The kit lens has no crop factor. The lens is made for crop sensor cameras.

I'm using a Cotton Carrier harness now so I started using the lens lock. Is it safe to unlock it by using the zoom? To be safe I am not doing that and am starting to search for a definitive answer. On a crop sensor you get 18-135mm... I think you mis-spoke.
Don't shoot in manual mode. Yeah, it makes you "feel" like you're shooting like a pro (you're not, many if not most pros shoot in AP mode) but it slows you down and adds opportunities for unforced errors. Shoot in Aperture Priority mode and use Auto ISO. Do that and the variable F-Stops really won't matter.

I got this lens with my 7DII as it was cheaper than without it. I meant to sell it as soon as I got it bit I never get round to selling any kit, I'm much better at buying than selling. I think even with photography, if a lens is variable aperture I keep it on the lower aperture for consistency. Having said that I only have 2 for digital bodies the other being my Sigma S 150-600 f5-6.3 which I tend to keep around f8. I still have my 28-80 f? I got with my EOS 5, now that is a kit lens in the true meaning of the word. Built totally out of cheap plastic and if I remember right it actually creaks when you zoom, the zoom and Focus rings definitely wobble. I should use the 18-135 more as a closer zoom on my 7DII as it equates to roughly the useful size of 29-216. I could then leave my 5DII with the 70-200 f4 IS at home when I’m shooting birds.

You see sorry lenses a lot for just about everything on crop sensor cameras. Camera manufacturers screwed people with crop sensors
