I hope you watered that poor plant. Praying for its recovery.
I’m wanting to scan some negatives with my canon m50, will this lens work for that?
can i use this with a canon 5d mk iii ?
if i buy this lens i wouldn't need the 85mm
hey i want a lens that's great in low light if this is the only lens i need then i want to buy one. and if the auto focus is fast then that's great. i have a canon 400d 10.1 megapixels and the lens on there is alright but i want something better than my tamron 18-200. if the lens is great in low light and have a fast auto focus then i need to jump on that. what do you think about the tamron 15-30 i love that one. and what you think about the tamron 85mm lens. like you said i want a lens that i can do everything with. i never knew there was a full frame camera so i want to buy me a full frame camera and what do you think about the canon 6d and i want the canon 80d and that's it. 3 cameras is all i need and 4 lens
1. tamron 35-150
2. tamron 15-30
3. canon 50mm
4. tamron 85mm
tell me what you think about everything i said

Such an amazing brief review, thank you! I usually wait for 7 hours till they get to the point 🤣
Thought after 7 years I'd upvote to get it to 700 likes. I've just bought this on eBay thanks to your reviews.
Thanks but you haven't commented on what that 1: mean.Plz do so.
I have the same lens .. when I mount it with any of my cams.. 77d or 90d. There is one problem. All 45 af points are not shown. 5 from the exact left and 5 from the exact right disappears . Which avails me with 35 af points. Can u please help me with it ??
is it necessary use tripod mount ring with Canon 100mm (no L IS version) ? Is it useable only mounted in ef mount? 600 grams is quite a lot
Where can I buy this ??
it is misses focus on my 5d2 on portrait distances. Without pattern, so i cant really do something with in camera adjust
Will this lens fit on a FF
Hey Chris, How are you? Sorry for commenting on a video that is 5 years old but I was just looking around for a good lens and was watching your review. I'm trying to decide between the Canon 100mm 2.8 Usm Macro lens and the Canon 85mm 1.8 lens. I am into portraits mostly but I enjoy macro photography a lot too. Would just like to know your thoughts on which would be the best lens in your opinion, with a focus on portrait work? Sorry for the long message but thanks! Love your videos..they are my go to for lens reviews!
Can I use this lens for portraits??
Had mine 4 years now it's my go to lens for product shoots.
Hi Christ Iam your new subscriber
My copy of this lens stepped up the aperture everytime i point it to the closer subject, from 2.8 on 10meters object it's jump to f4 or something everytime i move to 50cm object it's the nature of this lens or i have a bad copy.?
Sorry for my bad English 🤗
Still good in 2018?
Thank u for having all the lens I am searching. I wish u get billions of views and subs!
2:53 : What did you just do dude???
Where is focus breathing test?
Thank you for another awesome video
I’ve bought this lens used recently, it works great but when I shake it it makes weird noise. Does yours also make noise when shaking it?
£650? I think it comes it at around £950! 😭
Great review! Thanks a ton!
VERY GOOD ...
i love this lens
They are finally coming out with the updated replacement for this lens later this year. The RF 100mm f/2.0 macro. Seems like it's going to put this lens out of business. Lol.
Great Review, I love Macro Photography , I have a Canon 80D, I get quite reasonable Macro results using a Canon EF-S 55-250 Lens but now I want a dedicated Macro Lens. Would I get better quality and sharper results using this 100 L lens on my 80D crop sensor than I would using an EF-S 35mm or 60mm Lens ? 😊
😂 I know this happened 5 years ago but you gave the ring to your FIANCÉ she said yes. Well if she said no she would not have been your fiancé then obviously. But anyway hope you’re marriage is stronger than ever.
This lens is surprisingly popular in video shooting
0:14 "It comes in at about 650 pounds..."
That's a really heavy lens.
Is this for Full Frame or APSC?
Next thing you know he is boiling a camera lens
lol do not boil!
very informative with useful examples, thank you!
Jokes on you I've got a 100mm non-l for only £100
2:51 nearly got me a heart attack there...
Wow, prices have almost doubled. This is $1300 new now, or $1k refurbed from Canon. I was thinking either this or the Tamron 90mm Macro for about $650.... does the "L" really make twice-the-price difference ? I'd be using it on a EOS 250D, pretty much stone cold beginner wanting to take macros of spiderlings I'm currently raising.
Great video. I'm not much of a macro photographer and I'm much more of a hobbyist who does sports photography and video for high school basketball. I've been using the 55-250 for the last 2 years and I'd like a little more aperture and just in general a sharper image. Is this lens something you'd recommend? I know it's a macro, but at 100mm, I find that's more often than not enough range for me anyway. Thanks!
If it wasn’t for the longitudinal chromatic aberration, it would be perfect. Still my fav lens though.
HI Can you include a video how to use the "full", ".05m to infinity", and the .3m to .5m on the lens
Hey Tony, fellow Missourian here! Are you still using the Ronin S or have you moved to something else with the Eos R? If so, have you played with the 100 2.8 on there? I’m looking at the Weebill s.
Great video man!
Thanks dude you answered my questions
Can’t wait to have this awesome lens on my kit..
Great Video! and very helpful explanation too.
What are some places to go to get used lenses. Budget issues.
Tony wish you showed more macro shots using canon 100 f2.8. Show me what lens can do. Thanks a lot.
Haha and it sticks out like an eyeball,,,,just bought a second hand without stabilization for $280,,, I am loving it
Great review! Thank you. I was in two minds about this lens but after this, I'm getting it. Why not. With the versatility of this lens, it's perfect for what I'm doing...Subscribed & Liked! Well deserved...
thanks for this helpful explanation. New sub from Malaysia!
Great review but curious about your thoughts on using it on a cropped sensor? Would it be best to go with the canon 60mm 2.8 macro?
Thanks for sharing. Would you recommend it for a vlogger to shoot some b-roll and hobby photography? Having a 80D now with a 10-18mm lens for filming myself during vlogs + a 50 mm lens for photography. Would like to upgrade my (b-roll & photography) game, so checking out the right (and affordable) lens...
Should this lens be compatible with any canon dslr?
Great straight forward vid....loved it....will be my next lense anyway but watch every review....thanks !!!
Wouldn’t a 60mm EF-S Macro Lens give sharper , crisper results on a Crop sensor camera like the 80D ?
Great video, and your daughter is so cute ^^
Would you recommend this lens to shoot fast moving betta fishes?
Matched with my SL-1, the added weight adversely affects focusing on that lightweight body.
Definitely needs a screw mount. I've been hand holding photos before stabilization came into model cameras for years when required . I also own the 60mm macro. Much better results without a tripod.
thanks, well presented, knowlegeable
One of the best reviews.
Thank you very much.
I will buy a 60mm as I have a crop camera.
Hi, will it fit my Rebel 6 ?
lack macro sample picture and bad backsong
I have a question. I just bought this lens, used it and I tried to take pictures with it, but it's not giving me a full clear picture, no matter how close or far I get to the subject. (sorry I'm new to macro). So I don't know if it's the lens or me. I am only getting part of the image clear. Which means, if this the case, I would have to take more than one photo and then stack them in photoshop. I thought that if I bought this lens, this process would be eliminated to some degree. Am I doing something wrong or is it the lens? I need to know ASAP in case I have to return it.
Just bought a used one on ebay mint condition for $295 and it is excellent with my canon 5D mark iv, I love it!
Thank you so much for this review! I have decided to purchase this 100mm vs the L series. For beauty photography i know its a MUST! and i hear the autofocus on the L series is “loud” and unreliable. maybe a tripod would help - but as an investment this is the better choice initially - thank you!
Very concise and helpful. Plenty of guidance to alternatives and their application.
i need your help in deciding between Canon 100mm usm macro and Sigma 105mm hsm macro !
thank you in Advance
I like this lens better than the earlier - non USM version of the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens. This lens has internal focusing so that the front element doesn't move when focusing. This lens also focuses faster. I don't do all that much macro and I bought this lens for just over $300 USD. IMO, that price is great. I would like the IS version but, I don't absolutely need it. I don't use this lens for anything but macro since I have a plethora of Canon lenses. I always light my macro shots with flash...
I've been using this lens and a ring flash for intraoral photography during my specialty training. It is gathering dust for now, but I hope I will use it again in the near future...
Good video. IMO your background music (@ 8:30) was annoying (loop). I thought it was my neighbor's TV.
Hello . I would like to know the exact aperture of this lens when used on an APSC camera ..Thanks
Just picked one up used for $300! I shot with a 5DII.
thank you so much for this valuable review, however I would like to ask you about upgrading from the 50mm 1.8 to the 50mm 1.4 or 100mm 2.8 ?
I would like to get some sharp and fast foucing lens for doing portrait and macro , which one would recommend for that ?
i have 100 mm with crop frame cannon 70 D. and according to what u said i have to replace it to 60 mm., is this write?
