The disadvantage with these cameras is you can't turn the autofocus OFF once you're satisfied it's clear enough. They could bring out a camera with manual focus minus the zoom.
I've had one of these for several years and I love it except for 1 major problem. As time goes on, focusing on infinity becomes more problematic. Many times these shots are fuzzy and if not caught before putting the camera away, the shots are wasted. Sometimes it's not possible to get a good focused shot at all. Sometimes rebooting the camera works for this problem, sometimes not. Manual focus is clumsy and often doesn't give a better result.

June 2021..... I've read a couple places that the Wifi no longer works due to some app or software issues and that Canon won't update the firmware for a camera this old? Do you know if this is true?

Finally a review of this camera. I was going back and forth over this canon sx700 the sony hx50v or the panasonic lumix zs30. So I actually purchased the zs30 a week before this canon came out. At first I liked the zs30 but after really looking at the image quality I wasn't very pleased. Plus the wifi and nfc were a hassel. It feels a bitch cheap as well. So when this canon finally released I went to my local store and picked it up to test the 2 side by side. I will just simply give my opinion and day that right off the back just holding the canon feels so much better in quality and design. It feels a lot like the canon sx280 just a tad bit heavier. First thing I did with the canon was test it in low light , and I must say that it produces a lot better photos in low light than the zs30. To make things short the canon out performs the zs30 imo and I was much much happier with the canon. The zoom is very nice and in good light it stays sharp. So I am returning the zs30 and keeping my sx700. As for the sony hx50v it produced nice pictures but the camera itself feels cheap. And it's true that the lcd screen is horrible outdoors in sun light. But performance the sony hx50v does well. But I'll stick with my canon sx700. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.
