I will disagree about pen placement. It's far harder to dislodge and homes is way better than edge mounted Ideally the pen would hide inside a slot but if it has to be on the outside this is a better solution.

My laptop died, which was also a Lenovo Yoga . It was a piece of shit with a messed up known battery problem. My Tablet has totally taken it's place. It's android system is far more stable than windows. The gestures are a little awkward until you get used to them, and the only awful issue is they can't print to HP laser printers. I bought an aftermarket driver which fixed the problem flawlessly for $15. Only complaint is I wish it had a second USB-c because I like to add a better microphone and that means running on battery. I haven't used it yet but peripherals drain batteries fast. MS office works fine on it and theres tons of great apps and cheap because it's on google play. The big must have is the magnetic keyboard! I had 3 MS Surface keyboards and not one worked right, they are pieces of shit. Because of that I will never buy a Surface again. This keyboard works flawlessly, and it really is a little fully funcional laptop. I tried a bluetooth mouse from lenovo but there was too much lag. I recently saw the P11 Pro, cover and pen for $299 bundle. I paid double that and am happy with it still.
The 5G version of this tab is still nowhere to be found despite the advertising

I disagree that Google will be the one pushing for better Android integration into tablets. That would be Samsung. Samsung has been the only real company that has made Android compatible for tablets and tablets as a laptop replacement especially with Samsung DEX. You should take note of MKBHDs podcast talking about Samsungs influence and control over Google, Android, and the Android experience. Samsung is the one pushing Androids future, not Google. Samsung is the default Android phone, owns 50% of Android, and it a majority stakeholder in Google.Samsung having better updates vs Googles own phones, the Samsung features that appear earlier than Google phones, and Samsung-only Google features are evidence of this.

Got it today. Facing issues with the Precision Pen 3. Somehow managed to update to latest version. Still not working. The Pen keeps getting disconnected and I am having to repeatedly keep it at the back

Why no audio jack? Ok, how many people used the USB-C connector for audio and end up the USB-C connector break? This connector is very precise with tight tolerances and prolonged use just destroys it. Hello! One could mitigate this by supplying two USB-C. on every device and this is happening already on larger laptops. So hop to it, Lenovo and give us an audio jack because I for one like my brain enough not to expose it to wireless.

Thanks for this.. I'm missing however the measurements of the screen brightness. When using tablet outdoors this is the limiting factor and can be make or break. Also, because you set the screen brightness to maximum, the battery life tests are not objective. You should measure those at at the same brightness..

This Lenovo tablet competes more with the Tab S7+ than with the Tab S8+, and even against the S7+ it doesn't really measure up.The Galaxy has better software, better software tracking over time, a much better pen and such...The only thing a little better with the Lenovo is perhaps its keyboard which is cheaper and a little better than the Tab S.
This should be a $400 tablet bundled with the keypad and maybe Pen....

Good, interesting review. I would have thought that the more direct competitor would be the slightly older tab s7+. This has the same software as the s8, a similar chipset to the Lenovo and likely a similar update horizon. This can also now be bought at a discounted price.
Lenovo is the only Android OEM which produces great Android tablet other than Samsung.
You talk about how Apple has better performance, but to do what? It's so artificially limited with the software that it's performance you can't take advantage of. Who cares what the geek bench score is? If you have a 20/20 iPad Pro and you can even resize windows on an external monitor?

Laptop screen extension feature is dope and I can use this for Teams calls at home. Oh and love the gaming performance. I'm going to be playing Power Rangers Battle For The Grid with my Kindergartener on this and I'm sure both of us will love it.
