I’m in nursing school, and I’ve actually always been pretty health conscious. When I did my physical to get into school, my recorded BP was 128/88. I got a lil nervous because that seemed kind of high for a 29 year old female who tries to eat healthy and exercises consistently. I have a wrist cuff and decided to check mine, got a high reading, and was just anxious about my blood pressure altogether. But I watched your other video on good BP checking technique, followed that, and now I check my BP every day and on average, my readings are about 110/70. Crazy how much anxiety can affect a reading. Thank you for this useful info on how to take control of our health!
Perhaps a subject for a different video but found you as searching for a related issue rarely discussed - using BP machine when also have a pacemaker. Researching to upgrade my older wrist BP machine that had excellent placement technique - finger on collar bone lays monitor directly over heart - that seems to be in disfavor now vs raising to heart level like you discussed and its issues. Just received a pacemaker and immediately though laying virtually on top of the pacemaker might not be a good idea...so upgrading. While I do travel, wrist would be more convenient, will probably shift to arm, but for either wrist or arm - which arm. While manufacture in direct correspondence assures units are tested and approved with pacemaker, no information anywhere related to using with pacemaker. Traditionally recommend using left arm, but with left insertion of pacemaker...should right arm be used? Such a learning curve...and virtually no videos exist addressing that issue.

Dr. Kenny, I have a question regarding the Apple's iWatch. It can do so many tasks like measuring heart rate, blood pressure, etc...; I just wonder if it is as accurate as the wrap around the bicep blood pressure unit. Your response is appreciated.
None of them are accurate I have bought 5 different wrist, and arm machines some that cost almost $200. Took them all to my doctors office none of them even came close to being correct. Most were reading at least 30-40 points higher then what he would read doing it manually. My doctor said to just forget it and he will take my BP which is 128/78 he told me to not worry about it and keep exercising which I have been doing daily.
This is making me feel better getting high BP reading with wrist reader. It makes sense now. Thank you Dr.
Enjoyed the information. I have four blood pressure monitors, three Omrons, two wrist monitors and one with a cuff and all three give me a different reading. And I have a ADC - AD76864111-BK-OS Pro's Combo II SR Adult Pocket Aneroid/Scope Kit with Prosphyg 768 Blood Pressure Sphygmomanometer and Adscope Sprague 641 Stethoscope and that gives me a different reading than the three Omrons but the Omron cuff is just off 2mmg compared to the doctors. Also people hav been saying that the ADC is not accurate either. I say that they should not sell any unless they are spot on.
im new to having to check my BP and all i have is a wrist cuff my bp was 196/94 when i went to the doctor and she prescribed me Lisinopril 10mg but im not sure on how to check my bp and it to be actually accurate tonight i tried both wrists my left is reading 128/74 and on my right it read 145/68 but i also notice that when i check the right wrist the machine is more tighter then it gets when i put it on my left wrist and me being new to all this how do i position my arm and which side is the side i should be using it has a picture sticker on the cuff one picture is elbo on the table and the other looks like the hand is stright up but ive also been laying my arm across my chest like a nurse made me do at the local hospital im no doctor so is that alright for me to check my pulse that way and which side should i use?

As someone who’s blind, if I could find an upper arm blood pressure cuff that talks, I’d be more inclined to get one. All the talking ones I’ve been able to find online have been wrist ones, though.

I think I will buy a wrist monitor next time I go shopping. But there needs to be some planning in order to get a verily accurate blood pressure reading. I'm not going to use my muscles the keep the arm at the right level. I will rest it on something so I won't have to use my muscles. I've got some sphygmomanometers that I use. The ones that I use now read very close to the same. So I will be comparing the wrist monitor with my sphygmomanometers. Great video.

I would love some advice how to activate blootooth on the bp monitor setting so it transfers the data. I can not find any instructions for this and unfortunately this video was not helpful at all in this regards. Yes, I like the device but there are no instructions how to transfer the data via bloothooth. The app says activate it in the bp monitor setting but it does not say how. Anyone has any hints?
