Side blown bamboo flutes are wonderful. You can really be creative and create music on that pentatonic exotic scale. Wonderful video I have recently been playing around on my medium size Arabian flute from Erik the flute maker and I have enjoyed this Man's videos and tips. Well done!!

Hey, I am learning bansuri right now and as far as I know in raga music they tune all flutes in lydian from the 3rd hole (meaning major from all holes closed). The raag on that flute sounds like raag bhairav, it's very interesting how a raga works, you should learn some things about it! Very interesting to see flutes tuned to different scales and the possibilities it opens up. The amount of pitch bending the indian musicians do really twists with my mind haha

Thank you for your videos on different flutes. I started with Brent Haines flutes years ago, but after several years I moved on, primarily because I could not find Native American flutes in the major scales. Is there a reason why the Native American style cannot be made in major scale, or is it just "style"? A the bamboo flutes stable in dry climates? In the past I have found bamboo would have a tendency to crack. Thank you. Enjoy your music.

I would be very careful promoting this brand to avoid becoming an enabler of a fraudulent store. I do not know whether the flute maker is aware that there might be some undesirables within his business or whether he is party to this but after paying an invoice for a pack of flutes, they have ceased contact altogether. I will be looking into employing a bangladeshi lawyer to commence litigation. Stay away from ordering online is what I would recommend meanwhile, going in store to buy might be the only option with this brand.

Just a note for the unwary. You may wonder that the "C" bamboo flute is so much larger than a standard C tin whistle. This is because these south Asian bamboo flutes have their keys named differently to "western" tin whistles. A whistle/bamboo flute will play straightforwardly in two major keys. So, for example, a D tin whistle will play easily in G. With that it in mind, it would make as much sense to call a D tin whistle a G tin whistle, except "western" tin whistles aren't but these bamboo fipple flutes are. So ... The D sharp bamboo flute is the same key as a B flat tin whistle. The E bamboo flute is the same key as a B tin whistle. The C bamboo flute is the same key as a G tin whistle.

#FAQ on Flute Selection: I highly recommend a 'Scale - 4' flute for South Indian Carnatic Flute aspirants. It is only my personal opinion. Reasons being: The radius of the holes, Distance between the holes, the pressure required to get the sound are apt for absolute beginners.
