Is the scraping sound when sliding up and down the neck just a part of playing acoustic guitars? I tried to eliminate it, but it's hard to do. I tried to lift my fingers off the string before sliding, but without much success. holding down the string while sliding works better, but it's hard to eliminate that sound. Thoughts?
I just picked up a used 114e, still has old strings on it, and I've been considering what to replace them with, so this is very timely. Question: are you using any effects or EQ in this recording? Your first sequence playing with the nanoweb strings has such pretty resonance and sustain, I'm wondering if you have some reverb on it. Thanks!

Wow, the time it must have taken you just to make this video. You da man Chris. I use Elixir nanoweb 80/20 HD lights because I do a lot of fingerpicking. I did an A/B test between lights strings and HD lights (where the top 3 stings E,B,G are essentially medium gauge strings), and recorded it. The difference is very noticeable and the high strings are much more pronounced when fingerpicking with the HD lights which I like.

Thomastik strings are better than all of those American garbage strings. You guys are all about loudness and brightness maximizing, without giving any attention to real quality and little details - such as balance, sustain, accuracy and playability. Super high tension strings makes your guitar more loud and bright sounded, but kills your dynamic range because you can't even band the string properly and express sensitive nuances. also it makes your hands tired much faster.
I've decided to go with the Dadario EJ11 strings, one thatyou showed in this video. They sound decent, seem to have good longevity, and for $4.50 a set, case closed. I like to play slide on my inexpensive Hohner HW03 acoustic. I have yet break a string. I ried some Ernie Ball Earthwood strtings, and didn't care for them. They also lost some playability and sound rather quickly. I stick with EJ11s.
Elixir for me. Been using it (nanoweb phosphor bronze 12/53) for my Taylor and my other guitars.
Taylor guitars almost always have great sound regardless of the model.
