hey i'm on a budget but i love good quality lens i was at a wedding and the photographer was taking wonderful pictures with this lens. i told him i want a camera lens that takes great pictures and he said your best bet is to buy this camera lens and he told me to buy the 10-18mm lense as well. so let me asked you can i take any picture i want with the 135mm lens or this lens is only for taking portraits. i love taking pictures of everything i want to just have 2 lens there's no need to have 3 and 4 lens i want one camera lens that can do everything or if i need two lens then i will do that but i want my pictures to be nice and sharp

Now there are an Emperor, the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM ! The best of the best ! The Canon EF 135mm L are very sharp, with crisp colors and a good contrast, I had that lens, but now I have got the Sony 135 1.8 GM which is much better in any way ! I only wish that Sony will make 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for this lens !

Hi, can I use this lens with my canon 80D?

My camera body is an 80D. I mainly shot portraits so this Lens is a perfect match for my style. With that being said, do you think the lens will work well on my 80D and the autofocus feature will work as well as with the 5D?

Hi, I just got this Lens used from kehphoto and I have to say, I don’t know if my expectations were too high or if there’s something wrong with it. I feel like all my pictures are a little off. I’ve tried using AF servo and high shutter speeds(1000th+) and still I feel the pictures look good but not great. My canon 35mm f1.8 macro RF produces pictures with similar quality. Could anyone help me with this? I have a couple of test shots and need a photographer’s opinion. Ty~

Chris, I know that this lens is suitable for good portrait work. However when compared to the 100mm f/2.8 macro, in your opinion which one produces better image quality and sharpness?

Any chance the 135mm f2 + 1.4x extender on APS-C would keep pace with this IQ?
With this lens on a 5DMK2 taking portrait with strong backlighting I got a lot of chromatic abberation on hairs. Is that to be expected or do I have a bad copy?
And now can be used on Fujifilm cameras with adapter auto focus Fringer Pro and Fringer Pro II !
Do you think that sigma 105 or 135 is sharper or even better choices than this?

My other video about 135mm f/2 lenses: , yes, the 135mm is technically easier to construct, therefore, these lenses are usually outstanding optically. This applies to the 50mm too.

I find that the 135mm f2 gives out washed out photos.

Great images. Thanks for sharing your 135mm experience. Way back when I started out in photography, the 135mm was my goto lens. I forgot how great the perspective and bokeh is relative to that length. Time to revisit.
doest the MF ring move the focus when you are in AF mode? I just wonder if you happen to accidentaly move the ring and lose focus while taking pictures in AF mode. Great video, thanks
Thank you for this upload, it is such a beautiful lens! Love the portraits and sharpness on the eyes. I recently also found a Canon chat very useful for some trouble shooting, for those that might need it here is the link: I am really tempted to test one. it looks so beautiful especially for the full body shoots. I am looking at this one , many time. Yet to take a decision coz I have the 85mm 1.2L II. Not sure if it is worth it to have both.
I think from a bang for the buck perspective the Samyang 135mm F/2 is a superb performer , if you don't mind manual focus . The Samyang outperforms the Canon in every area apart from bokeh . For more technical shooting { landscapes, architecture , product, astro } the Canon lags well behind . review was awesome. Answered all of my questions about this lens.
One of my favourite lenses in my kit that I have owned for many years which shall only ever be replaced when an RF version arrives!
