How do you get sound on the monitor?
HDMI is licensed based and you have to pay to use it. The U2412m is the consumer grade version of the Professional Grade U2410, which has a better panel and includes an HDMI port.
is there an hdmi plug in ?

Don't need HDMI for computer use. The monitor does not have speakers so there is no advantage at all over DVI. I read complaints about the anti-glare coating - that is can look like smudges. Any current owners have a comment on that?
Are you using it with a Playstation? Your monitor only support Displayport cables and not HDMI. What did you do? I want to buy thins monitor and use it as my PS4 monitor.

The monitor looks very good! But in the 4 Years I used it, I noticed that its not that good for gaming, because it has a 8ms reaction time and "only" 60Hz. But if you dont play Games its good because of the graphic!
Amazing Monitor, used it for almost 2 years before i had to get an RMA on the first one when the screen was spoilt. I use mini-displayport for my connection to my main PC and i discovered that if you turn on the displayport 1.2 option in the monitor settings you can`t use your mini-displayport for some reason. Excellent monitor for 1080p gaming. Now i use this monitor as a vertical setup to read documents, novels and surf the net. Thanks for the review!

Are the pixels too much noticiable?
2:07 this is what I don't like in displays. This must be 2 directional ips for sides only and not for up and down direction.

Is the image quality for videos really that much better than that of the S series? S2419H in example, both are ips, both are flat. Both are 1080p. Only difference i manage to find is the colour gamut, does that really make a huge diference in image quality? considering between the S and U series but afraid if the image quality is about the same, since im only using it for movies

How do I hook this up to my Xbox
If you use your display portrait style that Dell sure was sweet. When I purchased my first Dell U2412M the Egg had something like 300 different 1920 x 1200 16:10 panels to pick from these days those 1920 x 1200 monitor are almost dead. Now with 2k- 4k monitor most people need to increse the text size and you start to loose the resolution.
Last week I bought 2 ASUS monitors to test which I liked best. VG248QE 24" 1920x1080 TN 144Mz ($275) & PA248Q 24" 1920x1200 IPS ($280). While the 144Mz was nice for gaming, the PA248Q won in almost every other category.night and day. I even liked the 1920x1200 ratio better than the 1080. I took the VG248QE back. Then yesterday I had a chance to put this Dell U2412M side by side with the PA248Q. Same panel. The ASUS is much more "solid" in the build quality. The picture on both are just about identical. Tonight I watched X-Men: Days of Future Past and it's much better than my old TN panel. You know how in a scene with a lot of black, like a night shot, you can see the black getting pixelated (word?) or blotchydoesn't happen on this IPS screen and the colors are so much better. Yeah I'll take this over the fast TN panels any day.

And i haven't used the drivers that came with the dvd from the package. I just plugged my monitor in with the DVI cable i had on my Samsung Syncmaster 226BW. I have Windows 7 so i dont think i need to use that old dvd driver.
Hard to write in english but on the corners, left to the right, this anti glare or hard coating makes shadows a little more on the grayish side. I do not know what that is called. Maybe i must ignore it or get used to it. And if you look at the screen from the side and not directly into it you can see that white color all over the screen.
I did not had any issue like that. Can you elaborate more?
I bought this yesterday and it find the hard coating anti glare/white thing kinda disturbing when playing video games and it's dark in the game. How to calibrate this or fix this?
