Im mexican have a small head just bought a small gringo , strap wont hold all the way . thinkni need an extra small.
Anybody got an idea on if the helmet is same size and its just the padding that varies in different sizes S,M,L,XL? In other words. Is this helmet one size fits all except for the inner padding? Great review btw.
Would a medium size fit my small head ? Or would it look to big.
gendered and racist review.
If This Is Dot Approved Can I Wear This Legally In Australia,Will It Pass Thanks Mate great Review,
Anyone have this helmet? I want to know how comfortable it is to rock shades while wearing the helmet because I have yet to find a full face type helmet that can comfortably have my sunglasses on. Always winds up digging into my head
What are your opienie on this helmet, I otwaty bonanza but I'm looking for something safer ..? as with ventilation in the use of Europe
To bad it doesnt have an ece rating.
I noticed the size chart on Rev is different than Biltwell's. According to Rev's size chart, I'm smack in the middle of medium and small. 56.5 cm I'm a new rider, therefore, I don't know what I normally wear with other helmets or have any points of reference really. Thoughts?
1:17 I'm thinking of buying this helmet. But looking at the profile shot, I see the chin is still exposed. That's a little bit of a concern for me. Or should it not be? It's definitely better than the 3/4 I'd say.
Second question. I was told at the bike shop that I should choose the sizing to be tight, as the cushioning will break in. If I choose one that feels comfortable now, then it'd be too loose after the breaking-in period. Does that sound right, or is there only so much breaking-in to happen. The small size just seems like my head is already hitting the styrofoam, and I'm feeling two pressure points on the two top sides of my cranium. I'm just thinking the styrofoam is not going to dent it, and will still be uncomfortable?

That helmet is so not fitting to that guy, chin out like that. Do a image search in google "Biltwell Gringo", you will see how it is supposed to fit.
can anyone say anything about anyone without them being G so butt hurt really? get of your PC bs
What the hell is an "american head shape??"
My head is 58cm Asian-European head. How would this fit?
This or premier trophy?
How does this do in terms of protecting the face and jaw? The guys chin is sticking out so I would assume not so well? Is it just a little better than a 3/4 helmet and a little worse than a full face helmet in terms of protection?
A million different colors in the face shield (y)
what about protection
Cheek pads ARE removable in the old version.
What kind of color has the ECE one? Its not white and not yellow?
The guys in Biltwell says that is intermediate oval face shape. Which is right?
Still just thermoplastic, for over 200 bucks...
I want to paint one of these as Ayrton Senna’s helmet
For all the fat heads (like myself) out there that wore a XXL in previous years, the ECE version WILL NOT fit you. Loss $$$ for Biltwell and their retailers. 👎🏼
I’ve seen a ton of reviews that praise Biltwell for not increasing the shell size (to the eye, at least) while making it ECE approved. However, they’re also saying that the relative sizing comes up smaller. For someone like me (and I assume a hell of lot of others...) who would normally wear a M, that means stepping up to a L and therefore the larger shell size... For me, that makes it look too big and bulky. Has anyone done anything with swapping out the liner on the M for a better fit?
who are you???
The ece is tight as fffffffffffffuuuuhhhhh! It didnt fit in a medium. Went with the og gringo
Nice helmet, better review!
I loved this guy in Sneaky Pete
Why do your reviewers always sound as though they're struggling for air?
I wear an XL on both Gringo and Gringo S and they fit perfectly (I know I have a big noggin’). Just ordered the new ECE version and it’s supposed to get delivered today. Based on this video on the Revzilla site’s recommendations, I ordered a size up which is XXL. I measured my head and it measured 59cm and according to the Biltwell size chart I should wear an XL which I do in DOT only approved Gringos and they fit nicely. So I will give you guys an update once I receive and try on the helmet to see if sizing up is necessary. Cheers.
ECE makes this a proper lid! Still prefer the AGV retro lid.
Biltwell Hipster and
Biltwell Hipster S
Old is Gold ( old school ro¢k's )
The cheek pads are removeable in the old version. I had to swap mine out for thicker ones because Biltwell thinks people who wear a medium also have an impossibly fat face. Also not feeling too much need to upgrade from the old version. I only use it for riding mopeds and shifty fifties.
Gringo S ECE vs Bell Bullitt? Assuming cost isn't a factor. Presumably Bullitt right?
Looks like the Bell Star helmet form the 70's
That glossy black looks like a fingerprint magnet, I was looking to buy that model but I think I'll look into the flat colors instead.
Thank you for your feedback
Check out my restoration vid of the gringo helmet , leave a comment and I should be making a review ....
Thanks for the review brother
Not a chance to try one in my area... they're apparently known for small sizing .. anyone to help me with this matter as I'm thinking of picking one up online ? FYI, I'm M (close to L) on sizing with shoei/arai/agv
Thanks for your help !
I had a problem with the visor too. The screw became loose on one side and completely flung out while i was riding. Had to ride with one side of the visor undone. When i did a shoulder check, the wind picked up the loose end of the visor like a sail and twisted the helmet to the side of my face. I almost fell off my bike. It was so scary, i had to pull over and calm down for several minutes. I wrote a letter to Biltwell about this design and it seems like they dont care as its been 2 months ago and they haven't replied. Yes it looks cool, but i will never buy this helmet again or reccomend it to anyone because of the visor issue which was very unsafe. Not to mention very rude they did not reply about a situation that was very dangerous due to their product. I bought a Shoei rf sr and the visor is very secure. Never going back
man this seems like another Hipster item. Style over Quality.
The new ECE shields will not have this cracking issue because it is a better and thicker plastic due to the ECE requirements.
Easy fix for the button rattling is to wrap dental floss around the space between the shield and the inner face of the button itself.
As for the shield rolling down... I got nothing. Lol. My lanesplitter does it too.
thanks for getting to the point!
I guess if the shields keep rolling down, why not just get the standard Gringo, without the face shield?
Arai or shoei if you want quality..
Its okay... You can give me both helmet..😁
I appreciate the points you covered. I received mine a few days ago in a medium, which I normally wear in other helmets, and unfortunately it left my chin and the back of my head exposed. It was also hard to move my head due to the uncomfortable strap, and on top of that, it hurt my ears to put the helmet on and take it off. Keep in mind this is the new ECE edition, so it may have had something to do with the added foam, but either way, very uncomfortable to me. Also, this strange film began to develop on the inside of the helmet's visor that I could not get ride of. My $100 bilt helmet outdid this helmet in every way....so just a word of warning to those who buy it. Make sure to try it before you buy it. If it fits you, you will probably enjoy it!
I like the Biltwell Gringo with the snap-on shield. I picked mine up for $130 (helmet) & $20 (shield).
The model you’re reviewing is $160 (helmet) & $30 (shield).
Thanks for the honest review.
where did you get the bubble shield i want one!!!!
Loc-tite on the threads would solve the problem of falling visor. I just took mine apart, comes with what looks like blue loc-tite on it, but it's obviously not good stuff, so maybe try putting some of your own on. Thanks for the review. I enjoyed it, and know more now.
what size is that helmet?
good to know, I won't get one
I have an Arai full face and a Davida open face but keep being tempted by the retro lids. Cool review, this one is off my list.
Just bought the Biltwell Gringo S . Love it ! WOW, Very comfortable, padded to the max. Very soft padding. Helmet also works well with my sunglasses on.
Great shape, and color selection, and cost was very reasonable. Helmet also goes great with my Harley-Davidson Sportster.
Love the retro look. 👍👍🚵
🌟🌟🌟🌟 4 stars. The retro look is Cool, but now built safer than back then. 2018 code DOT Rating. Buy one for sure, you'll be happy. For the price, it's a deal.
*Note: if you want $400.00 technology, don't complain on this lid. It is substantial for the cost.
Company HQ might be local to you, but the helmets are all made in the Republic of China.
Now show the public the huge gap btw the shield and the gasket. It pinpoints wind right into your eyes. Forget highway speeds. Or, wear some Wiley X underneath to protect your eyes. At least the helmet fits sunglasses well. All that aside, its comfy and looks cool. That's about it.
Is it intercom capable??
liner is removable and washable and replaceable
