ebay) - good (but swapping for 2673's)E5-2637 v2 - 4c/8t, 15mb L3, @ 3.5GHz - 3.8GHz stepped turbo (OC'd to 3.914 GHz stable) - got it for $21 used on ebay) - betterE5-2673 V2 - 8c/16t, 25mb L3, @ 3.3GHz - 4.0GHz all core turbo (OC'd to 4.120 GHz stable) - got it for $120 used on ebay) - BESTThe dual E5-2673 V2 is king here.. even as a single processor tried in my Asus X79Deluxe, real world tested, for my application uses. And for my son's GAMING systems I ran in 2020 (all air cooled):E5-1650 v2 , 6c/12t, 12mb L3, @ 3.5GHz - 3.9GHz stepped turbo (OC'd to 4.2 GHz all core stable) - got it for $ 50 used on ebay) - goodE5-1660 v1, 6c/12t, 15mb L3, @ 3.3GHz - 3.9GHz stepped turbo (OC'd to 4.4 GHz all core stable) - got it for $ 50 used on ebay) - betterE5-1680 v2, 8c/16t, 25mb L3, @ 3.0GHz - 3.9GHz stepped turbo (OC'd to 4.6 GHz all core stable) - got it for $100 used on ebay) - BESTThe E5-1680 v2 is king here.. in his Asus X79Deluxe, 16GB 16000MHz ECC, Sapphire 5600XT (only official bios upgrade, no OC),EVGA 850watt Gold PSU, Acer Nitro 1080p.. real world gaming stats-Average FPS with comfortably playable settingsApex Legends - 45fps @ high settings,Ark Survival - 70fps @ high settings,Overwatch - 290fps @ med settings,Rainbow 6 Seige - 150fps @ high settings,Monster Hunter World - 100fps @ med settings,,Modern Warefare - 180fps @ med/high settingsValorant - 200fps @ low settingsIn summary:1. For "needed" dual socket applications - E5-2673 V2 ($120 x2, used on ebay)2. For single socket applications - E5-1680 v2 ($100 x1, used on ebay)(and still a single E5-1680 v2 may very well be a better option than the dual socket setup, depending on your uses)3.The Xeons run quad channel memory where the i7/i9 still run dual chanel.. and used DDR3 ECC is still a way cheaper RAM option5. The closest of the newer CPU performances, I have found to match these Xeons (that I have personally used) were the :i7-9700 8c/8t, 12mb L3, @ 3.0GHz - 4.7GHz (OC'd to 5.0 GHz all core stable, only when water cooled) @ $350 used on ebay - runs ok but rather the E5-1680 v2i9-9900 8c/16t, 16mb L3, @ 3.1GHz - 5.0GHz (OC'd to 5.1 GHz all core stable, only when water cooled) @ $400 used on ebay - good but not enough to justify the priceNotes:1. This is all based on real world uses of performance, times to execute works and system crashes and not synthetic benchmarking.2. I trust used server grade Xeons over used i7/i9's, as I have had drastically more failed used "I" series CPUs than Xeons over the years.
Good video dawg, but the cpu cooler is installed incorrectly, you are pushing and pulling air with the case cooler, so you may wanna check on changing air direction..
choose 1680v2Much better
just buy xeon cpus today because games are converting from single core performance to use all cores performance so xeons are the most valuable budget cpus for somewhat and good in the future and dont forgot the overclocking advantage
Highly recommend. Not as efficient as a 4th gen i7 in terms of gaming performance (maybe on par), but the Cache makes up for it.
A budget CPU vs an expensive CPU but same performance
Single stick of memory on a CPU that supports quad channel.
bro.. this video is stupid. just buy a dual cpu used workstation like a HP Z620 witch has 2 xeon e5 26xx and can be upgraded to e5 26xx v2 and throw the video card in there. Gaming pc done!
4:08 Okay I'm not trying to sound like a know-it-all, but you should be using the same cards for every test, you shouldn't use two different cards like a 2070 and a 2080, it affects accuracy.
Plan on making a pc that's work efficient but also play efficient. Working includes designs of all types and programming, while play includes gaming
I stil use a xeon x3440 for gamingAnd its asome
*laughs in core 2 duo*
Linus said not to game using a server CPU but he use 64 core epyc CPU for gaming.
Players with server-placed CPU: *exist*Ping: *wide walking into party*
I'm gaming on a workstation wth a xeon because it was the cheapest least-shitty thing that i could affordHow ironic
0:23 Your shirt can be misinterpreted
I play on a intel xeon cpu (yes that thing) and there isn't much of a key difference at all...except the fact that the software rendering is slightly debuffed but can be optimized if properly scripted.
Games like flight sim 2020 would use the extra cores. Might be time to update the video and do a test on used server gear...
So this means a server CPU is great for laptop video editing? Many cores and power efficient.
i can't disagree, but i can't agree. there are differences. huge ones. Like epyc actually has 8 memory channels. memory bandwidth is good, it never hurts to have more. disabling cores/threads may yield a cpu that is identical to a desktop one, expect ... you got more cache and more memory bandwidth. question is, is it worth it ? ironic, but epyc 7261 come quite close nowdays in price with the 3700x ryzen. there is still a difference in price, but if i have to buy now, i would hazard the epyc. both are 8 core 16 thread cpus. so scaling is of no issue. the difference ? weeeeeelll, 8 memory channel vs 2. so roughly 44 GB/ sec vs ehm.. 170 GB/sec. thats a big leap i say. so cache memory is allso interesting. the L3 cache is double on the epyc vs the ryzen. but we have a clock speed reduction. so not sure how well would it scale, but certainly has some strong points. I personally had no chanse to do a comparism in real testing, including overclocking. but it would certainly be realy interesting to see the outcome.
Well... It might not give you any difference when you switching from some gen 4 i5... But when you switch from amd's A10 series processor it surely does -w-
Anyone else notice the hair cut at the end?
A server cpu on a server machine is for Windows server 2003 in 2021Lolol
A xeon is cheaper than its i7 alternative.guess what one i bought to upgrade from a i3 4160
Why can they just make a chip that does the best of everything.
Loving my dirt-cheap dual-Xeon x5677 rig, Precision T5500. Hell, I don't even bother running the riser card with the second CPU anymore. An hour of GTAIV barely makes a single x5677 breathe hard, topping out around 55C with a passively cooled heatsink. The only thing that's gotten my CPU a little hot and bothered (85C) was re-encoding HD video, but it still performed nicely. Counting the R9 290x GPU, I have about $300 wrapped up in this old monstrosity that averages 50FPS in GTA4 and it hasn't let me down yet.
im wondering i7 880 and xeon x3480 basically the same specs but the xeon x3480 on ebay is 70 and i7 880 is 110, i think i should go with xeon
I know I'll probably get mocked, but I am more concerned with finding games with good gameplay than gaming at over 1080 @ 60 fps.
Wait what I saw Intel Xeon for $14 is it real
