Great review. I've been on the fence here for the longest time. Considering the 11th Gen non-touch. Only thing putting me off is the 8gb@3733Mhz RAM (only opton available in the non-touch here).
I've been looking for reviews on the new 11th Gen Latitude 9420 2-in-1 to get a comparison with the 9310. Sadly, there are almost no reviews on that.
Any chance you could do a review? Or share some thoughts on the 9420? It's got some promising hardware.

So I’ve got a laptop asus tuf gaming which I accidentally hit the screen with a sharp object, I think I saw some cracks on the inside n then screen went blank. The system is absolutely fine,motherboard lights up,can turn on n off n I tried to connect the laptop to a different device to retrieve my data n absolutely fine. I brought to some shops,they tried to replace the screen multiple times,doesn’t work. Bought a cable that connects the system to the screen(don’t know the name) n still doesn’t work. Any smart ppl out there know how to solve?

Could I ask, does this laptop's display look good in low-light conditions in terms of colour and backlight bleed? I'm looking for a laptop to replace my struggling 10 year old pre-Retina MacBook Pro, which I use to watch a lot of videos at night time. I recently bought an Asus Vivobook 14 because of its specifications, but the display is awful compared to my MBP and I can't use the Vivobook at all in low-light conditions. Thanks in advance!

In my opinion, M1 Air is really the best deal you can get from a laptop. It's fast. The speakers and display are great. The battery life is the best. And no fan! You don't have to worry about the dust.
As a Dell owner, I gotta admit they're never good at speakers lol.
I hope Win 11 will make much difference for new-gen laptops.

Had the M1 Macbook Air base model for a few months. Exceptional battery life and screen and clearly totally silent. That being said, MacOS is just years behind Windows for ninja power users and business apps. Sure using the trackpad is amazing, but multitasking with a mouse is just crap on MacOS for me. The lesser battery life of a Windows laptop-which can be fixed by a Type C PD powerbank-is well worth it for the better OS IMO. The benchmarks for the M1 chip are great, but much like on the new iPad with the M1, that power is near useless for anyone who isn't tied to the media and audio apps on MacOS, which in reality is only a tiny portion of users. Now if you could run Windows on a Macbook I might switch back.
DO NOT BUY THE DELL XPS. Dell's quality control is atrocious and their customer support is garbage. I went through 5 of them and they were very rude and disrespectful. This is the same experience of many people on Reddit.

To clarify, this isnt the touch screen one is it? I bought one a few days ago, but Im already regretting ordering a touch screen 9310 and it hasnt even gotten here yet. Im worried about battery drain, especially since ive never really had an inclination towards touch screen laptops (its not 2-in-1), so now im thinking I paid an extra $100 for a battery draining feature I wont ever really use.

Moving backslash "\" to the left of letter Z and making the "Enter" button occupy the original place of backslash is a deal breaker and very frustrating for me. I should stick to my Dell XPS 8th gen.

This is one of the top links when looking for XPS 9310 reviews, and I wanted to warn potential buyers as I actually one this model. I've had a terrible experience with laptop and particularly with Dell support. These are issues you'll only notice after owning it for a week or two. The Linux version has a known (to Dell) battery drainage problem so that it runs out of battery after 5-6 hours regardless of whether you're using it or not. There are some fixes for it that require deep knowledge to fix or Dell can simply fix it with a setting change that they haven't done. Dell support's solution was for me to return/refund the laptop. I ordered the Win10 version of it instead which has even more severe driver problems--random freezing due to an outdated graphics driver that doesn't show when you update your laptop but you need to manually download from the Intel site. Dell tech support is unaware of this solution. A more serious problem is the wifi driver has a problem that's been outstanding since Nov 2020 and still present as of Mar 3, 2021 where it goes into an unrecoverable state that only a complete shutdown will fix (reboot won't work and the Wireless adapter appears as "not installed" in the BIOS hardware test). Dell has untrained support techs who will NOT do anything for you other than try to wear your patience down--they tried remotely uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, asked me multiple times to restore and reinstall the operating system, and even told me my laptop shipped without a wireless card. I'd advise any potential buyers to steer clear until the product is fixed and hope they never need tech support. I also think all the "customer" reviews on Dell.com are false as there is actually no way to write a review there. Look for customer problems on the Dell forums rather than professional reviews.

Will this display with OLED be better visible outside than TFT display? I expected that the OLED will be better, like phones are, but here I learned that the OLED only has 400 nits while TFT goes up to 500 nits.
in my country they are selling the older model, older chasis with intel 11 gen. Slightly cheaper than the 2020 model. Should i save my money and get the older chasis with 11 gen?

I wish our respected reviewer would also tell a bit about the general customer service of the brands of laptops that she reviews...non of these brands specifically Dell cares about individual customer experiences and the only thing that can make them a bit more care would be the professional reviewers' mentions of their products and services....unfortunately reviewers' mostly avoid this so that they wouldn't rub the companies' off in a wrong way and lose any sponsorships...
Just wanted to 1st point this out and 2nd share my experience here for those who are considering purchasing this or any Dell products...because like many I would also always check the MobileTechReview page before buying a new device:
bought this model spending all my annual budget: it started with a blue-screen... called dell customer service very calmly and politely...explained the situation....they started reading a lengthy disclaimer saying that the PC turns on but the fact that windows blue screen shows up it is a software problem and has nothing to do with them! and when I interrupted the operated ONCE...she threatened to hang up...they refused any services.
Conclusion...I have some Dell products here that my company bought...but this was my first personal experience with Dell and will be my last.
now I have a 3000 USD piece of garbage on my desk and I don't know what to do with it...I think a professional reviewer definitely has dealt with a lot of similar experiences and it would have saved me a lot of pain if someone credible would have warned me about such kind of situation.

I'm not the type that likes spreading negative information. However, this model has been a disaster and massively suffers from software stability issues, especially with the display drivers. I've ordered two models ( the i7 and the i5 11th Gen) and both had the same issues. If you want it badly to go for the previous 10th gen model which was much better. If you ignore my comment that's your call, just remember I warned you.

Just got this laptop with 11th gen Evo Core i5 and 8GB of RAM. Is this good for college? Need it to last 4 years. I do zoom calls, chrome, office 365 desktop apps and emails as well as YouTube and Netflix and Hulu watching

Thanks for the review but I was hoping that you would go more in depth on the thermal performance.
I have a XPS 13 9760 bought a couple of years ago and the biggest issue I have with it is the heat. I cannot keep it in my lap more than 15 minutes as it gets too hot. That is only with a few open browser tabs and few programming applications with CPU usage below 50%.

Thanks for the great review, could you tell me how do I know what nit level im at. I see many reviews stating 9.5 hours battery life at 150 nits, but other than the DisplayHDR app, I have no idea how to tell what 150 nits brightness would equate to add far as brightness level? I've googled the heck out of this but still can't seem to get a clear answer, so I thought I'd try ask you, thanks again for your great reviews :)
