I'm not sure if you saw, but Benro has new S "Pro" heads with stepless drag control. It looks overall nice and better built, but I'm curious if they're better than the BV lineup? Not sure if you're going to grab any but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts!

As far as the S2 goes you are too critical. It's a reasonably cheap head and combined with the A1573F tripod it offers a decent solution for those people wanting a decent set-up for relative low cost. I use mine with a Panasonic GH5 and I'm very happy. My unit does not have any stiffness either, perhaps you have a badly assembled head? I liked your video though!

I am using the C2573 with a BV4 head and I was wondering if your center column on your legs have any play in it? Even when I fully tighten the center column, it still wiggles slightly which is annoying since the slight shift in positioning due to the center column ruins my smooth panning from the BV4 head.

Very informative and detailed review, thanks. I was considering purchasing the Benro aero 4 or the s4 kit. I am now concerned about the horizontal setback issue, maybe this is no longer an issue as benro has since updated the heads, I don't know. None of the shops stock benro where I live. There seems to be very little to choice regarding video kits for compact 4/3 cameras at this price point.

Hi Melvin I'm looking into this tripod, just wondering can you add manfrotto 504 ah head onto this?
It is a great looking tripod and wonder how it will do in the field! While it is cheap you can find similar chinese tripods (where thisone is made too I guess?) fro a lot less. I do find the spikes on this one to be really too small to be effective or at least that is what I have been told. I have a 130 euro Innorel 80 that is pretty similar but does not go up that high. In fact it seems to be identical to the Benro Benro TMA38CL. But the spikes I have on mine are larger while the centre column is missing. But the Benro would set me back at 410 euro (!)
Hello Melvin, I wonder can you help me, please. I purchased a brand new Benro TMA 38 CL tripod and a G2 ball head. But having fitted the ball head on, I found that the base of the head can loosen very easily and I am concerned that my ball head and camera shall fall to the ground. How do I secure it properly and when shall I know that it is secure???
Hello Melvin, I recently bought a brand new Manfrotto BeFree Travel Tripod which I took on a Photo Tour on the Island of Mallorca. I plonked it into the sandy beach, turned around to my bag to get a filter and I heard a loud thud. My new lens; 10 stop Lee filter and Lee 3 stop ND soft grad. were all broken. Needless to say, I chucked that tripod in the bin. What I need is good sound advice for a new tripod which has to carbon; solid; strong; durable; for my landscape photography and my Canon 5D4 system to go on an aeroplane; take up into the mountains, and yet not too heavy that will not break my back. Can you help please Melvin? I thank you in advance...

5.75 lbs ..... I need minimum weight, Tough enough to pull myself up Snowdonia the Lakes or the Highlands. Seriously that's too damn heavy. There are aluminium tripods at half the price that weigh in lighter than that.

I've got the next size down, I can't fault it at all it's been totally reliable. Much cheaper than the Gitzos I used before!

The locking system isn't anything new, Slik have used this system for years! , which is why my Slik pro 700dx has lasted for 20 years!.If I was in the market for a carbon fibre I would be looking at this tripod.
I might get System Go but the Mach 3 looks like it would be more steady in the wind.
