I've just bought this lens for my aps-c canon, it is a great lens, but it becomes a 160mm lens when you use it with your aps-c, so think wisely before buying it.
Why is an APS-C sensor "a more punishing sensor" than a full frame sensor? is that intrinsic to crop sensors generally, or something to do with the 70D compared to the 6D?

Any reason to get the 100mm f2.8 L over this one?
It's now 2020 and I just shot some images today with the Canon 100mm f2 on the A7rii. The results were outstanding. The bokeh is wonderful and the edge to edge sharpness at f8 is perfect. I've tested this against the 100mm 2.8 IS macro and the f2 has better edge sharpness and less CA. Very impressive.
I once saw a photographer saying that focal distance divided by the aperture is the background blur value of a lens. So the 85mm divided by 1.8 would have 47,7 and the 100mm divided by 2.0 would have 50 as this value, giving the 100mm less than 5% more background blur. I don't know if those numbers are accurate, but they certainly seem to work in general.
My prefered lens. Always excellent. It's a 110mm.

why turn on the camera correction on lens. some camera had no that function.
Here's my review on the YN100mm F2 since so many people ask. It takes good 'Apparent pictures' once you zoom in, there are firngings and you've always missed focus. The focus hunts like crazy. Almost never gets nailed. I got mine for $100 and played around it with events. For professional events I will need to get this Canon lens because I love the results. Just hate the slow and hunting focus and the image sharpness

Mattias, how are you? i'm thinking of buying a 100mmf2, i use mostly prime lenses to work and from the focal length it looks like a great option (bangs for the bucks) my doubt is: Can i mount a canon teleconverter on it? I work a lot with shows, theaters. I was robbed last year and given the pandemic scenario, to save some money, recently I bought a cheap 6D with 9k clicks, brand new rs, very good deal. And searching for some fast tele prime for a good deal.

I Have the EOSR, I have a tamron 85 1.8 and want shallower DOF. I'm a bokeh lover lol. I just bought this 100MM F2 for 339.00 on Amazon with the lens hood. I'm hoping it's better. and I will send back the Tamron. I just with this had IS, but it's ok since it does not stop motion.
So, I still don’t get why I should get the 100mm f/2 over the 85mm f/1.8 or the 100mm f/2.8 L which is a beast. Tempting!

Hi Mattias! Thanks! I can highly recommend this lens, not only for taking pictures of Gunpowder. It doesn‘t cost a fortune. You won’t be disappointed with the Canon EF 2.0/35mm USM IS either, if you like that focal length. I use the 100mm often with the 35mm. Best wishes, Ralf

I have had this lens for many years and it is one of my favourites. I often use it rather than my L lenses. It is razor sharp, fast to focus, excellent depth of field with lovely bokeh. Such a good lens.
Why is it that I just love watching your videos? I don't even have use for this lens, but I still excitedly downloaded and watched it anyway.

I got the 100mm F2 and ive been shooting with it lately. It really suffers from color fringing and flares. (I use it on a 5D2, it does not have auto color fringe correction like the new models)
Vincent, Thank you for your great reviews. Always informative. I have a question. I currently shoot using a Canon 7D. I have been debating the 100mm vs the 135mm for indoor sports - particularly swimming. But it would be nice to be able to use the lens shooting some outdoor sports such as my kids soccer. Fortunately, they are still young so I can still get up pretty close on the sidelines. With the crop factor, which option do think would be best for both uses? Would the 100mm give me enough reach? Would the 135mm be a better choice - or would it be too long for indoor on a crop? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I would prefer to use a prime over a zoom. Thanks

how will u see us in the next video? is this a two-way-channel? i dont have a webcam or lidar . do u "see" me via "audio corrected/calculated" imaging?
hey i'm on a budget but i love good quality lens i was at a wedding and the photographer was taking wonderful pictures with this lens. i told him i want a camera lens that takes great pictures and he said your best bet is to buy this camera lens and he told me to buy the 10-18mm lense as well. so let me asked you can i take any picture i want with the 135mm lens or this lens is only for taking portraits. i love taking pictures of everything i want to just have 2 lens there's no need to have 3 and 4 lens i want one camera lens that can do everything or if i need two lens then i will do that but i want my pictures to be nice and sharp
