Deepcool Captain 240EX - Worth it in 2019?
and try flipping the radiator lol
You mounted the radiator wrong. It has to be above the pump.
Bruh love the channel but you have the radiator mounted wrong and if you don’t believe me no probs but check out gamer nexus’s video on it that’s why the coolings not great🤦‍♂️ Edit: pls like so people can understand not to mount rads like that
I know I’m late but your tubes shouldn’t touch your gpu bruv. That’ll hurt your temps and maybe even kill your cooler
its not bad,you just oriented it in a wrong way. First of all you put it in an air restricted case 2nd it may be your fan position 3rd it might be defective or something really is wrong. (you may have opened the panel but might as well put it in an open air bench.)
I gave your video a THUMBS DOWN!!! cause you speeded up the video part you putting it all together and we could not even see what socket type your motherboard has let alone how you installed the cooler system!!! Poorly done kid!!!
I have an i7 9700k overclocked to 5 ghz and I get temps in the 60s with this cooler
ive had a deepcool captain 120 for 3 years now on a ryzen 7 1700 with no issues. Temp never goes over 40 Celsius on anything in my system.
Wrong direction of fan on rad.
I was getting the same results as you on a 7700k@4.8 and in all fairness, I read through the comments, switched the fans around, changed thermal compound and now I'm looking at 30-35 temps when idle as opposed to 45-50 which was insane. During load, not higher than 76C so far after 2hrs of stress testing.
My experience with cases like the NZXT that have very small and shallow air intake vents on the front restrict air flow and volume too much for a radiator setup. They look clean and sleek, but not the best choice for cooling, especially when it comes to radiators. I had a CoolerMaster case similar to the NZXT setup with narrow front air intakes and when I decided to install an AIO I noticed I got very little flow through the 280mm radiator I installed. I since changed cases with a full mesh front panel and the fans push a noticeable amount of air through the radiator now. If you're looking to install a radiator of any size, especially on the front you're better off getting a cases that doesn't have small air vents, go with a full mesh front panel or at the very least one with larger air vents. You're already restricting a lot of air flow trying to push or pull air through the radiator fins, restricting the air flow even more with a cases like yours just compounds the issue.
You choking off the radiator by picking a bad air flow case isn't the cooler's fault lmao.
Nice review
Best if rad was top mounted but if placed in front you should have hoses at bottom not top.
Dude, turn the fans around and you’ll be doing way, way better
Very informative video! I have the 7700K as well in my build and they're very well known to have heating issues. I haven't had a issue with my processor or the DeepCool CPT 240 EX since switching from a EVGA 120 Cooler , which died on me 6 months after purchasing and RMA'd it. Luckily, they offered to replace it. But it sucks that you did not get what you've paid for as far as performance, delidding your i7 will help big time with temps.
Everyone I see has this set up with the fans/radiator on the front end of the case. I have mine on the top of my case, above the cpu and AIO block. Is it ok to have it set up that way, or is that making it harder for the water to be pumped properly?
in this video which BRAND MONITOR YOU HAVE?
What case is that?
OH MY FUCKING GOD, this is not a bad product, you have mounted the fans wrong way. The fans should pull cool air from outside and push it inside the case. The top and back fans should only exhaust (basically take the air from the liquid cooler radiator and push it out of the case). You are doing it all wrong, you are pulling hot air from within the case in the radiator, thus not cooling at all and your CPU temps being sooooo high, you cooling is almost useless if you use hot inside air to "cool" a radiator. If mounted correctly, this cooler model should keep the temps bellow 45C on idle and not even 80C under stress tests.
I have never had a problem with any of deepcools products, they offer really good value for money. Good video btw.
i have had a 240 ex since 2016 and still going strong
This is why the AIO's failed prematurely. Pump needs to be installed at the bottom "Stop Doing It Wrong: How to Kill Your CPU Cooler (AIO Mounting Orientation) https://youtu.be/BbGomv195sk"
Hello dum question but is this cooler compatable with ryzen 5 5600x
I’ve had mine since 6th gen intel was still new, been running perfectly this whole time.
can you make the RGB on the water block from pulsing and make it static?
Captain 240 EX been working good. However, resently leaked through the glass tube connection. Leaked on top of my RX 580. Deepcool valued RX 580 as depreciated card and priced it at $40. But did offfered to replace the cooler with other similar models.
This is my 3 year+ usage update on my DEEPCOOL CAPTAIN 240EX WHITE. I want to thank Greg for this video which was the primary reason for my purchase way back then. I was excited to do a "white build" with a new ryzen in the spring of 2017. I've got a 1700 oc'd to 3.9 on all cores, 16gb G.Skill Flare X, and an EVGA 1070ti FTW2 in a Corsair white 400c. AIO fans worked fine but I swapped all the fans out with white LED which turned the case into a lighthouse beacon that could be seen for miles.... so wapped out again for corsair purple LED fans with two SP fans on the AIO, looks good and still working perfectly. I use this comp for gaming and internet and ONLY shut it down for maybe 30 hours a week 9 months out of the year so it has at least tendy billion hours of use on the hardware in the last 3+ years. NO issues ever with the Captain. It looks and runs great. I have it top mounted for exhaust with three 120 up front and 1 in the back. The hottest it runs is 63 degrees when I play AOTS for hours. It doesn't have the new "anti-leak" feature, but that hasn't been an issue, and hope it never is. This winter I fully intend to do a white build with a 5900x wtith a DEEPCOOL 360 AIO cooling the CPU. I hope it works as well and has the longevity that this 240EX has had. Thanks again Greg. Love your videos.
does anyone know what the temps would be if I tried this aio with a Ryzen 5 3600
Thanks for the good review! Building a white PC gives you limited options especially when you don’t want to spend $300 for 360mm. And the first thing you think of when you think Deepcool AIO is will it leak? Will it be noisy and will it cool well?
This man is killing PC components !!!! What does he have in his PC case ??? A space shuttle from Star Trek or second giant computer station like it is in Brussels ( Belgium ) or Predator's work station or what ?????? 🤮🤮🤮
Coming back to say that after 3 years my Deepcool Captain 240EX is still holding up strong. :) Purchased for the look and happy for the quality.
"im not FAN of Those FANs"
I have the same cooler but mine has 2 wires coming from pump for rgb
don't recommend this cooler that has those side tubes they always pop out bad design destroyed few of my pcs that tube always popes out due to pressure there is nothing holding the tube its just pushed in there and easy to pop out so if you don't want destroyed gpu or motherboard dont get this cooler I'd stay away from deep cool when it comes to aio
Recently purchased a 240 RGBv2 for a new Ryzen 5 3600 build. Been running flawlessly (and silently) for a few weeks now, and looks great (I do purple lighting in a white case).
can someone tell me if the fans light up on the liquid cooling or is it just the cpu in the middle
deepcool and leaks go together + if something bad happen the company is based in china soo good luck
My captain 240EX died (water pump) at 1 year and 8 months of usage, deepcool warranty never answers and my cpu gets 100°C and almost died because of it.
are they still good in 2020 ???
How's the unit running, Jojo? I've read some horror stories about one of the fittings popping off after a while because of the pressure. Also, any idea if DeepCool will supply with AM4 mounts for Ryzen?
can i use it for the i9 9900k lga 1151??
I have this unit cooling an amd 1800x and have had no problems with it for 3 years now.
Hate you fkyou L
Is this working well
ну привіт
THe tubing should go downward out from the pump or youll hear it pushing air, lucky you didnt burn out the pump.
Huh i had no idea watercoolers came with the water inside already.
Really nice video where did you get the red & white wires at looks good in your case..Richard
Ты же кулеры не той стороной прикрутил. Стрелка же показывает в какую сторону дует воздух. Получается воздух не обдувает радиаторную решетку, а наоборот, от радиатора дует внутрь корпуса..
Waiting for mine to arrive lol, only difference being mine is going on the top of my CM storm Stryker case instead of the front :p
I bought it for the free tool.
120,000 hours is about 13.6 years of fully on use
Now I know everything thanks!
they should tell people about the start up noise so people don't freak lol, thx 4 the info
ラジエターフィンが最初から歪んでる
If you buy the UPDATED version of the 240ex, it comes with an am4 mounting bracket. I've heard the stories too, BUT, they have a 5 year warranty on the cooler so if it leaks they will cover you the price of the component when you bought it. So if you bought like an i7 or an i9 at launch, you get payed that price. Anyhow, good review. Probably going to buy one for my H500 and r5 2600
Its compatible with ryzen ?
Very nice looking cooler. Really want to get it but concerned about the stories. My Antec AIO has been running constantly for 6 straight years. I'm not sure the Captain can hold up to that sort of usage... It does have a 5 year warranty though so I still may get it.
Hi, 2 years later are you still using the cooler? If not how long did it last, I'm also considering buying one, and I've read some concerting things about the cooler.
does it support RGB lightning or white only?
Deep cool Leaking issue I bough the captain 120ex RGB exactly after 3 years of regular use, it leaked my system but fortunately for me no damage to my components, Deepcool replace my defective unit with this one, but to be honest no more DEEPCOOL AIO at this moment, instead I ordered the artic sports duo
what is the difference beetweetn the 240EX and the 240X?
Will the aio CPU cooler can handle the heat of an overclocked Ryzen 5 3600 processor?
What fan config are you using for the cooler? If it's still holding up of course... And would love to know how long the pipes are for my case
why cant i find a single effing review on the newer captain 240x ????
I bought this back in 2017 for a new build. Two days after installing it blew up on me and leaked all over my system. Deepcool did the right thing and replaced what was damaged.
the components of my pc are a ryzen 2600x, 16gb of ram, radeon 580 8gb video card, asus tuf gaming plus b-450 motherboard and an alpha prime rgb cabinet, with summer it is already reaching very high temperatures and I am looking for a cooler cpu, what do you recommend?
Your build is not in the description :(
I'm highkey jealous of your entire setup
I have had one of these units keeping an 1800x cool for a year and a half now and have not had a problem. Keeps the cpu @ 28c at idle and may go up to 40c when using multiple recording software on 2 monitors. The old guy from Canada says keep up the good videos.
Some people say that it is leaked
You can tell me the name of your case?
I read a lot of issues with this AIO tho, specifically leaking. Is that not a thing anymore? I also read that they made new models last year so if I get one now the chance of it leaking will be even lower. Can you confirm this?
I don't understand why the white model isn't rgb
"insert generic you deserve more subs comment" you're just picking up steam, and growing fast, it's not that "you should have more subs", you will! 😋
I just ordered this AIO to replace my cooler master ML120R RGB ( selling to a friend) and should get it this week sometime, I also bought it because very few white versions exist, and my cooler master storm Stryker case fits a max 240mm radiator up top so decided on this after hours of comparing, also the tubing looks plenty long to reach from top of case to my 2700x ;p it's seriously like 5 inches apart
Your videos are really entertaining idk why how your channel only have 6 comment :/
Do you have a link for that wallpaper?
im going to buy the 360 EX version bc it looks just sick and its actually good nice and chilled video!
