Hey Rob.. so I gotta ask; I just passed my core exam for the CCNP sec. Testing for the 300-715 this coming Wednesday. What would be your strategy for getting your CCIE? Take every test, pass it and the go for the 8hr lab?

Can't wait to understand route/switch at this level. I definitely agree about trying to grasp topics slowly. I hope to be a CCIE one day as well but will probably take close to a decade before even making an attempt. I'm working at mastering topics at the CCNA/CCNP level at the moment. hahah I feel ya man I used to do SP now im doing Stealthwatch, duo, ise, Fortinet Fortiweb, FortiGate, Palo Alto, AMP4E, and Umbrella thinking to do CCNP ISE then CCIE sec eventually
I feel ya Rob I'm the same I tend to jump from one technology to another as and when i see something I think is cool. I passed the Firepower concentration early last year and I need to sit down and crack the SCOR exam.
The candy store and "hey i wanna try that" analogy hit me a little. On one hand, I know my goals (NP Sec and Cloud Security) so I should probably focus on those. On the other hand, lots of opportunities (thanks Microsoft, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc) which are either partly related or integral to my end goal. How would you deal with that?

For those of you who are working on renewals for the CCNP, you can take an Implementing Secure Solutions with Virtual Private Networks Continiuos Education course ($500) and you will get 40 Credits. To renew CCNP you need a total of 80 CEs, so taking a class and then passing an exam will award you a total of 80CEs which satisfies the renewal. Hey thank you Rob Riker; the tip of telling me to debug the routers and ASAs help me out. Without me labbing up my VPNs and debugging the tunnels being setup and purposely breaking different parts of the configurations help me out I probably wouldn't of passed without your tips. I passed but I definitely need to go back over AnyConnect and Clientless VPN i need more lab time and white page reading and experience with those technologies. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation.
