I use up 64 gb of this stuff on my x79 system. Yes it is possible If you do Extreme 3d rendering on maya or 3d studio max or video editintg or huge photoshop work with tons of stuff open.

I have a large after air cooler and been using low profile rams. Now I have these dominator platinum 2400mhz DDR3, if I remove the top bar then the heat sink above that you slided but with side spreaders intact, will it work on default xmp profile ?

dominator platinum goes up too 3000 mhz for the best but its only 8g and you pay alot for those babies, if you are a gamer the 2133mhz version would be far better and more stable, it has a lower latency, and you can really see the performance upgrade IMO, agree with the comment about not needing anything higher than 2133mhz unless you plan to overclock PROPERLY and know what your doing.
