I just bought this lens for 80 euros. I use it for wildlife fotography with a tripod. No problems so far. Except for the noise. It's pretty loud. But it's a cheap way to get some distance between you and your "target".

The lens is actually really good on full frame. But on apsc sensors, it's basically unusable at anything over 150mm. I mean it's so soft, you can't make out any detail.
got this lens as "free" as it came with my 1300D 3 years ago. Now i have to say, it's not the best lens and it's give HUGE chromatic aberrations at 200+mm however, it's fairly good under that, i found that the sweet spot is around 135mm. great lens to start with if you only need an occasional telephoto on bright days

I'm a beginner with a Canon Rebel t3. It came with two lenses, but I don't know how to use them (of course). 1. the 18-55 mm only goes to f3.5 not lower. Do I need a different lens to go lower like f2-f1.4? 2. When I attach the 75 -300 mm lens and try to adjust the f-stops, it won't do it, it shows "f00" Can anyone please help with this. Thanks!

just bought this lense on ebay for 60$ to start astrophotography on a budget. on there are actually people who have taken respectable photos of nebula with this lense. its not a good lense but on a budget it can get you into a hobbie.
i don't get why people are complaining that it's a cheap lens, therefore is fine for a budget photographer. no it's not. he reviewed it based on its performance, not its value. there are far better, cheaper options that offer better optics and actually have stabilization, such as the 55-250mm. just because its cheap, doesn't justify the awful quality. look at the nifty fifty - it's the cheapest lens on the canon store, but has incredible image quality, although it is lacking in stabilization, though that is made up for with its fast aperture and intended use-case. just because you bought this lens and don't like that he said mean things about it, doesn't mean that the review is wrong, or bad. it means you don't want to admit to yourself that you wasted your money.
My 55-250 far superior to this 75-300 which I regret buying. The far end focus accuracy is not even close to my other zoom. I suspect Sigma would be an improvement, I know Tamron has a better zoom since I own one but the contacts stopped communicating . I will watch more often and save myself some money. Thanks

Ive had this lens for awhile and it never gave me any problems. If youre a pro then of course buy something better but for an amateur this is perfect. Daytime shots are pretty good and sharp but night shots can get a little fuzzy since it doesnt have IS thats pretty much my only complaint about it.
LOL however here’s something odd I have discovered with this lens. I have used it on my 6d and results quite poor - washed out images however I put it in my M50 with a viltrox M2 speedbooster and it’s a very different story. Sharp images, very little CA and I get f 2.8 at 75mm. Guessing the dual pixel AF and speedbooster help but I get VERY good images now with this setup. Just thought I’d mention.
Please see Chris's later review of this lens in which he points out that this one is rather harsh and shows just how good this lens really is.

I was consider buy the 40-150 mm Pro, but I have this , honestly, is a great lens i think can have results very near that pro series and if just eventually need for sometimes telephoto shots, this are the best choice , Also make good portraits, with the IBIS from OMD 5 mark I, make a nice job in stabilization, just some pro lens come with Stabilizatiin, all Olympus Camera come with IBIS
Have the older version with the Apature ring for a film camera it works fine on my Pentax K50 do to IBIS at 300mm the pictures are very useable I guess I got lucky because when I bought the lens Pentax did not have IBIS at the time on the * istDL and yes I still have the 6.1 megapixel camera

This lens was $100 and the 55-250 cheapest I see is $230 before tax and shipping (Canada) that's why I bought it
I suppose this lens is good for people who are doing photography as a hobby, for a professional I would probably say they would want a much more powerful lens with image stabilization but lenses are expensive and for £80 on UK Amazon its not a bad price, personally I thought the images were good but it really depends on what you expect as a photographer yourself. All photographers have different opinions and standards when it comes to their work.
I bought this lens used for EUR 40 (about £30) and I made some great nature photo's with it on my EOS 50D. You are right, it is certainly not one of the best, but for an amateur like me a great lens to start with and do a bit of experimenting. For those who go into nature occasionally and want to make some nice close ups of animals that would otherwise be impossible I think this is a good lens. If you want top quality images, yes you will have to buy a (much) more expensive one.
I own and use this lens for portraits and model photography in the past and it’s actually quite “good”. I’m a bit surprised you gave it such a horrible review lol. I would recommend for anyone learning or even a skilled photographer. It’s an inexpensive handy backup lens.
