i don't know if you still need this advice, but for most consumer memories out there, the general golden rule is that the higher the DDR number, the better it is - so DDR2 is faster than DDR, and DDR3 is faster than DDR2, etc. as for ram timings, basically, you want the number the lower the better - so a DDR3 CL9-9-9-10 ram is theoretically faster than a DDR3 CL11-11-11-11 ram. however, ram timings are so small nowadays they generally don't have any effect on you unless you're benchmarking.
