I wouldn't watch his videos on this phone. I got the phone and found out most of the things he said weren't true .he's probably paid to discourage buyers . this only thing right is that the video isn't so good
I had a Blackview smartphone and also bought the Tab 11 tablet and I really like both devices and would recommend them to my friends. Backview are not busybodies, you get exactly what you describe and the devices are very well made. I've never had any problems with the devices. The only slight negative is their warranty - they don't offer as much warranty as US or European products but like I told you I've never had any issues so warranty was never necessary. In addition, all products have a super fair price.
no expandable memory aka sd card?
I dont understand why the max nits are so low on rugged phones.......most people want them to use outside, and yes, the is a sun outside. Friend of mine has this phone, and outside its just terrible in direct sunlight. Anyone know a ruggend phone with a decent max if nits? thanks

It seems BL8800 has night vision but no thermal, whereas BL8800 PRO has thermal but it drops night vision. You know what I would really appreciate from a work-phone like this? 1) thermal and possibly nightvision. 2) an integrated multimeter / oscilloscope / signal generator - one which includes a thermometer function via a 650C resistant thermal probe. I mean, it seems it has all the hardware / memory required to do the job well... maybe a li-ion battery has some security issues being used to power a multimeter potentially exposed to high voltage/current? don't really know... but it would be nice to have. I know there is apps to do this via the phones/mic jack, but I'd like a dedicated device as it has broader application potential. 3) a phonometer - a good one not just a software one that relies on the human-voice-oriented mic. 3) a decent tape / distance measure. 4) option to record/clone/emulate infrared remote controls - both inbound/outbound signal. I realize the more features you put in there, the less perfect features you get. But since this would be some sorta swiss army knife... I'd still pay one cent more for those features...
I must disagree with your statement that thermal imaging is not needed. Currently, i am a mechanical/electrical engineer specializing in industrial manufacturing/scalable processes/R&d/New product development. Previously I was a leak detection specialist. You have a leak somewhere? A thermal camera will point you towards the cold spot. Particularly if you have a leak in your drainage line, which are usually intermittent and occur when a drain system is heavily loaded (I've seen at least a hundred where the leak only happened when a bathtub was draining and a few toilets were flushed at the same time). You can pour hot water down your drain and the leak will light up like a shining beacon with thermal imaging. You have a poor electrical connection, clogged up cooling, or a malfunctioning component? It's probably going to be notably warmer than the rest of the equipment. You have a bearing in a piece of machinery going bad. or a belt rubbing the wrong way from improperly adjusted pulleys. Perhaps an air bubble in your engine coolant system causing overheating? Or an HVAC issue you would like to begin diagnosing without taking pressure readings on the refrigerant system? you will have a much harder time seeing all of these things without thermal imaging. Another particularly practical use is identifying insulation "leaks" in your home. You want to see which window's glazing has failed or where the contractors didn't apply enough insulation? Thermal will reveal all. It's a highly useful technology. You just have to be the sort of person that actually fixes things. It is entertaining enough as a toy, but you will never truly see its value until you start using it as a tool. I could go on, but i sincerely miss having 24/7 access to a flir hand held thermal imaging camera. :( (if only i had a spare few grand laying around) My biggest quandary, is that the majority of these phones are using the flir lepton 2-2.5 instead of 3(+) Do i wait for them to catch up? do i give up other features to get the new caterpillar phone that is using the latest flir lepton chip? The 80x60 resolution of the earlier models pales in comparison to the latest flir lepton 3.5 with a proper 160x120 resolution. The extra detail in the thermal images makes the thermal camera infinitely more useful for diagnosing a massive range of issues. I would gladly pay the extra 50-100 bucks for a higher resolution thermal sensor. As it sits. i am still holding onto my galaxy S7 from yesteryear. :(
Thermal imaging is the real key item for me. I work on large broadcast live events. Great big temporary power systems and tons of cable and distribution gear. The ability to thermally inspect is a huge time saver. Also, a great phone for running remote control for Lighting and Audio consoles.... Lasts for ages and puts up with abuse. Great consumer phone? Not so much. But for those who need a killer work phone, it's awesome
There are so many uses for a FLIR besides what your immediate assessment of it's value implies... Way more than AC or electrical work. Drop something? A FLIR will show anything you drop on the ground up lit like a candle if it's a different temperature than the ground. Leaky roofs and windows, balancing carbs on your motorcycle, finding misfires, detecting intruders in the dark, or even seeing where they stood if they've left or hidden. Hunting feral hogs or anything else? They light up like candles from far far away. Unbind your mind dude. Just because you can't think of a use doesn't mean there isn't one. It only means you think you know more than you actually do.

What a rubbish review. I use a Thermal camera daily to find electrical and other faults. I'd much rather a detailed review rather than this creepy entertainment.
Good camera is all that I need with a rugged smartphone and this does the job with its Dimensity chipset. So good enough.
The thermal imaging is a huge plus and the massive battery adds to this mediatek powered device's appeal.
A lot many "rugged" phones crack when the throw includes torque(spins). I had a phone which was slightly big to hold on my hand and dropped one day on the floor. When it left my hand, my pinkie finger inadvertently flicked and spun it as it dropped. There were immediate big cracks. That phone had dropped on me before several times but never got this level of damage.
the thermal camera with 5g is the only reason I am buying as my daily driver. I will use it for HVAC and refrigeration services.

"waterproof" isn't really accurate, IPx8 doesn't take water type and pressure in much consideration. Swimming in salt water with the phone can brick it without without Blackview "lying". On another note, I will use the Flir in both automotive and electrical repair when I get a new phone so while it may not be for the average user, it is aiming for tech workers that doesn't care much for 100M pixel cameras with 200x zoom and tiktok slowmotion video capabilities. Nice review anyway, I'm just saying that it should be tested with the user they aim for in mind.
Got one coming in the mail right now, for construction admin and backcountry camping. I do wish they'd have used a dimensity 1200 and lepton 3.5 instead though. Would have been near perfect then.
The thermal imaging is not a gimmick. If you are using it for just fun then yes it is wasted. It is more for outdoors, but manly work environment that would use. Like me in the automotive industry or my buddy in the HVAC business.
As a secondary device for outdoors or industrial working could good one
