For those that are familiar with electrical engineering & speaker circuitry design, I have a question for you: Why does there need to be a manual gains switch under the unit? The power source is always going to be the same 5V, isn't it? It's just a matter of how many amps can be pulled from the adapter. So what does this switch actually do? Thank you! I did just hook up my Pebble V2; they sound wonderful. That said, I haven't kept up with expensive audio equipment in over 15yrs. The last expensive set I had, I sold them when moving from Europe back to USA. So my ears are not "calibrated" to >$10K speakers anymore... :-P

I just bought a new desktop, and needed speakers so I bought these. These arrived before my Desktop so I decided to try them out on my Laptop. And I was having some issues at first as the right speaker had a ton of static, I even tried them out on my phone (plugged the USB into my PS4 Pro) and it was the same thing. Then when I decided to switch BACK over to my Laptop, I decided to just turn the damn things up all the way playing a music video on YT and it seemed to fix static oddly enough. However, I've been hearing audio through cheap laptop speakers for so long (I've had this laptop for 7 years!) that these almost don't sound right to me. They sound slightly muffled and I can't seem to get the volume to sound just right. Maybe it's something I'll adjust to, but other than how loud they get...I'm not overly impressed. They definitely feel like $20 speakers.

if you plug these into a usb fastcharger you will get much better sound depending on the quality of the usb wall adapter.
