Do Derby shoes, provide enough grip to work in indoor environment. Because, the shoe I bought kinda had smooth leather sole, so that was confusing. Can you help?

derby shoes are for causal occasions (originated as hunter's shoes). Therefore, sharp tip on derby looks just wrong to me. You can find mid angled derby shoes though. For oxford, only sharp angled is allowed

Solid video. I also agree that a couple of pairs of well made derby shoes are a necessary part of any male wardrobe, useful in so many casual, semi-formal and of course work situations. Part of the confusion may lie in the fact that many don't understand the difference between the Derby and a trad Oxford or Balmoral style shoe. Once again, great vid, mahalos!
I definitely agree with this. A brown pair and black pair will take you a long way. I personally like oxfords as well. Luckily here in Vegas we have a ton of designer outlets so you can get good deals and the latest fashion items there as they have to keep it up to date. And so many girls there you can ask for their opinions as long as you don't mind hearing what they think. It's probably saved me from purchasing impulse items.
i feel the monkstrap or loafer is the most versatile shoe in a mans wardrobe. they can be worn with suits, slacks, chinos, jeans, khakis and even shalwaar kamees! heck a loafer can even be used to dress up shorts. though a black wholecut oxford is the sexiest shoe out there for me
The Derby isn't and will never be the "most important and classiest shoe" in my opinion. That titles should go to the Oxford. Also at 2:02 and 2:07 you have pairs of Oxfords shown in the video and not Derby. Other then that great video. Derby are always indispensable for a man's wardrobe. I like how you present what makes a BAD Derby. There are a lot of people using those, spending the money they have on bad shoes.
The shoe which you're holding is a tad pointed in my opinion. It should be slightly angular. Search for Black Oxfords on mrporter.com. That's the optimal cut and shape. In India, I guess Ruosh has come up with some really classy British-style collection for office wear. Else, rest of the retailers and online stores have collections which Akbar and Birbal would have been proud to wear.
