This is wrong, chemistry is more helpful than physics in studying chemistry, why? Because most of the higher chemical engineering subjects employ the law of equilibrium state in steady steady state flow in the law of conservation of matter/ energy/mass (stoichiometry) it is not Physics, this Chemistry is the backbone in higher chemical engineering subjects same as Physics but more on Chemistry to be used in Chemical Kinetics, Unit Processes and Unit Operations!....Chemical Reactions which are the main focus in Chemistry are still applied in higher chemical engineering subjects not really physics all the time, we know that Physics is a study of matter and energy but remember energy and matter (solid, liquid and gas) are also discussed in Chemistry as a basic foundation, now if Physics is more in Chemical Engineering than Chemistry then thus it is supposedly refer as "Physical Engineering" instead of "Chemical Engineering"...Chemical means more on Chemistry not on Physics as the name suggests! ..I am a Registered/Licensed Chemical Engineer from Philippines..
